This is the reason I can't be scared of it, because I can't stop thinking about this video.

Ah! This old internet chestnut. A little while ago i read a thread saying that this guy had a great idea for a horror game. A game where you were being hunted by the slender man. When originaly read that thread i had no idea who or what the slenderman was. There was an abundance of links given to short videos about the slenderman. I became curious so i watched some of the video's and the momments after that led to an extended period of sleepless nights and elevated electricity bills.

For those of you still in the dark of this strange figure i shall post a link below explaining what this thing is

For those of you who do know of the slenderman will most likely know that it's quite pants filling creepy. As i delved deeper into the scene surrounding the slenderman i became somewhat determind to find out as much as i could about this guy, I didn't like what i had stumbled upon and became childishly paranoid about what is essentially an internet myth.

Depending on the responce to this thread i shall continue to tell of my experience of how i became phobic o the slenderman

P.S this thread has probly been done before and i apologise for that.
P.P.S I know the slenderman is old news but im intrested in reading about your experiences
p.p.p.s I know it's all fake
A documentary of the slenderman

I did my research on him like you and I will put everyones fear to ease. He is not real, don't concern yourself with the frivolous back story an insurmountable amount of people have given him. There was one person who thought him up and posted him on some website designed for scary stories and other such nonsense, since that day people have used him time and time again and even given him a back story. The few photos that show him are photo shopped, the guy who created him (or someone else who was there when it was first created) decided to edit a few pictures and add unclear, shaky figures/silhouettes. Most other alleged facts on the Slender Man are not facts at all, they are usually lies, opinions, theories and people who have self induced fear putting together pieces that aren't there.

In conclusion, The Slender Man is a nifty internet meme, nothing to get to worked up over.

Slender Man mythos is a nice one. It's clearly fake, as every single image of him is obviously edited, anyone with experience in editing photos and such can see that in an instant.

That said, it's nice to have folk tales like this still exist, but with nobody really taking it seriously. Stimulates the mind.

I looked into it in a 7 day period, extending my sleepless nights by a good week or so more than I needed to. I know it's fake, but the Slender Man is something that really piques my interest. Maybe even give the guy a backstory as to who he was, who he is, why he chases children out of his forest, what about him makes him so scary. I have an interesting idea that I really want to follow up on at some point.

Just so you know barricades won't stop him from manifesting and give you the sudden urge to put on new pants
Well, they will in the physical sense. The idea is that he is of physical and of spiritual existence and is limited in the physical plane. So the barricades would stop him for a brief period of time but he isn't limited to when you sleep. As you walk, when you feel those cold eyes watching you from behind, he's there. He doesn't want to catch you, he wants you to suffer under the fear of him being right there behind you, as you breath, and you being able to do not one thing about it. Leave your door open and he will enter while you sleep. Leave your window open and he will get in while you're out. Drive to work faster than you should and you'll find his cold stare looking at you, bleeding you from the inside, the second you get out.

There is no escape. No barricades can stop him forever. No speed can out run him. He's already in your head, he's got you already. Now all you can do is run. Run from him, run from your home, run from yourself.

Sleep tight.
Except he is really a metaphysical idea made by one person. This is what I don't get, he is an internet meme, the pictures are faked. The fact that there is a being that can do that and does kill and destroy, that will ruin a families lives would probably mean he is the physical embodiment of chaos, evil, death, destruction and pain. To believe in something like that would just scare you and turn you into someone who is overly paranoid about a metaphysical monster, a lot like people who are shit scared at ghosts all the time.

If I knew how to post images I'd post a picture of a starving little African and note how intensely creepy he was.

On that note the slenderman needs to see a psychiatrist about his eating disorders.

Because at the very core of a person is the idea of mind over matter. It's why we believe in things we cannot see: ghosts, deities, Slender Man etc. It's something we want to believe because we like the idea of it existing. That is how and why we change what he is from being your physical embodiment of chaos and destruction to my physical, mental and spiritual embodiment of pain, fear and suffering.

It's the beauty of how the human mind is. Because we want him to exist, he exists. I'm pretty sure this is one of the basic principles of many cultures and religions; Buddhism being one of them, if I'm not mistaken.

Slenderman is a pretty cool guy, he steals children and doesn't afraid of anything.
Well, he is scary, but nothing compared to The Grifter. Damn man.
Nevermind The Grifter, or Slenderman... the truely most terrible creature is Candlejack. You know he is ju

Ok, enough memes. But yeah, Marble Hornets is a great source of entertainment. I really love the plot, and the way it's produced and keeps the tension.

Marble Hornets is still my favourite horror film... I was in a campavan with three friends (all of us 14 or 15) watching The Hills Have Eyes at about 11pm, it just doesn't compare.

But now I've seen Concrete Giraffes and there goes that xD

All seems pretty creepy to me, but i ain't buying his existence. Mainly due to the corny fake documentary. Might have to do some more digging on it though.

I've never heard of the slender man before. So gj bringing it to light even if its old news.

I don't find the story of slenderman disturbing, I find the things your brain can create given an unknown figure of fear disturbing. Seriously, think that you should be scared of something you don't know anything about, and then walk around at night for awhile, your brain fucks with you quite a bit.

Hey, what's that to the left? Is that OH THAT'S MY AVATAR! If that scares you, watch Band of Brothers... >.>
[sub]I too am scared of clowns[/sub]

The Slender Man can freak me out at times because I scare easy but otherwise he's not that creepy. Note that I live behind a bush/forest -_-

I couldn't watch that video. I had to just pause it and click along the timeline. Especially through the videos.

I always hate the Slender Man legend. I wasn't sleeping tonight annyway, but now even more than ever because of this fucking thread.

I really wanted to get into this whole phenomenon a while ago, but it kind of ruined itself for me. The thing that killed my interest in the slender man was that fake documentary where they had "sound files" or whatever. They could have done it really effectively, but they made it so over the top that it just became hilarious. The ones where it's just pictures and music are way more effective, at least for me.

Note to any prospective "slender man video" makers, if you want to include a clip of his voice caught on tape, make it short, and not a minute of a guy talking in obvious voice effects. It's a lot more believable if it's just a breath or one word.

Holy crap, I was reading this topic and no joke a large box in my closet fell, making an incredibly loud noise, and I almost shit my pants no joke.

But yeah, that Yu-Gi-Oh video is like the definition of Nightmare Fuel retardant.
