He didn't say it... in that video.
He said this the day after

I hope Noah goes into Miles' room, unlocks the gun, puts the barrel in his mouth, pulls the trigger and blows his brains across the fucking wall and the next day the local paper reads "Failed actor kills himself"

I didn't even know about what Miles had to do. Yeesh. I've always been a big fan of Spoony's, even though he can be awfully abrasive sometimes. Still, he's got good wit and great timing, as many of the previous posters have said. I never really got involved with his forums or anything, and never followed his twitter feed, so I can't speak on those matters; however, I did check the forums today when I saw the news on TGWTG and they're all down, while they're being moved to other servers. I don't know if someone else already posted that or not. I just hope this doesn't screw things up with some of the guys on CA...from the commentaries and things I've heard in the past, he and some of the other big name CA guys get along quite well (Brad, Doug, Bennet, Linkara, to name a few). I'd love to see more crossovers with them in the future and I hope that whatever actually happened here doesn't screw up those friendships.
Still, maybe it's for the best. I just hope that Noah gets some help with the stuff he's going through.

Oh guys, thank you. I was reading up some other forums because I wanted to find out about the drama, and it was so depressing how hateful people were. Especially with Spoony there were a lot of people saying 'yeah he's probably unwell and dealing with depression but...' followed by bile.

So it was nice to see people being empathetic and fairly fair to everyone. Okay people have still taken sides but no-ones been an asshat about it really and kept it at a more 'i disagree with what they've done' level

Thanks again

well.... this has turned into a great pile of trash fast.

You don't rage quit your job on a public forum. That's highly unprofessional. Im not even going to bother looking into any more of those tweets, this is something that should have been dealt with behind closed doors.

... You see all this drama, it could have been avoided.

I keep hearing all kinds of stories, but suffice it to say everyone on CA and even Spoony himself is handling this rather poorly. It's a shame too cause Spoony was one of my favorite producers on the site. At this point I hope he takes the time to just collect himself, especially considering his battles with depression. I feel that trying to crunch out videos, manage his site, and tweet all at once while this is going on is probably too much for him to handle at the moment and he'll go through another mental breakdown.

You know after the whole spoony vs the Internet thing about mass effect 3, I did get the impression that he had issues.

What is your source for this assertion? Where are you getting your information from?

Lupa has now lost my sympathy for her point of view. Defending a friend is all well and good, but basically acting like Spoony just needs to grow up while acting like he's just blowing up the crap in his life out of proportion is showing a serious lack of empathy.
I am the first to defend people with mental problems; I've been there, so I can't help empathizing with people whose brains don't work properly...but that said, mental illness is not a free pass. Mr. Antwiler was informed of how his actions were adversely affecting others, and he was either unwilling to or incapable of changing his behavior. Ms. Pregler is not wrong to find that her limits for him have been strained beyond the breaking point, any more than you are wrong to find that your limits for him have not been transgressed against.

As far as I've seen or heard, Lordkat never told Spoony to kill himself.

His twitter feed was... vitriolic toward the guy. For that matter, so was every single second of that rant on his Stream. (http://www.twitch.tv/lordkat/b/322255491) The guy clearly has issues with Spoony. And for what it's worth, I actually get that. From the sounds of it, Spoony's behavior had apparently caused the guy a lot of grief. And whether he's being hyperbolic or not, he at least cited a lot of extremely specific stuff.

Anyway, he actively stated that he didn't hope Spoony would hurt himself or anything. The closest he ever came was saying that if he were a fan that was treated as badly as some of Spoony's fans, he would've probably responded with a sentiment along the lines of "kill yourself." For the most part, true or not, his rant seemed more specifically focused on calling Spoony a hypocrite, a phony, and a "pussy." Which, agree or not, he did have some points to be made. In a rambling, bile-filled way. This probably cost LordKat his relationship with CA anyway, since he just loudly declared why he left.

I personally liked Spoony's stuff. Dude had good comic timing and while his acting was certainly a bit "public access" level, it was appropriate for what he was doing. I honestly never followed him much on twitter, so I was completely unaware of any of the things happening here. His videos seemed a bit, well, furious at times, but the guy always seemed to be playing a persona. I guess one never really knows.

For what it's worth, I hope the guy gets his act together. But I think he's on a downward spiral, and he may really have to hit rock bottom before he can start to pick up the pieces. Wow, that was like three idioms in one sentence.
He had two videos form his live stream, where he first said it, and then came back a few hours later saying that he stood by what he said and gave out and ultimatum to his community.
It looks like he purged the videos, probably because it's pretty damning against him no matter how he spins it.
Plenty of people have seen it, and corroborate that he said it, the problem now is hoping that someone actually recorded it.

This is the first thread on the Escapist I've ever read in its full entirety. ... I slightly regret doing that now, given what I've just learned.

While I've been following TGWTG since around 2009ish, I've only really followed Doug until around 2010 when I drifted into Linkara (and subsequently the other reviewers), and, with the exception of Diamanda Hagan (whose videos I just really can't get into) and the GameHeroes guys (who, I admit, I haven't watched due to laziness on my part), I've seen just about something from everybody, as well as most of the crossovers. They all seemed like a really great bunch, and the crossovers were some of the funniest things I've ever seen, so this is just a bit heartrending to me.

