Today I stumbled upon "The Secrets" newest attempt to wrangle money out of people, "The Secret to teen power". Now I haven't read the first secret, I heard it was all just a money making scheme made by a con artist, which kinda ruined the appeal. Yet I thought the 15 page excerpt may have be a bit of a laugh, and my one main reaction was "Oh dear god."

What the hell? "like attracts like" seems to be "the secret" to a healthy successful life; I.E: If you think happy thoughts, happiness will come to you. In the most part I suppose this is true, yet they go on: If you think bad thoughts, badness will come to you. Whilst this could be simply explained as "if you feel crappy, your more likely to realise things around you are crappy" they make it mean, you think bad thoughts about lightning your more likely to be struck by lightening. A good example of their logic (may be a tad extreme) - "the Jews caused the Holocaust to happen because they thought bad thoughts about the Nazis" - No really, read the excerpt. This is all wrapped up in a patronizing and facepalm inducing "hip teen talk" package.

Has anyone read this, or the original? Does it help in any way? or is it just another attempt to con people out of their money? Here's a link to the amazon page for the book, its got the excerpt on there as well as a few reviews that are a bit of a laugh.

TL;DR: The Secret, full of crap? The secret for teen's just a money making ploy, capitalizing on the insecurities of self hating teenagers? Does thinking about a song make it magically appear in a mall? Discuss

yeah i think it's a bunch of crap.

stuff like this is pretty funny and usually don't work and then of course the people blame themselves for it not working and they are worse off than they were to start. tho maybe if the teens are being jerks to their parents, it's partly the parent's fault, tho it could be the teen too

I don't like people that try to relate, because they never do it right.

Also, I always think bad thoughts, and yet good things happen to me most of the time. In fact, I rather like Friday the 13th because I think good things happen to me then. ^_^
