Beware Xenoblade X heavily uses the second screen, there is a system to plant different probes to get benefits plus fast travel and of course robust area map. And playing on 1 screen is bit awkward. With pro controller i have to leave my WiiU controller nearby to get that info and functionality. So it will take some modification from developer to cram is all into a one screen experience, this means possibly a long wait time for a port. Well, if Switch doesn't have a dual screen mode, that is.
Cool! Oh and beware if you want to alleviate some loading time problems (disc version only) make sure to download optional free DLC for this game. You might want to start before you get the game.
Here some official info about that http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/15487/~/high-speed-data-loading-packs-for-xenoblade-chronicles-x
Xenoblade is the best Use of the Wii U's game tablet for resource management and traveling its gigantic world. It is a slow grind though, it takes 20 hours to get use to the game and I think it takes you 20 hours to get your mech.
I bought my Wii U on day one and I absolutely don't regret it. I still have fun with my Wii U and thanks to it I was able to catch up on some original Wii games that I'd previously missed out on. I love how, for the most part, I could just put a disc into the console and play the game which isn't something the PS3 seemed capable of (stupid mandatory installations). There were a couple of games that I would have wanted to play but thanks to limited HDD space and my unwillingness to shell out for full digital games I never had the chance to play Fatal Frame or Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 (I hear one of those is a bullet to be dodged). My current collection looks like this...

I still plan on getting a few games actually...unless its announced for the Switch I'd like to get the two Darksiders titles (I assume the third has a good chance of making it onto the Switch). There's also smaller games that I'll likely have to get from Amazon like the Steamworld bundle and Shantae; games which were digitally released but which were quite recently pressed to disc. I'm incredibly torn when it comes to Paper Mario Color Splash since I hated Sticker Star but it sounds like Color Splash is legitimately good.
When it comes to the games that I do own though, I don't think I've put enough time in Bayonetta 2, New Super Luigi U, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze or, Yoshi's Woolly World. Actually I haven't even beaten Bayonetta 1 yet which is why I haven't tried Bayo 2 yet. I liked ME3 on the Wii U and I really liked Arkham City on the Wii U too though I wish I could have just played it with the Pro Controller. Little Inferno was the digital game I spent the most time on BY FAR. My biggest disappointment on the console was Wii Sports Club which is the ONLY game on the system I traded in (in fact it was the first game trade-in I've done that wasn't a double this decade). I didn't like Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X got really bad the closer I got to the ending and, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Party was somehow worse than Mario Party 10.
On the flipside, Tokyo Mirage Sessions is my favorite console JRPG this generation. It's the only one I've played that doesn't try to play like an MMO (something that always irked me about Xenoblade and Xenoblade X). I like the characters, I love the combat system and, I love the overall aesthetic.
As floored as I was by the visual presentation of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World and, Paper Mario Color Splash, I think Pikmin 3 is by far the best looking game on the Wii U. It was an early game but it hits a level of realism that I just didn't see in the other games.
When it comes to remakes and remasters, I like the changes made in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I like how Arkham City: Armored Edition is complete. I absolutely love the two Zelda remasters though. I don't think the Wind Waker remaster was necessary but both that and Twilight Princess are absolutely the best versions of those games around. I like the integrated map on the gamepad, I like the visual bumps too but what's more, I like how nothing major was changed. The Majora's Mask remake on the 3DS was fine at a glance but when you look at the changes made to boss fights and certain mechanics (ie: ice arrows) it turned a frustrating game into a somewhat more finicky game that I liked less. Not the case with the Wii U remasters!
I don't see myself unplugging my Wii U once I get the Switch and I don't see myself packing it away even when I do get The Switch. There are a ton of Wii games that I'd still love to get my hands on (I still haven't played eXcitebike or eXcite Truck) and I want to go back and really try beating some of these Wii U games that I haven't yet beaten (Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 1 & 2, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc). I don't hate the Wii name, I don't hate the Wii U but I think it's about time Nintendo moved on and tried something different. I really hope Nintendo's next console is more successful than the last and more successful than the Gamecube. I really hope this one gets a lot of support and I hope this is a console that I can spend years upon years playing with and enjoying the new Nintendo Switch.
One final note...I liked The Devil's Third. I thought it was a much more enjoyable game than Game & Wario, I thought it was a much more enjoyable game than Wii Sports Club, I thought it was a much more enjoyable game than Mario Party 10, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, Star Fox Zero, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, Sniper Elite V2 and, Assassins Creed 3. It's not a good game but I had fun with it any way and if I didn't get a Wii U I wouldn't have been able to play it at all.
[sub][sub][sub]Also I did a Shog's Never Played of Devil's Third which I don't think anybody watched but it was still fun none-the-less even though it drove me nuts from time to time...Much more fun than the Wii U Mighty No. 9 Shog's Never Played that I did on Youtube...[/sub][/sub][/sub]
I would like to add-on to this with a point I can't believe I failed to mention originally: The Wii U Pro Controller is the best current generation controller on the market. It has the best D-Pad, it has highly resilient buttons, I love the triggers but most importantly, that SOB simply does. Not. Die. I've had to recharge it fewer than 10 times and I got it on day one with the console itself. The analog stick placement is a little bit questionable on the right side but it's a really easy problem to adapt too after enough time using it. I don't know what kind of batteries power the WUPC but if they power the Joycon L and Joycon R than I wouldn't expect those to die...well, ever. The only time it disappointed me was when I couldn't use it like in Arkham City or when I played Wii games.
I am glad I got one, even if my library isn't as big as my Xbox One's. I found the controller enjoyable to use, I liked that it was BC with the Wii since my one died, the games I had on it were usually worth my time. There are still games I want to get on it, or games I've got for it that I will play soon like "Shovel Knight".
I don't regret my purchase and overall I'm happy with my experience on the console.
It's biggest killer honestly was how they advertised it. Even as early as 4 months ago when I talk to regular people about it they still assumed that it was a disgustingly expensive Wii add on.
They utterly failed in the marketing category and the system suffered for it. That being said the announcement of the Switch came off really strong. (Not as iconic as the Wii advertisements but just as good.) So hopefully through that alone it will do much better.
you love linear games with 5 hour story's and wouldn't dare touch something like a JRPG which can can take 100's of hours to finish let alone a a 20-30 hour game like the Wonderful 101.
Yeeesh man, let him dislike whatever the fuck he wants. He didn't have fun, he didn't like the game, so he wasn't going to try and finish it in hopes it got better. Why do you care so much? Don't be a hardcore defender, just don't.
I played and enjoyed Wonderful 101. Up to stage 6. Why stop there? Because that level was SHIT in section 1 and I think you know why. So many other people stopped at that point too. Do I still like Wonderful 101? Oh yeah, the universe and idea is some of the coolest, most entertaining madness I've seen Platinum put out and I ADORE the final stages of the game I've seen from gameplay videos, as well as the wonderful soundtrack. (ZING!)
The game had MANY problems though, ones that people didn't want to deal with until the end of the game. They have every right to feel that way. Respect that.
Oh, right, OT: I don't regret it. Fast Racing Neo was worth my time, so was everything else. Still trying to find the will to boot the system up again though
