"THE WORDS OF THE LEVIATHAN!" Luther howled and began thrashing the book with his cross. It was like he had seen it before, and his life depended on destroying it.
One of the others, he couldn't make out who, hooked thier arms around his chest and began dragging him away from the book.
"NO NO NO NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! The words of beasts beyond this world and time! Terrible unforgivable power! The vessel through which the end of times is preserved! PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN!"
Luther thrashed violently then snapped still, perfectly prone. He lay on the ground, eyes wide open, pupils dilated to the brink. Alive, but somehow gone.

Hunter grabbed the poor soul by the scruff of the neck and violently shook him. "WAKE UP DAMNIT! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!" Arthur and John had to pry Hunter's hands away from Luther. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" John forcefully asked, "Do you want those things to find us?"
Hunter began to calm down and shook his head. "You're right, never even got the bastard's name. He was trying to warn us of something, and this book is the key to figuring out what."
Hunter looked up to the stars for comfort, only to witness each one snuffed out like the flame of a candle.

Great, you went where I hoped you would go however, I really don't want to kill a character so soon, and I think this makes for an interesting twist
*ahem*
"What the f*** just happened?" Hunter looked at the book again, and it began to glow. The cross Luther clutched began to turn a sickening green as etherial tentrils began to encompass it. Luther's body was now covered in a green mist, and the strange tome shot a wretched ray of twisted energy into it. Luther shot up and spat foul sludge onto the road. The tome flew out of Hunter's hands and into Luther's. He turned and faced the startled group with a warm smile. For the first time in 20 years, the book gave him humanity again.
I don't mean to be a jerk, but I would prefer you ask me before you take over my character like that, because that isn't at all what I had in mind for him, and the Necronomicon doesn't restore peoples' sanity, in fact it dose quite the opposite. So I guess what I'm saying is that it would be nice if you could retcon that post.
"that book, i've seen it before, back when this happened at the old school." slowly Johnathan lit a cigarette and offered the box to the rest of the group. "some foolish professor at the university where i taught had found it on an expedition, he thought it would give me him some sort of power, the results of his foolish attempts led to many an innocent life being lost." turning his gaze to the silver lighter in his hand. "i vote we burn it, here and now, make sure history does not repeat itself."

Hunter accepted a cigarette and looked at the book once more. "No, at least not now. This book contains secrets we may not be able to afford losing. Your professor may have been on to something. The real question is, why would a professor and a deranged priest want the same book?"
Jonathan sighed and placed the lighter back in his pocket, "i vote we find out right now" moving faster than a 63 year old man should be able to john grabbed the mad priest by his collar and hoisted him against a wall. "WHERE DID YOU GET THIS CURSED BOOK AND WHY DO YOU HAVE IT, NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM IT!!!!"
Sorry, just got back from a trip. Will be posting a lot more now
Arthur looked around, still holding the metal pipe in his hands. He had sat back as everyone had started fighting over the tome, so he turned and stalked off, getting away from the arguing voices. Arthur was distant, like a walking zombie.
He was walking away as the old man threw the priest against the wall. Arthur didn't care. Arthur didn't care about any of this. But the priest had tried to hurt Angel. He had cared about that. No one hurts Angel. He saw Angel lying down next to him, and he sat and patted her.
When he ran his hand along her golden fur, the spark of life glinted back in his eyes. When he took his hand away and walked over the other side of the alley way, the spark died. Arthur stood there, staring across the road. There was a kennel, where a house should be, a kennel that was falling down and breaking apart.
As he staggered across the street, he heard a growling from the kennel. He walked straight ahead, and swung the gate open. A dog-beast walked out of the kennel, growling softly at this bag of meat. The dog beast looked like any other dog, expect it was jet-black and it's head was bigger than the rest of it's body. But it wasn't the head, really. Just the giant, open mouth, filled with razor teeth. It half dragged it's head along. It growled.
Arthur knew that this meant bad, so he tensed, and swung his metal pipe at the dog. The swing was slow and lazy, and the dog jumped back.
The dog quickly acted by leaping forwards and grabbing Arthur's arm. Arthur tried smacking it, but the smacks were heavy and slow, like Arthur didn't really care that a dog was attacking him. He felt a tooth sink into his hand, but he didn't even yelp. The dogs mouth was mostly full of the pipe, but it was trying to crunch through it to bite Arthur's arm off.
Arthur found himself on the ground, his arm failing. Moments before his arm collapsed, Angel appeared beside him. He grabbed her, and pulled her close. Time seemed to slow, with the dog biting in slow motion and for the first time ever, Angel moved. She stood up, and leapt at the daemon-dog. She flung herself through the air, and impacted with the beast. As it went flying backwards, she disappeared into a haze of gold, and Arthur found he had strength.
He jumped up and swung at the dazed dog. Once, twice, three times. He caved it's skull in, it's brains flying out against the ground.
Arthur stood up, and walked back into the alley. Angel appeared beside him and trotted along. He surprised himself by speaking. "Angel?!?" He looked shocked, like the sound of his own voice was new. Angel barked softly and walked alongside him. The spark was back in his eyes.
He walked back over, before anyone said anything, he looked around. "How did I get here?"
Also, just to clear it up, when I said Angel was moving before, I meant like she would "move" when no one was looking, and be frozen like a statue when they were. She is now actually walking.
Slowly Jonathon lowered the priest to the ground. "i apologize for that outburst, believe me when i say that while that book does bring power, its power that cannot and should not be controlled by mortal men" he slowly began to load rounds into the old repeater. "Last man who thought he could use that book was ripped apart by the very creatures he had summoned with it" From his jacket he then produced an old photo, "here see, that man was the professor who used it, he was my friend" the picture is old and grainy but clearly shown are Jonathan (20 years younger roughly) and a relatively handsome man in what appears to be a monks robe. he stowed the picture in his jacket before pulling an old British service revolver from his belt, "this was his, didn't serve him much good against his own creations" he loaded it quickly and then offered it and a box of ammo to Arthur. "here these beasts don't react to hell to a rusty bit of metal, perhaps you may prefer some hot lead as well?"

