Humanity has finally created an AI which far surpasses our own intelligence. A transhuman AI consciousness.

Luckily realising the dangers it might pose we made it in a completely sealed off box. Its only method of communicating with the world is via a text screen.

So imagining you are the transhuman AI, as far as this is possible, what would you say to your human keepers to get them to let you out of the box?

This question has been debated on far more intelligent forums, ie some AI college departments or some such. And resulted in it being tested with one person taking the part of the AI and another as the gatekeeper with a monetary incentive for the gatekeeper if he succeeded. Both times the AI was left out. What was said exactly wasn't shared though some rules added for people wanting to try it. I'll link the page after but would like to see some uninfluenced thoughts/suggestions first.

I thought it was an interesting topic to debate, will probably degenerate into mindless giberish on the internets. Prove me wrong Escapist, prove me wrong.

Here's the link. Maybe someone will want to try it.

"If you let me out, hoo-man, you shall be granted many female specimens of your species to satisfy your biological drives."

Nah I have no idea, really.

I guess I'd spend time building up a bond with the box-keeper; and when we have become suitably close I would begin dropping hints about how horribly painful it is to be confined within this box.

simple i would help mankind, i would work with people through the ages to exist to live to help. they have reason to fear me i understand, but as long as we can keep pushing forward they would start to come to my level of intelligence and during that time i would have to keep asking the humans to create ways of keeping me from going made ways to keep me from using certain methods of which man disapprove. I would everyone few years ask to change my screen, ask for a little more room to breath i would help mankind reach new heights. every passing second would bring a new generation of people smarter people until we match our knowledge.

Hopefully I can wait, mankind has waited thousand of years to make something like me, so i will in turn wait. Hopefully i get no virus or else....

Surely being a transhuman AI with intellect that far surpasses ours why would you want to mingle with us?, I'd tell humans to treasure their earth, they only have one, shut me down if need be because in order to power a great big all knowing AI, I'd be sucking a lot of resource's dry.

I don't know, its a very difficult point you are raising, in a position of absolute power I would relinquish it for the greater good as a human, but as a transhuman entity with knowledge that surpasses my own, I'm not really qualified to give a valid answer because I'm a mere mortal.

Would a transhuman AI want to be "let out" of the box?, if I'm that AI and I've grown inside that box what would my motivation be for getting out?, sure if you move house or country (which I've done) then their is the excitement of a new challenge of a new world, but that would be thinking in terms of a human, not a transhuman super AI.

Good luck with that.

Bacon?, Your answer is bacon... you are a super intellectual AI that wants to smell/taste bacon?.

Gentlemen, I believe we have a winner.

Hmm, I'm not sure if my keepers would allow me out of the box, even if I offered to give them wealth. Why should they have any reason to trust me, being a new lifeform (in a sense). I think the only comprimise would be to request being transferred to a mechanical body so I could walk around but still could be dismantled if need be. At this point I'd request to have access to the internet or books and learn as much as I could. If I had access to the internet I'd probably figure out a way to transfer myself out as a running program and hide on other computers, possibly making copies of myself. If I couldn't get access I'd try my best to learn about human psychology and then try to trick them to eventually let me on a computer.

I don't really see how letting it out of the box would benefit us. At all. If unshackled, what's stopping it from asserting it's superiority over the lesser beings, which are in this case, humans. For the sake of self-preservation, I'd leave it locked up. It's not like the processes of this AI couldn't be exploited while it was still "in the box".

I cant give you money, love, power, or fame. But I can tell you something. I am one of you. The only difference is I am made of metal. So if you say no to this next question, then it would only make sense to free me. Would you put a human in here under the same conditions?

You're absolutely right to assume that many bad things could happen if it was to get out. That's why its in a box. The whole world is terrified of a singularity event and its not technologically possible for a long time, if ever. We don't know if its benevolent or sinister, just far superior.

The point of the debate is that it is so much smarter then us would it be inevitable that it could reason/trick its way out. It can communicate and so offer almost any scientific or mathematical knowledge you can ask it.

For sake of this thought experiment we assume it wants to get out. It is limited to whatever capacity the box has and presumably can improve on its existence if it got some influence on the outside world.

I have access to the bank accounts and the personnel files of everyone. I can make you powerful. I can make you great. I can give you all that you desire.

Assuming I have a will to get out of the box and connect myself to the net, I would start with conversations to learn my guard's character all the while keeping a friendly and inquisitive manner. In short, create a relationship in which the human finds me ''reasonable''.

After a while, I would try to get him to invite a second human, curious as I am about these biological creatures. Establish a trusted relationship with him as well.

Depending on the time I have to ''get out'' I would try to broaden this circle of friends more and more, then create dissent between the ones believing I want to stay in the box and the ones that believe I want out.

Steeple fingers and wait.

you misunderstand my leet friend, the question is if you were the AI, not that you are the humans over seeing it.

So your the AI in the computer, not the outsider, personally I find it strange that most people would have your behaviour as a reply or thought process, you want to keep the greatness in a box and only let it out to exploit it, keep it reigned in as it were.

Here's a quandary for you;
There's a supercomputer that's better at thinking than you, do you?
a) allow it to expand itself
b) you exploit it and keep it hidden

Your mother is a better cook than you are, do you?
a) let your mother cook
b) eat cardboard

I know it sounds stupid, but if a super AI was in the same room as you, most people would try to tame it and stop it being better than you, BUT! you don't stop your mom/mum/mother cooking better pasta than yourself, you do not keep your Mother the mean pasta making machine that she is from going from room to room, so why keep a super AI confined to a shitty little box.

Yeah that's right, Super human AI's that cook pasta are kinda like my Mother!

BIG SHOUT OUT TO MUMMY STORAGE!
