For me it would have to be The JB?s ?Grunt? from San Andreas. I love listening to that sax squeal, especially when it?s in time with the screams of the goomba tied to the hood of my car.

I also really dig ?Aint No Rest For the Wicked? from Borderlands. It sets a good mood for the game.

That chase music after you've done an assassination in Assassin's Creed 1.
You can look it up, I'm too lazy.

thank you for reminding me.
also the ending from this game was the only thing that ever moved me in a game.
along with this song.
first and last time I cried(man tears, mind you) for a videogame.

Magical Girl from Jet Grind Radio [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h9f939bW3c]. Never fails to bring me right back to the first time I played, meeting Gum and skating like mad. Always puts me in a great mood.

The song "Fatidic" from Bomberman Hero. This song had such a good beat and it was played at the perfect part of the game.

Both Still Alives were very well-suited to their respective games.
And I'll put in another vote for Far Away in Red Dead Redemption. Rode my horse extra-slow into town so I could hear the whole thing.

Let's see... what other games have great iconic songs...

I love the intro music to Deus Ex, especially when it goes into the funky breakdown section with the techno-ish sounds... you know what I'm talking about :)

Call of Duty 4, the opening credits sequence where you're riding in the back of the car on the way to an execution. I absolutely love the background music for there. Best part is when you're driving through an alley and the music hits another peak as you emerge by the coast and you can see the jets flying by and helicopters landing.

When I first played Half Life 2 this song really blew me away

Starcraft Terran soundtracks are awesome

and

Back in my RTS days Hell March was just a beast of a song

The original Command & Conquer had some awesome songs also

and

Mass Effect

Sorry if thats too much, but those really did have a massive effect on me :)

The music from the 'What the Heck?' level from Earthworm Jim.

I'd post a video, but they're all from the 1994 version, and the remastered soundtrack for the recently released Earthworm Jim HD sounds much better.

These games aren't most praised on their music but,

HL2's music fits perfectly whenever it plays. The fast beat tracks are great to run and gun to

Also Praetorians changes to action music whenever you enter a fight. I think that the story mode used quite a few Rob Dougan songs which have the same songs in the Matrix films which make great action scenes, so it works well here too.

Any song from Ocarina of Time. They were all so magical and pleasing. Also worth noting from Nintendo was the main theme from Isle Delfino and Super Mario World's entire soundtrack.

Brutal Legend became a masterpiece for me twice:
1. The opening with "Children of the Grave" by Black Sabbath
2. The ending (SPOILER) with "Superbeast" and "Painkiller" by Rob Zombie and Judas Priest respectively.
Those songs make those moments stand out much more vividly in my mind and made Brutal Legend legendary for me. Pun not intended

Mass Effect 2 - The End Run. Perfect piece for a brilliant game. Jack Wall ^_^
Also the menu theme from Legacy of Kain: Defiance. I had no doubts that game was gonna be awesome, but when i heard how the opening theme was better than any other game in the series' (against all my expectations too), i was even more impressed.
I've finally been quoted for another reason than to be yelled at. YAY. Eyegasm. This makes me happy. Thank you.

Also I liked the music from Canis Canem Edit (Bully), not that it moved me or anything, I just really love this track.

To Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X.

Hopefully I got in before Marter this time.
Yes, yes, so much yes, such a beautiful song

Other than that, I'd probably say the main menu theme to Napoleon Total War
