I read just as much as I game, if not more so. The main thing I do is read. Apparently (not idea how accurate this is) I had the reading age of an 18 year old when I was 12. I practically inhale books.

Many words were here.

You know, that was a long read of something that essentially describes my own life. I dropped out of college, worked a crappy job for three years and loved it, and then got myself out of the rut by getting a career and going back to college.

I hope you decide to go back to college. I've never been academic, I always just coasted along like you did, but going back to school and getting myself qualified is the best thing I ever did. You've just got to pick something that can help you move up in the world and that you're interested in.

There are many great passions in my life and reading is one of them. Right now I'm making my way through Sharpe's Triumph, Neverwhere and all the Sherlock Holmes stories. It makes me smile when someone else talks about loving reading. It's a beautiful thing.

good luck my fellow historian. As a fellow history student the only thing I might warn you about is that you might/will sometimes be asked what exactly your going to do with a background in history. You will be told that you can only teach and that is it. Don't believe them as someone who is just about to finish their undergrad in history I can tell you there a lots of jobs. However, don't take history for the job it will bring, study it for the love of it. Good luck.

Here are some books you might like:

Red Inferno or 1945 by Robert Conroy. These are light reads but they are alternate history novels set during world war II. I am a big fan of this author.

Dune by Frank Herbert

Brave New World by Huxley

1984 by George Orwell

Hope that helps.
Don't forget Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. (Or, if you're into comedy, The Official Zombie Survival Guide or World War Z. All hilarious reads.)
Yeah I completely forgot about Fahrenheit 451. That is also a good book.
