The shame of getting pwnd by lag, the ultimate enemy

I know one game notorious for this, Diablo 2. There is nothing more annoying then lag that costs you a win or makes you dead for no good reason. Diablo 2 was just downright embarrasing: "(Insert character name here) was slain by the most pathetic creature in the game" ONLY because the internet cut or the game lagged or something else. Of course everyone laughs at you for your epic fail.

So Escapists, tell us you lagging troubles Assuming you are now lag free now with your fibre optic broadband and 50mb per second and such

AVP, worst case sineario, you die for no reason and stare at the ground for 10 seconds until a respawn screen with no counter pops up and you witness Aliens running in the place. Just annoying. And can really scare you when the lag delays the HUD from showing up, so as a Marine you hear the *Ping* *Ping* *Ping* of the tracker but you cant see where its coming from.

Ah lag...

In CS1.6 there were Warcraft servers. Figured out ways to drop orc nades (one hit kill at level 3 skills) after buying a mole.
One time I did it but the game had a bit of a lag fest so it didn't drop properly and everyone got away.

Except one guy who came back to tea bag my corpse.
Can't say he had the pleasure of victory.

In shooters lag spikes which get you killed are so damn common I've stopped noticing them. But what I really hate is when you can't even play some heaps cool PC game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or the original Call of Duty for example, either because all the servers have a ping of 300+ because of your location or the guy who made the server won't allow players who don't have a ridiculously low ping to enter.

Best lag is MvC3 (It has amazing servers, the lag was made by my friend and I seeing how a lag match would go). Here is the outcome: Jump......Character one dies. Heavy attack, second character dies, third character dies, enemy still just stands there.

I started playing Tribes and then counterstrike on 56k so every game was like that. This was before the days of interpolation and fancy net-codes that predict where your shots will land too.
Currently the only lag that troubles me is in minecraft, and that's all server side.

Yeah people are always getting pwn'd by me and my family. All my charters in whatever are always named lagkill.

OT: Anywho yeah I hate when your in the middle of a game and BAM! lag out of nowhere.

What about losing because somebody picked up the phone and started talking while you were play Action Quake 2 via dial-up?


I'm on a 100/100 connection now, so lag is mostly an issue of server problems or server location.
