Now I enjoy Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, South Park, and the like. But there is a show that still holds a special place in my heart, and that show is The Simpsons.
To me, The Simpsons is one of the few multi-layered comedy cartoons around. I've watched just about all of the older episodes about ten times over, and laughed my arse off. Yet I watch them again as an older and more knowledgeable person, and I see a whole new layer of comedy that I simply didn't understand as a young'n, leaving me thinking 'how did they get away with that??' And this is why I scoff whenever any of the above is compared to The Simpsons.
Now we are getting into the more recent series, here I was thinking to myself that Matt Groening would be running out of ideas, and yet they are still going relatively strong. Granted, they aren't as memorable or multi-layered as the older episodes, but still good for laughs.
The question: Do you consider The Simpsons to be the best animated comedy show out there? Did you but not now? Hate it? Do you think it has any chance of stopping now?
