So, I need some help getting a closer shave. I shave in the shower with foam, and a vibrating cartridge razor, but I'm still left with a shadow. It looks like I'm perpetually trying to grow a mustache. I don't think I'm going to go out an get a badger hair brush (they aren't that common in America). Any tips.

Pull the skin back, against the grain, with ya hand and shave, it cuts it at a far lower cut. Also it takes about 3 weeks for ya razor, electricial or whatever for your face to get used to it, try it, it worked for me. But I havent shaved in 2 weeks!

By "vibrating cartridge razor" you mean electric, right? Use a regular (non electric) razor and go against the grain.

He probably means one of these [http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=gillette+mach+3+power&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=829&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi] things.

I heard you get a better shave if you hunt and kill the badger yourself. Worth looking into.

What does "against the grain" mean? Sorry, I'm idiot when it comes to shaving, I had to teach myself and didn't start until I was like 15, plus I use cheap disposable razors. I have the same problem, not sure if it's my crappy shaving skills, the crappy razor, or both...

Disposable razor cartidges that have a vibrating handle. never noticed the vibration to do anything for shaving, but it seems to make it easier to clean.

I have never seen one of those before, and I can't imagine it working any better than a standard stationary razor.

Hair grows in a particular direction, if you shave against the direction it is growing then you will get a closer shave. For someone like me it kind of sucks because different areas grow in different directons and I have to go over it like five times.

Against the grain means you need to make sure the hair is facing the razor, so that the razor gets under it, instead of passing over. Like using a spoon, you have to make sure you get underneath what you're trying to pick up.

Also, if at first you don't succeed, try again. The first run-through doesn't always get everything.

Oh, okay, I kind of already do that though, particularly the go over it like five times thing...

well the absolute 'best' way to get a close shave is with warm cream, one of those shaving brush things, and a straight razor.

I have the same problem, to be honest I would just learn to live with it, otherwise if you try to go in and scrape those little hairs out you end up with ingrown hairs which end up pushing up skin which has to eventually dry and flake off when the hair pushes out. Trust me the flaky skin looks terrible. Or you end up getting razor burn which hurts like a ***** and it looks like something is wrong with you because you have a red rash on your face.

I use gel and a shick quatro.

I shave against the grain. It takes some skill to make sure you dont agitate the skin or nick yourself.

Real men shave dry... and with a machete!

Umm, use a razor with less blades. I find despite what they say, the less blade the better. I only use 3 max. The less blades, the less surface area your skin is pressed over, limiting the amount of ways your hair can avoid being cut.

If you are short, grow it, braid it and carry around an axe.
If not go against the grain.
