I can't wait for Captain Marvel to be the new Last Jedi

A mediocre movie that a certain group of people are attracted to like moths to a bug zapper, who won't let go of how bad they think it is come hell or high water.

Avengers 16 will come out and I'll still have to see 20 pages threads about how captain marvel was mean to a male character and how the [insert] scene was uneccesary and tedious.

Then 7 months later red letter media will release a 40 minute video where they just restate points in a funny voice.
There will be a thread on each movie, breaking down exactly how much money Captain Marvel cost them by not smiling or whatever, too.

Well, Alien 3 is a horror movie and Saving Private Ryan is a war drama. And considering how much The Matrix was pushing its messiah themes, you could kinda tell where it was going. But seriously, do you ever go into a summer blockbuster, more specificially a superhero movie, and think 'I wonder if the hero is going to survive?' I mean, come on. Especially nowadays when summer/holiday movies are as lacking in anything that might scare off audiences as they've ever been.
Especially when they create franchises. The MCU is a big example here, because we knew about people who were going to be in Infinity War when their movies were still in the works, and so we can infer those characters got out of their respective movies alive. It doesn't really kill the tension, because it's easy to assume they survive anyway.

It's such a weird complaint.

I'm still a bit amazed at how many people are acting as though Thanos' "snap" is going to hold. Like they're going to legit kill off half of their marketable characters, especially with some upcoming sequels. "Finally, real stakes" and such, and I'm wondering how pissed people will be when heroes return. I suspect sdome people will die or stay dead, and mostly I think that'll be heroes who have been around for a while whose actors want to move out of doing movies, but I think 4Vengers is going to piss off a lot of people still, and it shouldn't.

Actually these days I'm more likely to expect heroes dying in movies. The world has changed from the 80s and 90s. Media is darker, people are more jaded and cynical. Shows like GoT and the Walking Dead have gotten people used to their favorite characters dying, and movie directors want to stand out more. So yeah, I don't assume it, but its certainly not rare anymore.
Such a weird comparison: cable television series built around death to superhero movies owned by Disney and/or featuring tentpole characters. Even the darker, edgier DCEU couldn't finish a movie without telling us that a tentpole character wasn't really dead and would be coming back.

And, I mean, if that's the kind of death you want, where they kill off, I dunno, Iceman, and he's back next movie because he was a Skrull or a clone or some other soap opera drama like that, that's fine. But with like, an exception I can think of, major superhero movies have limited their deaths to fake outs, "deaths" where the dead get better, and minor characters. This is a long tradition in comics, and if that's what you want, that's fine, but it's the most we're likely to get on the regular.

Given these are the options, though, I'd as soon they live. Comic movies are already silly and goofy without delving into the soap opera tricks common with comic books. Media may be darker, but the MCU is still full of bright colours and dad jokes.
