I'm pretty sure I'd get it on with a robot, yeah.

*unzips dick*

Wait, can robots have fetishes?...

There are actually sex robots out there that you don't have to sign that sort of contract before. Its no big deal not my thing, but apparently people are protesting them and junk. This guy sort of touches on it though in a very combative matter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfgLGrXqkRA

I'm still skeptical about how viable this is from a scientific and even commercial standpoint, scientifically I think the idea of having sex with robots within the next few years is a little bit soon, but by 2050? Sure, now from a commercial standpoint they would have to make the bots either cheap enough or infinitely better than current ways of getting off, something that I doubt they will accomplish, would I have sex with a robot? Well my answer is no...kind of, nothing against the concept and if you want to go crazy, for me it's more of a case of I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't like the idea of having sex just for pleasure, so I would rather not have sex with a robot just for the sake of having sex, HOWEVER if we are talking about a robot that is as intelligent as say...Glados or EDI then we are talking about a different situation, and in that case, sure I would

I've already seen groups form in protest over this.
I don't really get this. I'm pretty indifferent to the issue (I vastly prefer sex with people, thanks) but I don't understand why some people get so upset and offended over the idea of sex robots.

Ahh the good old popular science standby of writing that some researcher believes that we will X by the year XXXX
Great news there.

Same reason people protest any other fetish or gays (and I bet it'll be the same people mostly), people are having sex differently to me and should stop it.

I don't think its for me, but I don't care if others want to have them.

If I just wanted a fuck I'd go get it for free with someone warm and inviting, I'd a robot but it has to be a person first.

When the day a robot looks human and I can pick which Victoria Secret model I want it to look like ... then yes.

But really, if we want them now, you're gonna have to give up any kind of emotion. Which basically just makes it one of those sex dolls. What I'm really getting at is that I want a better version of those sex dolls. That seems easier than basically creating life.

Hey I'd be down, so long as they don't try to make them look too human, then uncanny valley sets in nothing kills a mood faster than realizing your human shaped fleshlight is giving you a funny look and...

No wait fuck it[footnote]pun intended ;)[/footnote], make em as human as possible with facial features and everything, just so we can get the eventual compilation videos of the things glitching out and instead of making O-faces we get the horrific and most uncanniest of imagery the valley can offer!

2050 gon be a good year!

There's no reason to believe that science will continue to develop, especially not indefinitely. If the declining ecology and related politics manages to hold up well enough to allow robotics and AI to proceed to the point of viable sex robots, then there's nothing (additionally to the aforementioned) that will stop that from happening. But something that we don't normally consider is that post-humans will then compete AGAINST robots. Advances in nanotechnology will turn humans more and more robotic - so the real question is as humans get "better and better", more "powerful" and "optimal", how will they fare against more and more appealing "robotic base" entities?

But as usual, little of the actual projected reality is considered, in favor of the hallucination of taking today's world and adding in sex bots.

To actually lose yourself to the act of reproduction is something that requires hormones and pheremones so no. Also I imagine if I'd never actually got married and had kids and never had sex, then maybe. But only as a desperation measure.

Given what I'd seen of the long-distance kissing apparatus that looks like an egg with weird bits on, I'm not holding out for much confidence in this. It's not gonna be Gigilo Joe and it's not gonna be Dr. Evil's Fem-Bots, so I don't think we should really get into this.

I hope no one tells these "researchers" that vibrators and fleshlights already exist, and have been in use for years.
Huge difference between a vibrator/fleshlight and a Sean Connery/Scarlett Johanson sexbot.

That is true. Vibrators and fleshlights are pretty much the ultimate in objectifying the opposite sex by reducing them to mere sexual objects. Sexbots on the other hand is an attempt to anthropomorphize objects by making objects closer to a person.

and part of owning one requires you to sign a contract stipulating that you will not have sex with or perform lewd acts with your robot.
Major buzzkill.

Anyway, I'm reminded of the recent British TV series Humans.
Define "Lewd acts". I'm sure there's a loophole somewhere.