Especially given how TGWTG was one of the things I usually watched regularly. I hope this doesn't cause other reviewers to drop out. I may not agree with the motivations that Lupa and Phelous had in this, but I love their videos. I'm also a bit confused as to why they removed Spoony's videos entirely, since they didn't do the same with LordKaT after he was removed. btw, after what I've read, along with what I know about the guy, I agree he's a bit of an asshole and arrogant prick and he probably deserves a punch to the face, but his Until We Win series was fairly entertaining.

Where was I going again? Oh, right.

Anyway, the whole thing with Scarlett (which, if I'm understanding that issue right, is a bad move on Spoony regarding his follow up - I understand she may have meant a lot, but you should learn to let some things go) and Miles (the whole 'shooting and killing someone' issue is a lot more understandable and would understandably shake the two of them up), altogether, proves that Noah's been under a lot of duress and has been affecting his work. I've seen Ultima IX and Breaking Dawn Part 1 compared to New Moon, and while I think all three were pretty funny and worth watching, I do agree that, compared to New Moon, Noah's been... more downtrodden. He's not exactly 'fun,' anymore, like early NC and early Spoony, or AngryJoe, Nash, and Linkara. Personally speaking, I wouldn't mind him delaying his reviews and... just relaxing a bit. He sounds like he needs to get away from the edrama, emphasis on the needs.

It's a shame he's leaving, though. His anime reviews with Bennett the Sage, Warrior reviews with Linkara, and overall crossovers were some of the best things. His character in general is a really fun person to bounce jokes and criticism off of. It's a shame to let that go.

But...

Hi everyone. I'm a pretty big part of TGWTG community, and I will try to make some things more clear, as there seems to be some confusion.

Any questions?
Yes. Two.

1) What are AngryJoe, Kaylyn (MarzGurl), Lindsay (N Chick), CR, and Paw saying about this? I haven't heard their opinions yet, and the latter four seem like good voices of reason, while Joe seems to be on fairly good terms with Noah.

2) I wanted to ask this civilly, but I must ask... and I kinda apologize for the language, but WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED AT E3?! I didn't follow... honestly, any coverage on E3 (because I predicted that it was probably going to suck, and lo and behold, aside from The Last of Us, it kinda did, though I'm kinda going back on some AngryJoe footage since he got some interesting stuff), and apparently all of this started over something that happened at E3. Lupa and Phelous don't seem like the types to suddenly lash out over something unless it was really big, so... what happened?

Seriously? What the fuck happened?

Well it was more of a stream where his fans sent him messages and he replied, but I there's a recording of it. Just google Spoony vs the internet 3, it'll be right at the top. Be warned though, he is a serious asshole in it, and he's not in character.

Also, I have a question... Why don't Noah and Allison just sit down and have an adult conversation about this issue rather than siccing their respective fanbases at each other like petulant children?

Spoony has admitted feeling depressed. Internet videos are not the be all and end all of life. People who consider him a friend should support him and people that don't, just leave him be. Let him sort his bits out and then he'll carry on from there. He's only human people--- give him a break, regardless of any "crimes" he may have committed via verbal indecency (p.s. I don't get offended by much at all so inappropriate jokes don't bother me).

As for whose fault it is, why does it matter? Are we going on a witchhunt? Let's say for example, Lupa DID this to cause issues--- yeah it might suck, but her videos will still be funny. You don't HAVE to like someone to appreciate their works...

Michael...

That is all.

Except a lot of people don't appreciate neither his works nor him so that's not a very good example.

A better example for your point would be the guy that made Fezz, the game's amazing but the guy who made it is a horrible racist.

Don't really know what you're talking about...the only thing TGWTG censors in its videos is nudity. Most everything else is fair game. :/
False. The Amazing Atheist was booted off the site for posting inappropriate content and it had nothing to do with nudity.
I thought the Amazing Atheist was booted off the site for being, you know, the Amazing Atheist.
I thought The Amazing Atheist was booted off the site for sodomizing himself with a banana on camera.

Anyway this whole Spoony thing sucks, but its not the end of the world. I've always watched his stuff off of his personal (same with Brad Jones's stuff) and I'll continue to do so.
The thing I'm most bummed out about is that there are probably not going to be any crossover with Spoony. Granted crossovers with non TGWTG Member have happened before (NChicks review of Fresh Prince had one) But with the highly acidic way Spoony is reacting to this I would seriously doubt anyone (with the possibly exception of Linkara and Brad) would want to work with him ever again. I also find myself wondering if he'll be edited out of the 4th anniversary movie.
A vid of TJ saying why he left:
Wow... they're really trying to go all mainstream and shit? That totally destroys a lot of shit I use to like about the site.

Also props for Linkara being a by-the-books hardass. Seems like he's like that Protagonist in LA Noir.

Can I just say, watching middle class white suburbanites tear each other new assholes like a bunch of feuding highland tribes is absolutely the funnest ever thing ever.

Their twitters are all calm and shit on the surface but if you parse through the newspeak it's like the Hatfields and the McCoys over there. I get the impression some of them are one Antwater's side and others have sided with Preggers (or however the hell you spell it).

You can't see but I'm giddy with excitement for gossip and drama right now.
I don't see why anyone likes them. Everything I've seen has always been passive-aggressive nerdiness of the very worst and most uncomfortable kind.
