There are many reasons to lose respect for humanity, some that especially get to me include:
people blaming video games and movies for violent behaviour, high school as the only way to be popular is to be stupid and hook up with sluts but one thing that bothers me the most is the inability to trust anyone anymore
for example

I broke up with my gf of 4 years and wasnt really over her, my friends knew this

Friend one started sleeping with her
Friend two arranged for friend one to sleep with her
Friends 3 and 4 knew what was going on but didnt have the decency to tell me about it

on the plus side this thread gives me faith that im not alone in hating the people of the world

Some others have mentioned this but if you really want to see the worst in people work in retail, do shopping centres just attract to lows of society or is there some mental switch that causes all people to become assholes when they entre a shop?

Politics, War, Celebrities, Rasism, The English Measuring System and why my country still uses it, the works.

By what I've learned, the enlish measurement system originated in medieval times. The system was based on the king. Like the foot. Our fucking country is the only one I know of that still uses it.

In social studies class, our teacher had us draw a world map from memory. Afterwards he told us a story of a girl. She drew California as an ISLAND. The teacher told her, "I think you might have drawn California wrong...", to which the girl replied, "Well, I should know. I was born there."

Fanboyism. This guy is a prime example.

Sorry guys I will brb I got a thread with a bunch of 360ards to bash, Also 360tards make me lose respect in humanity.
And another one.. definitely close minded, but I just can't stand when people tell me that they truly believe Holy Diver was written by Emoswitch Engage, and even if they've heard the ORIGINAL version, they still tell me that the god awful remix is better.

Everyone has their own music interests, but I couldn't help myself with that last one.
It was a joke, I guess my sarcasm was missed there.
Indeed. My apologies.
No problem, I'm trying to keep a better tap on my sarcasm since it has got me banned twice.

Mainstream music. I know I'm hardly one to harp on someone's personal music taste, being the only person on the planet to actually like the leaked new Guns and Roses song and all, but I have never heard such bland, repetitive oatmeal spooned into unwilling ears as from soft rock radio stations. I want to boot Josh Groban into the Twilight Zone. I want to lock the entirety of Coldplay into a high-school gym locker and throw them into the Arctic Ocean.

The phrase "everyday shopping".

An average commercial break. Being Canadian, American drug commercials sometimes filter up here, causing my mouth to gape and mind to run with incredulous sputtering. My current favorite hilariously bullshit drug commercial is the Cymbalta one [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX-RryzCG8E], if only for the increasingly awful list of side-effects trailing like a constipated comet tail behind the moody oboe music and grinning, medicated cat ladies.

1) Any arguing along the lines of "I will keep having this opinion because I formed it a long time ago and I don't give a hoot about any of your arguments".

Commonly found for instance among people who are opposed to nuclear power. They formed their opinion in the -70's and -80's and destpite clubbing them over the head with fact that nuclear power is as safe and, and as clean as (or better) than pretty much any other form of mass produced power, they still argue from the standpoint that nuclear power plants are made hair-trigger nuclear bombs wrapped in papier maché.

2) Any arguing along the lines of "If you don't have the faith I do, you're condemned and a bad person".

Commonly found in religious people all over the world. My response: if your faith works for you, then I'm happy for you. Good on ya mate that you have found a way to be happy! But when you start to talk trash me and try to force your faith down my very unwilling throat, then you can expect nothing but hostility from me.

Just this morning there was some preacher on the commuter train (again) trying to convert people to his faith with the argument that only by believeing what he does would you escape eternal torment. I don't know about other countries but here it is exceedingly rare with this sort of public preaching. People were getting pretty pissed off at him and even the train crew announced over the P.A. that if anyone felt bothered about him they were free to call the police (since the train crew are not allowed to evict anyone from a train unless there is an emergency that demands it).

3) The Sum of the Qualities is Contstant bullshit.

What is that really? Well... if I say to you that I think Paris Hilton is a pretty clever business-woman, your very own reaction is just that.

If I say that I think:

- Rich people are not greedy assholes.
- Glamour- and supermodels are not superficial bimbos.
- Cops are not violent power-junkies and uniform fetichists.
- University-educated people are generally quite socially competent.
- Politicians have a genuine desire to make things better for the citizens.

...your reaction of thinking me being a naive idiot because "everyone knows" for instance glamour-queens like Paris Hilton are all just stupid and unhappy under the facade is a shining example of the belief that the sum of qualities in a person is constant. If a person has something that you don't, then there must be something wrong with them... because heaven forbid that anyone would actually have a better life than you!

And this pettiness... the practice of dragging other people down in the dirt just so that your own life in comparison will not seem like the shitpile it is, irks me somtheing fierce.

1) Depends on the rich person, some clearly are and they're the ones you tend to hear about mainly because they are greedy bastards and that attracts attention.
2) Again, depends on the glamour/supermodel but until proven otherwise I'll judge them on the tripe that they say/write/is attributed to them.
3) Most cop's aren't evil, the only reason you might have an impression that is the case is because you don't tend to hear about the ones doing their job.
4) Being a university student myself I can honestly say I've never heard anyone say otherwise... and I've worked as a bin-man.
5)Probably true for some, but to be honest they way mainstream politics, you know, the politics you hear about in the news, is going I'm pretty cynical about politcians in general. Not to say there aren't good people out there, unfortunatly its the bad ones you hear about.

Moral of the story, good news is boring, the media doesn't report it. Because it's boring. Go switch to the "good news channel" on TV or read a "good news" newspaper or internet site. They're boring.

