Most people are well meaning, even if they screw up occasionally you know they didn't mean any malice by that slip of the tongue or general failure.

If that isn't something you can smile at I'm going to have to break out the kittens. Eat your meal feeling safe in the knowledge that the god made the animal out of meat for a reason.

Exactly: A majority of the Germans didn't wanna fight the war (especially later on), and most people weren't very fond of the Nazi party. Those who were forced to fight and died there went to heaven. The taliban is different though: They are more of a terrorist orginization then they are an army. They'd prolly end up in heck.

My comforting truth is that I'm not such a jumped up egocentric fuckwit with an overinflated sense of my own self importance and intelligence that I think strangers in the street are thinking of ways to harm me. They have better things to think about, we all do.

Oh yes. I guess that both comfortable and uncomfortable truth is that i'm not important. On one hand, i will not become a historical figure and may find myself endangered by something blanket (war, natural disaster). On the other hand, that means chances of someone deliberately coming after me are astronomically slim. Take that, Hitler!

Oh, another nice thing: racism has been pretty much discredited. It's still there, yes, but it's no longer a popular viewpoint. Oh, and there's also that "gender equality" thing, which has started even earlier than "racial equality", and is thus even more widely accepted. How's that for a comforting truth?
