Actually there are rather a lot of Mayans still alive. Its only the Aztecs that were completely wiped out in terms of South American civilizations.

I don't know, it is a rather fascinating phenomenon all in of itself, a giant storm of Fission-Fusion which lasts millions of years without being diminished by exterior interruptions; one could argue it is a device very close in resemblance to Perpetual Energy. A miracle, which I celebrate as another symbol of the Lord's Dominion.
