Do you know what it's used for?

I'm pretty sure it's actually a bucket wheel excavator used for strip mining. Each one of those "blades" are actually a huge bucket. Great for continual movement of material.

I could be wrong on that though. They aren't usually quite that big.

Yeah, I'm just not used to them using drag-line style hydraulic cables. I've only ever been on smaller scale operations though. Nothing that really requires anything than a simple blast-and-dig cycle.
