If you want to make the forum better, start by not posting a shitty and insultingly arrogant rant.

BTW, putting "sincerely" after basically taking a dump in the "make new thread" box does not make you classy, it just makes you seem like MORE of an elitist asshole

I've got a few quick points.
-what often happens when two posters start "conversing" in a thread is that they derail the whole thing.
I know I've been guilty of that in the past.
-Most people come here to be entertained by the words on the screen in front of them. Serious discussions are not always on the list of "stuff ____ wants to do."
So they just come on and try to say something original while still sticking to the topic.
I don't like to say bad things about this place because, quite frankly, I'm enjoying this place and how it's being moderated as of late. I will say the thing that's the problem is people seem to have mistaken this forum for Twitter. If people derailed a thread into Interesting Junction, I would have no problem--that would be kinda cool. It's that it often derails off into I Just Made a Sandwich Depot.
It hurts the hell out of me to say anything negative as well, so I hope it didn't sound like I was bashing the site. It is something of a loved addiction at this point for me.

Anyway!
As far as fun derailments go, I had to reign my impulses to drive a thread in a new, possibly fun direction(for me and the other person/people talking in it) after I realized that I was keeping some truly useless threads alive, while other, more original ones were being ignored.
At some point, it really should be taken to PMs.
[sup]unless the OP is in on it. That is really fun.[/sup]

No no! Not at all--I just make sure to give praise, because I've given a lot of criticism of this site in the past when I wasn't so keen on how it was being moderated. Want to let the powers that be know that the change in style has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated by me.
Oh phew.
*cuddles up to imaginary REAL manifestation of the Escapist*
You know I'd never say anything bad about you, baby.

...I do not need help!

heh--yeah, when an OP derails their own thread is always a good time.
Isn't it just like Christmas with a bit of your birthday thrown in?
A bit of magic gets thrown in the air, and the keyboard almost seems to make music while you type!
I think my favorite derail moment was in the last big one I did...
Someone threw a temper tantrum in the user reviews, wound up derailing their topic a bit, and I somehow derailed his derailment.
It was glorious.

No offence intended, but 130 isn't high at all...
None taken, I didnt say it was high. I said it was higher than average.

I chose to paraphrase one line from a post as in my opinion the rest of that post was uninteresting. I wanted to make a point and quoting you allowed me to more accurately convey my point.
Glad to have been of service. ;)

And you talk of mindless tripe as if it were a bad thing - do we not need it to truly realise what are valuable contributions to the Escapist?
I don't feel like I need to read pulp fiction to appreciate the classics. So it is for forum posts.

I'd like to say I read all five pages, but after reading the first, I realise I don't have the key item "Community Knowledge +20 conversation" in my inventory to provide the necessary stats. Who's maxthereaper? Its usually more lively? Elitism, in my Escapist?

Well, I came here expected a forum with a bias towards games mainly populated by people above the age of 12. And that seems to be what I've got. Forums swing back and forth between activity and that's just how it is. Good communities always come back. Then again, this post is probably missing the point, so I'll shuffle along and let the regulars with a decent attention span handle it.

Dear God if stagnating then why don't YOU start some interesting threads rather than complaining about, Whiners!

Incredibly good post - I'm sure I'd just be repeating what someone else has said; If I added anything else.

But the rule is - the more popular something is on the internet; the shitter it is, for example youtube what first a pretty cool place for vloggers - then it got some media attention and now it is all 17 year old girls 'OMG SHANE DAWSON IS SOOO CUTE xxx'

You get the idea; the more people on the Escapist; the worse it will be.

I think you are over romanticizing the past of this website. People who don't care about the other board members have always been on this site, its just that as the overall board population grows, so does that subset of people. I usually only reply to the OP, unless someone says something I think is really stupid, or quotes me. I probably try to be witty more than I should, but I genuinely enjoy doing so even when it doesn't come out right, and it doesn't hurt anyone. It probably would be a better website if everyone took the time to read every post, or just the last page, before commenting, but most people either don't have the time, or don't have the attention span. Most of your post was articulate, but at the end you kind of talked down to the rest of the board and just told us to improve, that never starts a conversation worth having.
