Anyone grab The Ship [http://www.theshiponline.com/about-the-game.php] yet?

It looks like a kooky mix of adventure game and FPS, where you're stuck in a "The Most Dangerous Game [http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/danger.html]" type of situation, only you're on a giant boat with other passengers. You're charged with killing another passenger to secure your family's safety, but other people are hunting you, as well.

Intrigue!

The single-player version sounds all kinds of swank. You have to bribe guards to look the other way when you whack a guy, see a shrink when you start to freak out under stress, and so on.

But this is stuff I got from the FAQ. Has anyone actually played it? If so, is it worth the $20 and the hassle of setting up Steam?

I actually just got a review copy of this today. After I get some solid playtime in, I'll let you know how it is.

I'm expecting good things, too. The users on 1up have it rated 8 out of 10 so far.

Well, I cracked over the weekend and bought it. The closest analogy I can make is Air Buccaneers from UT2K4. If you can find a good group to roll with, it's hilariously fun. If you are stuck on a pubby server, it's a bunch of morons trying to play it like Deathmatch and it sucks.

I don't believe that steam was ever difficult to set up. The Ship though sounds like a niffy game that I could get into. Do you mean it's an actual shooter, or is it just firstperson perspective? Anyway, complex mechanics like seeing a shrink if you go nuts and bribing guards make the game sound worth its cost.