"You knew him?" Hunter seemed surprised at the news. "And just what do you mean by beasts? And you there, boy, you are in the biggest s***storm I have ever witnessed, fighting for your life. Our best hope for survival is currently insane and in a coma, and what I believe are wormholes leading to horrific planes of existence are sprouting up like weeds across the entire town. All we've got going for us is a couple of guns and a book in a language we don't understand that has the power to end the world. Calling it doomsday is an understatement."
Arthur went to take the gun when he realised the bloodied and bent bit of metal was still in his hands. "Urgh!" He shook as much blood off his hand as he could then grabbed the revolver. "Well, that kinda makes sense. Whenever I try to remember what happened, it is all just a blur, except for a few moments."
"I think I remember lying on a street with some dead monster near me, and then going into this alley, and then walking out the other end. Oh yeah, and when I woke up, I was lying on the ground, and some kind of dog-thing with a huge mouth was lying on the ground, like, dazed or something. I crushed it's head with that," Arthur pointed to the pipe. "and then came back here."
Arthur looked down at the tome and then back at the priest. "Huh. Well, I'll be climbing this ladder if you need me."
Arthur turned and walked over to the rusty old ladder where he had torn the metal pipe from. He looked up the whole thing. It was rusty and falling apart, but it might hold.

Hunter grabbed Arthur swiftly and pulled him back. "Like hell you are. We need everyone together. For now, lets get the crazy preacher to spread his word." Hunter pulled the cigerette from his mouth and moved toward Luther.
Arthur was yanked back by the man with the shotgun. "Get you're friggin' hands off me!" Arthur shoved him and jumped away. "Have you seen those things? Dogs with giant frickin' heads. Damn wormholes that spew out monsters! There is no way in hell that I am staying here. You can get your asses bitten off, I am getting out of here."
Arthur made sure Angel was following him, and walked back over to the ladder. As he grabbed the bottom rungs, the ladder creaked. He started to climb up, and when he got up to the sixth rung, the ladder squealed and tore off the side of the building. Arthur was thrown backwards, and rolled sideways as the ladder crashed down right where he was laying moments ago.
"huge headed dogs?", a look of shock filled Johnathan face, "yeah, id hoped it hadnt gone this far, as to your question mr. shotgun, yes i knew him. but its not a story for hear in the unguarded ally way, i know of an old pub 2 blocks over, thing looks like it was built to stop an army so we should be safe there. as for the beasts, they are monstrosity's not of this world, some are beyond human belief." a look of fear and dread seemed to spread throughout the mans body, "things that steal a mans very will to survive, massive shambling monsters, and above all else the eyes always watching you....we should get out of hear....NOW!!!"

Arthur swore once more then jumped up and ran after the others. He fitted the revolver in the side of his pants. He realised that these weren't his pants. Or his top. Arthur sighed and kept running, Angel just in front.
Jonathan led them through the deserted streets pausing every hundred feet or so to stop and listen, just to make sure they were not being followed. eventually they made it to the old pub. "when this place was new, oh you should have seen it, now its just a washed up place where delinquents come to get their kicks." he then walked around to the side and unceremoniously busted out one of the windows. "and tomorrow nobody will even bat an eye at this. everybody get in, im sure something will have heard that glass breaking." he used his lighter to ignite an oil lamp sitting at a table, then he sat and pulled out his smokes.
Arthur clambered in the window and looked round. His hand was on the revolver. Moments later, Angel dove through the window and then got up and walked over to Arthur. He looked around, and then walked over to the old man with the oil lamp.
He looked at the man for a while, then as quick as he could, pulled the revolver from his holster, slammed the table with his fist and shouted, "Where the hell are we, what the hell are we doing, and why the hell am I not dead?!"
"we are currently in a pub, we are hiding, planning and having a drink if you want, as for why your not dead son...i honestly have no clue what you are talking about, you look alive as me or that bloke with the shotgun" Jonathan laid his rifle on the table. "we will try and figure everything out but im going to have to ask you stop waving that pistol around....you hurting my calm"

"Bloke with a shotgun eh? As much as I like the name, I think it's time we shared our real ones." Hunter sat down with a bottle of beer in hand. "The name's Hunter. I'm a mercinary of sorts. The old coot hired me to meet him here for reasons he didn't explain. Now I can see why..."
"i have already given you my name, i used to be a history professor but now im just the bouncer for the bar you sit in" he walks to the bar and grabs a beer from the cooler,"after what happened last time they covered it all up and ruined anyone who spoke out, i spoke out" so i lost my job and had to work here instead. look i realize you are against destroying the book but i promise that is where all the evil is coming from. think of it as ground zero for a plague, only instead of sickness its creating madness and monsters."
