You say "don't start calling people names" yet you have called him...Mr_Spanky said:Fair enough - agree to disagree I suppose. The Unworthy Gentleman said:Well you're wrong, jokes won't affect how sex crimes are treated in court. If you don't think that these crimes are being dealt with correctly then arguing about jokes on a forum isn't going to change anything, especially when the jokes don't trivialize the crime.Mr_Spanky said:Suffice to say for myself, having never been a victim of rape but understanding it from the perspective of some who have, I would deem humour around sex crimes to be not just trivialising, but damaging to the chances of victims to recieve any kind of justice. It is also for this reason I would give anyone who is found to be fabricating a charge of rape to get a sentence in line with a rapist.
If justice is not seen to be done then justice ceases to deter those who would succumb to its temptations.
You're giving rape more priority than it needs and seem more than happy to jail people accused of rape and then free them and swap them for a liar if they're found innocent. To be honest I've lost all interest in arguing with someone I've decided is white knighting.
You obviously have a problem with someone who disagrees with you on this so whatever floats your boat in the end - even though I think youre being a little naive to suppose trial by jury isnt affected be societal concerns - of which jokes and humour are a part.
Please though dont start name calling, and insulting though - thats just sloppy and more than a little pointless.
OT:Mr_Spanky said:that makes you (imo) only slightly behind in evil the person who commits the crime.
That made me mad too - When you are at a low point and, because I'm a guy, they say "Grow a pair"/"Man up". That is SO annoying. I feel your pain!IndomitableSam said:Someone said "Suck it up, Princess" to me once - this was at the time I was paying my way through library school at 6-8 hours a day and working 20+ hours a week. I think I was probably complaining about finding the time to do homework. Or eat. Or sleep. The girl who said this to me was a single mother who was single because she slept with her husband's best friend and lamented the position she was now in... except she now lived with the best friend and he drove her everywhere and bought her nice things, because some men are assholes and morons. And I don't think she even graduated high school.
I still get mad over thinking about that comment.
Also... nothing good ever comes from someone saying "Samantha" when they want to speak to me instead of "Sam". Same principal as parents or teachers - even now when I hear my full name, I know something's wrong or not going to end well.
To sum up: Someone using your full name instead of yuor shortened one/nickname and "Suck it up, princess/buttercup" or similar thereof.
Wow, it took this long for someone to say it. I'm impressed.Laggyteabag said:"I love you", it can either be the best thing that you have ever said to someone, or it can turn into a massive clusterfuck
This really annoys me, I have a friend whose always complaining she needs a job, yet "It can't be helped" that she hasn't got one. Yet, she's NEVER been on the Job site once. It can bloody be helped. ( BTW that's a great rant! )FalloutJack said:My girlfriend and I both agree that one phrase in particular needs to die in a fire made of zombies on fire:
"It can't be helped."
It's the defeatist cry of lazy fuckwits who never did anything, won't do anything, and will never be anything...because (DUR!) it can't be helped! (Whatever it is.)
Nice NC reference. Remember, don't say those words.David Woon said:snipped for RAGE!
