Here is a question that I have been asking all my friends and it has come up with some reasonably interesting results. It is esentialy in the same vein as all that"What super powers would you like" malarky, but with a twist. My Question is This:

What Super Power would you choose to live with forever, with the knowlege that by choosing it, an action exactly opposite to it could never be performed again, and if it was, you would die. For example, the ability to conqour fire means that you may never have water on your skin again. The ability to fly means that you could never EVER touch the ground again. Telekinesis means you could never physicaly perform any action again.

From this point onwards I hope that you have got the idea, so reply with the Super Power you have chosen, What its Curse would be, and why you chose it.

I think I found a loophole. What if I chose to have every power there is? Or what if I was undead? what would the curse be then? I'm not trying to be a dick I'm just slightly confused.

What would be the counter to laser vision? Not being allowed to use matches? I'd take that.

Or super strength? Super speed? Enhanced intelligence. This only works on powers that replace stuff, or have elemental opposites. Not enhancements or abilities without analogs.

So if you choose an abnormal power like flying does that mean you can never be normal again? How about if you choose to move the ground, does that means you can never breathe air again? Cause that's kind of a no-win scenario there.

Personally, controlling the air would be cool and all you would have to do to counteract the resulting you-cannot-touch-the-ground problem is establish a 2cm barrier of air around you. Easy.

I'd choose the ability to erase stupidity from the internet whenever I see it.

The curse I'd have to live with would be a blank, empty internet. Well, except for porn.

No, you wouldn't have porn either. In the universe of porn, the answer to every problem is "let's have sex." Good job breaking it, hero.

What's the curse of the coolest superpower ever, the power to control gravity?

I think by these rules it'd probably be that you lose the ability to see.

For the lazer vision thing see cyclops from x-men, for super speed see the movie Speed. You get the idea.

Edit: errr... If i took the batman super power of being super rich, would i die when i was no longer rich or would money be constantly spewing out my ass? If its the latter ill take that, i'd give that stuff away like free candy... and then ruin the econemy... hmmm i see a re-think coming along

I dunno: The atoms inside you implode. You later reform and turn blue for some reason.

Why? I didn't gain x-ray, phantom vision or bat-sonar. I just happen to be able to shoot laser beams from my eyes at will. It has nothing to do with vision. Unless I'm missing the point and this is some kind of Twilight Zone monkey's paw super power.

Cyclops lack of control is because of brain damage. He doesn't count.

If I shoot lasers from my elbows, does it make it better?

Out of your examples i'd go with the telekinesis because you could like "pretend" you were lifting things
Actually no
You couldn't have sex or hug someone
Fuck that

Hmmmm if were to control/create and manipulate water would i never be able to get burned again?

The Midas touch.

Edit: I guess if you had super speed you couldn't walk slowly. Super strength, never be gentle. Superman and Lois Lane: Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex. That kinda makes sense.

I'd do telepathy and then have my vocal chords removed. What about Immortality? If I chose to be immortal, the opposite would be to die. If I could die it would kill me per these rules, but since that can't happen (because I'm immortal) I'd have no weakness.

EDIT: Take that!

I would go with, the ability to travel to different universes that only exist in movies, games, ect.

The disatvantage would be that, I could never go back to this universe. And to that I say, "Fuck. This. Universe."
