You should come back and check it out, I think that season 5 has been the best season yet so far.

The fandom for it is still as big as ever, but the show itself no longer feels like this special thing that you are just absolutely hungry for more of. Its still really good, but it feels like we are getting as much as we need. I've heard rumors that season 6 will be the last season of this incarnation, I mean Twilight and her friends. We might be getting a new group of ponies in the same universe that we will follow and I think this would be ok. While more ponies would be good, I think ending at season 6 would be ok and make sure the show didn't overstay its welcome like so many other series.

The "shock" from the fandom has run its course. There's little they can do now that folk won't say "Just Bronies being Bronies".

We've already had people "marrying" Twilight Sparkle, the purchase of pony plushy fleshlights and exposure to several other deviant things associated with the dark side of Brony culture.

The Brony boards now keep to themselves and folk generally stay away since they've seen all they could possibly need/want to see.

I'm glad the show is still running and those who find pleasure in the show get to enjoy it. I'm also glad there's less spillover from the fandom into mass culture and the other way around as well. Let fans be fans in their fanzone with other fans.

Folk can appreciate ponies as much as they like provided they appreciate that nobody else is obligated to feel the same as they do about their chosen fandom.

Ugh, they're going to end the series without making rainbow dash a wonderbolt or giving the cmc their marks, i just know it.
I'm ok with Dash not going full wonderbolt but it is annoying how the cmc still aren't rocking cutie marks.

1. I [apparently] live in the US... and as of September 8 2015, we had a DVD-only release of Over the Garden Wall...

2. As far as we know, either one of use could be more right... It's basically Adventure Time all over again... :p Now, as far as Lars "apologizing" in "Island Adventure", he kinda didn't? In fact, no one did in that particular scene, if we're both thinking of the same scene in question... I mean, Sadie didn't apologize for what she did, Lars didn't apologize for not trying to make the best of a bad situation, at least, and Steven didn't apologize for accidentally getting both Sadie and Lars involved with the "illusive gem hunt" on the island itself... Then again, now that I think about it, this was another one of those episodes that just ends in a "Well, that all just happened..." kind of way before the credits start rolling and the viewers are left saying "So, now what?" once again, but not in an "optimistic" kind of way given the tone of how the episode ended in question... (Again, it's like Adventure Time all over again... :p)

Is that show still around? I thought they cancelled it or something
That's Dan Vs., unfortunately... Unless you're referring to either Strawberry Shortcake and/or Care Bears, then the formal's still going and the latter got moved to Netflix... :p

Go ahead and check this episode out. It's a Luna episode and it does something that I don't think I've seen handled this well in any other show.

The fandom has died down. They keep to their websites and the wave of users changing their avatars has ended. To the average net citizen it has become "oh look, a pony avatar" rather than "holy shit why are there pony pics everywhere?"

Plus I think there was a quality drop once Twilight became a demigod. That's the point where it became about selling toys rather than the show. Those that felt insulted moved to Adventure Time and Steven Universe (my favorite).

I have a personal pet theory that interest in My Little Pony dropped considerably once shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones became massively popular. Bronies are 18-20something year old men and the non-involved fans latched onto shows that are both more investing and age/gender appropriate, but this isn't a concrete theory.

I'm gonna pop a link to the MLP usergroup here on the Escapist for those if you who still watches the show, or used to. We're still active!

There's nothing to add to this thread than what has already been said. The fandom lives on, but not in the extreme sense as a few years ago.

I don't think it's lost its appeal, so far season 5 has been a lot better than season 4.

Everyone in the Brony fandom who I follow has either moved on to better things or their videos have gone to shit and I've stopped following them so the portion of the fandom I care about has died... if that matters

The porn is still going strong and yet the universe still remains.

I'm hopeful for the future, season 5 has been awesome. I thought season 4 killed it but it bounced back

I just re-watched the ending again and your right, he doesn't apologize. I still have some issues with how the ep frames the issue but ~hands up~ my bad. I can't think what it was I was so annoyed about then, I watch a lot of cartoons but I can't think what it could have been.

But yeah, sorry about that.

That's quite all right, dude... I mean, I kinda don't like how no one apologies, let alone where it "fades to black", but I digress... :p

we're still around. i guess the ones who felt the need to make a load of noise about it have got bored.
And thank god.

No offense to the loud ones. But at least it's just another fandom now. It was hard to avoid before.
There's nothing more obnoxious than someone who gets in your face and insists that you love what they love, because it "changed them". All of the grotesque pageantry of religion with the strange shallowness of Hasbro.
This show turned seemingly ordinary people into evangelists like nothing I've ever seen before.
I just could not agree with you more, it was spooky.
There was this one kid in my class who I kid you not, had a pony themed bag, pony pins on his hat and all. And he once told me the show changed his life, and asked if I had watched it with the same passion someone preaching the gospel would.

I still hang out in pretty nerdy circles, but I haven't bumped into someone like that in a long while.
Yes! I met a guy who would not stop telling me that "MLP:FIM" and I'm quoting verbatim here, "Taught me how to love."

What the actual fuck man?!
*shudders*

Ugh, never heard that one. I guess some people just kinda live an isolated life like that. Whatever floats their boat I suppose.

Look at it this way - MLP:FIM is still one of the most entertaining cartoons I've come across, it melted my heart and made me feel things no other piece of animation really made me feel before.

Nuclear levels of cuteness combined with colorful characters and light-hearted humor was a thing to behold for at least the first 2 seasons. Really, can anyone else name another cartoon like it?

After that it was unavoidable for people to eventually get "used" to all that, of course people's general excitement and noise started wearing off.

I think most of them moved off to the Steven Universe Fandom I mean that's what people are generally being loud about these days.
Also I think they've been less in your face because there are only so many times you can yell at somebody "WATCH THIS SHOW" before you either run out of breath or start becoming self aware about how obnoxious you sound(Steven Universe, Jojo etc. fans I'm lookin at you). Granted I'm one to talk about that because I've actually written fanfiction for MLP.

Pretty sure it's still popular as all hell, just the rabid amount of screaming for/against it has died down considerably. It went from "THE FUCKING PONIES" to "oh those fucking ponies". They have since, what looks to be, moved on to Steven Universe, as many people are pointing out. It feels good to be hated.
