I think the S in Sun should be capitalized (normally it is not but I capitalizing it in this forum because i think it should be) because it is the name of our solar system's star the Sun. Also it irritates me when the Sun's name is used to describe a star that is not the Sun for example in Star Wars Force Unleashed when a space station is set to crash into a system's star PROXY says the station is quickly heading for the sun. This all may sound silly but I want to see what other people think about the subject.

Well thanks. I'm never going to be able to enjoy a sci-fi that says 'sun' without refering to Sol ever again. Bastard.

Oh, and I totally agree with you.

Well, I agree with that it should be capitalized but in that game it was taking place in another solar system, so the star in that area would be known as "the Sun" just like how we call our star the Sun and not Exvitus 2011 or something.

Screw all of that, lets just go back and start calling the Sun 'Helios.' I think that sounds much better.

Actually the proper name of our sun is Sol. As in solar energy. Also, our moon is Luna and our planet is Terra.

Sun= our name for our sun.

Moon= our name for our moon.

We've taken our names for specific objects and then applied them to all the others- it's not that complicated. We have several hundred moons, for example, but only one 'Moon'. We have several billion suns, but only one 'Sun'.

The Sun is a sun. The Moon is a moon. Deal with it.

Which, in my humble opinion, are kick ass names.

How would you want to be known, as a Terran or as an Earthling? Yeah I know which one I pick.

'Holy Terra' if you want to be especially technical.

To keep it space themed.

Who the hell doesn't capitalize "Sun?"

Oh and it's Sol, by the way. I like to refer to it as that.

Along with our moon known as Luna and our planet really being called Terra, though for some reason, I like to say Terria.

But our sun's name is Sol, not sun. Sun is the basic name for all large stars that form a galaxy. Canes Maximus is a sun. All those stars you see in the sky, are suns or most likely were suns (As a large number of those stars exploded, but because they were so far away, we haven't quite got the message yet.) Sun is the general term. We have scientific names for most of the stars that we see today. Even our own.

The Sun is a star, the name of the star of our solar system is Sun, the stars of other solar systems have other names, they are not called Sun. They are STARS, they should be called stars, or their proper name that cant be Sun.

By the theory of calling Sun to the star of the current solar system then you should call Earth to the planet that has life of the current solar system.

Also, I dont know if the name of Sun is right or wrong but in latin is Sol, and in american is Sun, I believe that both are right. My name from where I come from is Paulo, in american its Paul, both are also right

True, but we don't need to officially rename it until we meet other intelligent life, that way we'll be seen as original...
