A Real Conversation I had:

"Did we nuke Japan?"

"Yes, twice."

"REALLY?"

There are people in their mid-20s in the United States who don't know that we nuked Japan. And no, I don't live in the south.

Other things that make me die a little inside:

People who think scientists are some sort of liberal elite who hate God and Capitalism. Yeah guys, we just made global warming and evolutionary theory up so we could revive Mother Russia. Also, modern medicine was just a ruse so we could hoard all the leeches.

Suburbanite emos and gangbangers - emo kid, you have a home, clothing, probably a car, and you aren't being shot at, bombed, starved to death, or beaten by riot cops for having the gall to want clean drinking water. You already have it considerably better than half the world's population; What are you so damn depressed about? And why did you pick the absolute worst way of killing yourself over it? And Mr. Gangster, you aren't nearly close enough to the ghetto for that bandana and lowrider to not look ridiculous. You did not grow up popping caps at the po-po. Your dad is a middle-school principal and you live in the nice end of town.

There's more, of course, but this post is already long and I have to finish putting the spinners on my Camry.

Re: The children behaving like little shits thing - I really don't think hitting your kids is the answer. Not that I'm one of those 'ZOMG think of teh childrens!' types, I just don't think it's particularly effective. My mom used to try spanking me for every little thing and honestly I think it just made me more belligerent. On the other hand, my dad almost never did (spanking) and I almost always behaved when he was around.

I think the important thing is respect. Parents act less like role models, mentors and teachers nowadays, and more like providers (which they are, of course, but it should go beyond THAT) or 'buddies.'

Of course, it doesn't help that the parents keep getting divorced and working 50-60 hours a week. Or that being a jackass nowadays will probably get you either a lawsuit settlement or a TV show if you're persistent enough at it.

People who will spend money every week to make sure some random dickhead who wants instant fame and doesnt have any skills what so ever will win this years boring pointless reality show and then refuse to send just £2 a month to a charity so people can get clean drinking water.

Also i dont know if you get this in other countries but we sure do in Britain. People who have comited a crime, get caught by the police but instead of going
"Yes officer, i was riding a motor cycle that was obviosly stolen, with no number plate, not wearing a helmet, under the influence, underage, holding a bag full of stolen car radios, driving on the path, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving through red lights, speeding, making offensive hand gestures at you, puting my life and others in danger" they make it worse for themselves by swearing at the officer, swinging at them, making all kinds of offensive comments, trying to run away, spiting at them and all the time shouting "I have not done anything wrong" when they know all of it has been cought on camera.

Well, just the existence of the internet has fast tracked my disgust for humanity. In no way am I saying I wish it didn't exist because I love fuelling my hatred for the world, but with out it I probably would not laugh at people being severely injured, be more of an innocent, less desensitized, and I never would have seen 2 girls 1 cup. If you haven't lost faith in humanity and never seen that video it will change your veiw of humanity forever...............I'm really not recommending it though.

I hate when people claim that Coldplay are a good band. They're good BLAND if anything... (der dum tshh) come to think of it, modern music tends to bring a massive sense of disappointment in humanity upon me; I can't stand indie.. Kate Nash can swivel too..

This morning a gentleman passed me on the freeway in his car. Said car was green with a picture of Oscar the Grouch painted on the side. Yes, I said Oscar the F*cking Grouch. He also had silver "22's" sticker on the back of the car. Sadly, his car was sans "22's". I take it as a sign of the growing economic hardship when the Grouch mobile has its rims repossessed by the rim rental place. (Yes, you can rent rims. sigh.) Unfortunately the Grouch mobile isn't the only one of its kind of seen around town. I've seen Skittles, Snickers, and Lucky Charms variants of the same kind of set up. Why someone would pay (or rent) $4,000 rims for a $300 car is beyond me, but I lose a little more faith in humanity every time I see one.

Religion in general, though I suppose that isn't a "small" thing... still it makes me disappointed in humanity.

I've said it before, and I'll happily say it again. Paris Hilton and Reality TV. The fact that both of these things (yes Paris Hilton should hereafter be referred to as a thing not a person) exist and are successful to some degree, makes me die a little inside.

Also the internet. It's a silly, wonderful, disgusting and freakish place.

What about you? What things make you hate your fellow man?
Every minute I spend in this God-forsaken wasteland of stupidity called the Internet brings me that much closer to embracing sweet death. Sometimes I think I'm the last sane and intelligent person left on the planet. The vast, vast majority of people are so stupid that it's a miracle they even know how to breathe, let alone operate a computer.

As you may have noticed that's a subject that covers oceans. But I'll try and list a few things that apply to new people I'm just getting to meet instead of retreading Jack Thompson and Dubya etc.

