The Star Wars Prequels suck. It's been over a decade. Get over it.

*reads OP's post*

Fuck i don't have enough bread crumbs to get home.

personally, i like the prequels, for some neat visuals, expanding the universe, being creative, and giving the franchise a shot. Yeah the story has problems, but it never got completely offensive bad. and they got better with each one.

I was over it, and then the 3D re-releases was announced and a whole slew of new awful additions to the classic trilogy brought all the hate back to the surface. So no, I won't stop bashing the worst movie trilogy ever made, not when it's atrocities are so fresh in my mind. Maybe after all the 3D versions have had their theatrical releases and we've put some distance between anything new from the star wars universe, I'll settle down. For now: the prequels suck. What is wrong with your faaaa

I'm just going to be short on this one.

Phantom Menace: Reasonably good ( except for the podracing and that MOTHERF#%king annoying Jar-Jar Binks.)
Clone Wars: Dear god it was bad...had some nice effects though.
Revenge of the Sith: Pretty awesome, just as good as the original trilogy. Only problem is that the whole movie build up to an utterly disappointing pay-off.

So you decided to make a thread about how you think people should stop making threads about this?

I personally don't care much about Star Wars, but can't say I've been hugely annoyed by people complaining about it either. They don't tend to drag it into other discussions, which is what happens with something like Bieber-hate, where I couldn't at some point say anything about music online without some people making comments about how Bieber sucks, even if he had nothing to do with the type of music I was talking about.

Also the prequel-hate rises from the love people feel towards the movies, which makes it different, I guess. And a part of me enjoys seeing (other)people's childhood memories being trampled on.

And yeah, people would eventually forget about those movies, but since there's news about Lucas messing with the movies all the time and re-releasing them and whatnot, we are constantly reminded of it.

Not to mention all the games and tv-series and other Star Wars stuff.

My personal opinion on the prequels:
The first one was dull, the second confusing, and the third hilarious.

GASP! Someone likes what I hate! How DARE they! They should just accept that whatever they like sucks and deal with it instead of living in denial!

No one is constantly bitching about it. They merely acknowledge that they are awful when they are brought into discussion.

Kind of like how you have brought them into discussion right now.

No, don't give me any lectures and shit.
On a positive note, it's now more than a decade since The Lord of The Rings first hit cinemas... and they're still awesome!

Under normal circumstances, yes it would be pointless to ***** about a film series that ended around 7 years ago. However you're forgetting that Star Wars video games and other EU material is still produced to this day, like it or not Star Wars is a massive money-making franchise which won't go away any time soon.

As an aside, putting your opinion on the prequels in the OP wasn't a good idea and contradicts the whole point of the thread. With that included, whether you intend it or not it looks like you are trying to shut down discussion because you think your opinion is the right one.
Yeah, I agree. You can't exactly tell people to stop expressing their opinions about the films, and then go and do just that.

Besides, cash cow or not, I think there have definitely been some recent worthy additions. Star Wars Force Unleashed one was the perfect bridge of the two trilogies, and personally I think the new cartoons absolutely rule.

Jesus H christ calm the Hell down. I've never seen anyone get so worked up over someone else's opinion.

It all comes down to perspectives and opinions (as in everyone is entitled to their own. If you don't like it, go jump off a bridge.)

In the end it largely comes down to which order you watched them in. If you are from an older generation that watched them 4/5/6/1/2/3 then I can understand you may be disappointed/underwhelmed. I know younger people though that have watched them 1/2/3/4/5/6 (and not been subjected to a lot of the bile flung around the internet) and you know what? They actually found it enjoyable.

In my PERSONAL opinion (You don't have to like it, but if you think you can insult it, you can frankly go die in a fire)
Episode 1: Largely eye-candy. Jar Jar was irritating, yes but it was a decent movie nonetheless.
Episode 2: Definitely meh. Enjoyed the lightsabre fight between Yoda and Dooku
Episode 3: Pretty darn good. Enjoyed the face-off between Yoda and Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
Episode 4: Probably my favorite in the series.
Episode 5: Pacing was a little slow in my opinion in some areas, but still a good movie
Episode 6: Tied up some of the loose ends fairly nicely. *insert obligatory IT'S A TRAP! comment here*