Oh and, I don't think Paris Hilton is a particularly clever buisiness woman, because she's not proven it yet almost all of her money is from her parents her being the heiress to hilton hotels: http://www.hilton.co.uk/SiteHomePage, she's simply an exhibitonist who wants attention, she's probably having a great time (Bar the whole... you know... prison thing) but that doesn't make her clever.

Oh and I find you implication that shitpiles are bad annoying, as an archaeologist shitpiles are fairly interesting... if disgusting, the stuff people throw away, even bodily waste matter, can tell you alot about them.

What does make me lose faith in humanity are people who dwell on the internet and their general spoutings. The internet is interesting and fun... but so are other things.

Heh... and here we have a few more examples of things that make me lose respect in humanity.

4) People that think they have the right to label women "sluts" and talk dirt about them just because they don't have the kind of dresscode or sexual- and relationship practices that are deemed "approriate" for women. I respect these kinds of condeming jerk - and yes, I am talking to you too gumbercules - infinately less than I do any miniskirt & makeup-wearing cumbucket.

A whore deserves more respect than the people that labels her a whore.

A free person is free to do whatever they like within the confines of the law and noone else can or shall stand there like some moral superjudge and think they have the right to talk shit about them!

5) People that think they have some kind of right to demand that people they are not in a relationship with abstain from having relationships with others.

You guys broke up! End of story!! You have no right to demand her abstaining, nor do you have any right to know that she's not. It's not your business any more and you being such a delusional obsessive that you think you have the right to talk down on people just because of you not having the decency or good graces to let go.... well that is just a negative 42 on the respect scale right there.

You don't own her... so let GO!

Thank you for proving my point. You'd never label a common man like you do those kinds of people. You'd never say "Oh I think that guy - which I dont' know in the slightest - is greedy, stupid and generally dislikable" becuase then this nagging little thing called a concience is teh back of your head would say that these assumptions are unfair until you actually know the guy and get it proven that he is deserving of such negative labels.

But with supermodels and politicians... hey, after all, these people are not people after all... are they? I mean, they brought it upon themselves... if they want to be in the limelight, they gotta be prepared. It's to be expected...

This sort of thing makes me lose respect for the people that say it. Celebrities and public people deserve exactly the same kind of respect that does the average Joe & Jane does. Still people think they have some kind of right to bypass that. In my not very humble opinion: they don't have that right.

Oh sure, everyone has the right to form opinions... but it is also my right to form opinions about the peopel who do that. Reap what is being sowed...

I hate it when people get it into their heads that swearing is the only possible way of being offensive when communicating verbally. I've gotten banned twice here, and on both occasions the other guy was saying something far, far more offensive than I was, but because I sweared I was the only one to get the banstick. You could probably make a post here about how you molested your daughter and it would be okay because at least you didn't tell anyone to fuck off.

Escapist moderators, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Mod sass will get you banned too...
I hate those retarts who sue for doing something stupid to themselves with a product
For example; on a package of precision screwdrivers "do not stick in penis". that means someone has done that and sued...and probably won for being a retart. At least that means they won't breed

first of all you dont know any of the fatcs apart from my very simple summary right there which is only a small part of what actually happened, so you have absoulutely no grounds to judge me on how i feel. Secondly, the point im makeing isnt that im pissed with her for doing in, if u actually read what i wrote you will see that im pissed at my friends for lying to me for so long about what happened. My point being that i have no respect for humanity because you cant even trust your friends not to screw you over anymore.

And when i say sluts, i dont mean girls who dress a certain way, i mean girls who have slept with half of their year level before reaching year 12 (ie before they graduate) i have no problem with people having sex with however they want, but at the end of the day all it does is make you appear cheap

or could it be that your pissed at me cos u were such a person in high school?

Global warming. More generally a non-scientific view of things that should be looked at scientifically. Can we definitively prove that it's us heating the Earth? Or is it some natural trend that we don't know about?
In short, Al Gore should go fuck himself.

I hate it when people take a stand on an issue without first becoming well informed. How the hell do they expect to make valid arguments when they are ignorant morons?

I lost respect for humanity a long time ago, but I can make a short list of the ones things that aren't exactly winning me back:

-All reality television and the obsession with it.
-The entire abstract art movement which takes all talent and skill out of the equation and replaces it with "interpretation".
-The fact that more people vote in American Idol than in a U.S. Presidential election.
-Cell phones have become an essential, even among children
-The internet
-Abortion is legal but assisted suicide is outlawed
-I can spill coffee on myself and sue whomever sold it to me on the ground that they didn't tell me it was hot
-When presented with a 25 year old patient suffering from hemiparesis two hospitals will conduct numerous blood tests, a chest x-ray, a transesophogeal ecocardiogram, two cat scans, and an MRI (all totaling about 36 hours of tests) before coming up with the diagnosis that the patient figured out 5 minutes after the onset of symptoms. No, I'm not bitter.
-The turn signal has become the vestigial organ of most cars.
Are you the reincarnation of me 10 years from now ? Either way I think I love you (or at least I share your opinions).

Also I'd like to add:
-People who choose less subjects in school (and easy subjects) so that they will be able to be off more.
-The only way to truly gain respect(so far) in the areas where I've lived is either by wealth, appearance or intimidation. So unless you are rich, handsome or dangerous you are not entitled to the respect everyone deserves.
-The way our youth uses alcohol.
-"Yo mama!"
-MTV
-The fact that with the right marketing any kind of crap can be sold.

I'm sure there's more lurking in the back of my head.

The fact that there's a big ol' growing hole in the ozone layer is a pretty valid arguement me thinks.