-3 Respect Points if you smoke and are my age or less. Most adults either got hooked before they knew how bad it was or figure a few years either way won't hurt, so I kind of understand them. But our generation? We are bombarded DAY IN DAY OUT by anti-smoking jargon (which gets annoying when you're not one). There is not ONE SINGLE FACT that could have possibly encouraged you to try it save for peer pressure. Double this if you blow the smoke in the faces of anyone with the misfortune to be near you (happens a lot at work). Double again if you throw out the still-smouldering butt on the street/grass/road without even putting it out.

-3 Respect Points if you bash on homosexuals. 'Gay' really should've stopped being a valid insult around 2000ish. I myself am not one, but I don't have to be to understand all the discrimination they face. My girlfriend insists it's something determined biologically from the start (she should know, she's majoring in Biology), but I'll leave that up in the air since that sounds like an instant recipe for bloodthirsty flame wars. Triple this figure if said person claims they shouldn't exist 'because it's against what God intended'.

-2 Respect points for listening to nothing but 'Screamer' music. Double this if you sing the lyrics out loud.

Capitalism, which is inconvenient considering how integral it is to the gaming liftstyle. I live my entire life in a paroxysm of cynicism, hatred and disgust. Well sort of.
Also celebrity gossip, chavs and other such scum, pretentiousness (eg: people who refuse to listen to rap or dance music just because they're 'emo' etc.), ignorance and stupidity, city-dwellers insisting on buying SUVs and wars.

I got a few new ones.

Kids who get away with literally screaming and cussing at their parents for not getting their way, and the parents who don't smack the shit out of them for doing so.

Bill O'Reilly, the fact that he has a show, the fact that he is payed for this show, and the fact that people watch his show.

People who endlessly spout off about how music they personally don't like is "complete and utter shit" and say things like "how can people listen to that noise?". There's alot, ALOT of music I dislike, but I somehow manage to not write long essays about how much I hate them. I just, ya know, don't listen to them. If I hate something that is avoidable, then I don't really need to express my dislike for it beyond NOT LISTENING TO IT.

I got another one.

This fellow I went to school with was an admitted druggie. Now, I have nothing against pot-users and what not, but he did it all, coke, pot, pills, crazy stuff. He has also bragged about how he once knocked out a hooker on the street with a brick because he thought it'd be funny, and to him it was HILARIOUS! This guy has a girl friend, girls who cheat with him on said girl friend, and the love of half the student body at that school.

And to make it worse, he's like, 5'6" and looks something like a rat in the face. There's actually two guys who went to my school who fit the same description and got the same attention, except one was blonde and one was brown haired.

Which apparently proves the point that if you want to get laid, be the biggest asshole you can imagine and it'll more than likely work.

Also, I can't stand people who insult people for being intelligent or for reading books. Because apparently you are a foolish social retard if you like anything that's intellectualy engaging.

I think I'm learning why I started listening to death metal...
People who feel angsty.

If you see someone one up you in something, who cares? Who cares if there's a perceived injustice in the world? Don't bother feeling moody or angsty, just move on. There's plenty of other things you can focus on. Hell, if people get on your back about reading books, just ignore them and dive back in to the story. You see some asshole get a date? Ignore it! There's no reason to rob them of such happiness, they've every right to it as nice folk.
I'm not angsty about it, it just makes me, again, lose respect for people. I get dates, I get girls, and I'm not one of those people who are insulted for reading. I'm one of the few I guess who are decent enough at social interaction to avoid any of that, but I see it happen to other people, someone will say it to me, and all I can say (without starting a fight) is "Whatever, man...".

I'm not sad about it, maybe a little "confused" or even "frustrated" about the logic that goes into it, but not angsty. I just lose respect for those people, and people in mass. Like, I'm the kinda guy who hates "people" (hate is a harsh word, maybe... dislikes?) but enjoys a group of individuals. And incidents like this, and the common occurence of those events make me dislike "people" even more.

Am I making sense?

And you have Nietzche as an avatar, how are you going to give me a "your being angsty" response when you have the King of Nihilism as your representative picture?
Yeah, seeing as how Nietzsche wasn't a nihilist and was actually very exuberant and life-affirming... you've just shown everyone how little you know about Nietzsche. Nietzsche actually dedicated himself to the defeat of nihilism and, although he saw it as a necessary part of human spiritual development, he did not see it as the apex of said development. I suggest you actually READ some of Nietzsche to understand just how much he despised it. Some topics to start with: his theory of the ubermensch and his exploration of the Apollonian vs. Dionysian dichotomy.

Here's a couple:

1. People my own age. Just a bunch of girls that look slutty and boys that are total dicks but get all the women.

2. People in general. Most of them are stupid and I just can't stand it. (I'm not calling myself a genius or anything, it's just that some of these people are so ignorant it's astonishing).

Okay, so me and my family go out to dinner. We are just having a nice chat with out waitress and it comes up that my brother is in the army and has just returned from Iraq.

Waitress: Wow, that's so interesting!
My Dad (he likes to mess around with people. he also hates people): Yeah, he bought a beach house over there.
Waitress: Really? I bet it's nice.
My Brother: Oh yeah, it's the best.

[/facepalm]
