I use Facebook because it's convenient to quickly chat and message people because pretty much everyone's on it, and sometimes my friends organize parties and stuff only on there, and there have been occasions where I've missed some because I've been off Facebook for the weekend or something, and none of them bothered to text or call me.

Of course, that could be just because I have shitty friends (which, I admit, can be the case more times than it should), but meh. Whatever. Hopefully, I'll get better ones at university, when I'm older and probably not as much of a depressed loner.

I had one, rarely used it. All it did was seem to inspire the type of petty drama I was hoping to leave behind when I left high school. Deleted it and haven't looked back.

I use Facebook more than I'd like to. Status updates are lame and I rarely do those. I see it as a way to message my friends quickly like many people have already commented. Other than that I don't see much of a use for it. I play the game, it doesn't play me.

I will say this, Facebook is a great way to end relationships you don't want. Say someone you knew from a few years ago is being annoying/pandering/idiotic/any of the other thousands of stupid things people are when the post it on Facebook. You can totally call them out or troll the hypocrite out of them. A fun way to end contact with unworthy souls. You'll find some great examples on http://failblog.cheezburger.com/failbook

No.

to be more specific: FUCK no.

I only use it for a quick way to access the news and to post the occasional funny picture/youtube video.

Yeah I enjoy it but it is a terrible time waster MY VALUABLE INTERNET TIME. I'll get on just to message a friend or check stuff for 5 minutes and it turns into half an hour. Just awful

It's good for coordinating events, but only because it is what everyone uses. Otherwise I use it to find out what doughnuts my favorite shop is making that day. Useful

ITT: Gamers reinforce the stereotype that they are antisocial.

It combines e-mail, instant messaging, and a day planner. It also helps with event organization for groups that are too small to set up an actual website, not to mention regular usenet style groups for smaller groups of like-minded people, like a micro-forum. So, yeah, I use it all the time. If you can't find a use for any of that, you probably have no social life.

I'm indifferent towards Facebook. Although, these days I tend to just log on Facebook, notice there is nothing of interest, and then log off again.

Facebook is just something i use everyday, but don't spend a lot of time on it. Most of the time it's just a bunch of druken pictures from ladyfriends, or the political ramblings of some guy who hasn't got much in his life other than to ***** about the goverment all the time (I seriously don't know why i am his friend to be honest).

Now Cracked, and TV Tropes...Those are the real Timesinks.

I had an account but never added more than about 60-70 people at a time. Also kept up with a private group of 400 or so. It's been shut off for a couple years now.

It's just that there is nothing of VALUE in the things everyday people have to share there. There is so much information in a world that is completely plugged in coming at you from all directions all day long; it has to be prioritized. Information from social media interaction is one of the lowest forms; nothing but ill informed blathering that the world is dumber for.

Facebook? Isn't that what that one David Fincher movie was about? Seems like I'm always hearing people talk about it.

OT: Yeah, I use facebook to keep in touch with old friends I would have lost touch with otherwise. It's good to send friends links they might appreciate etc.
Pretty much this and the hilariously "Offensive" pages that post pictures all day. I don't consider a day on Facebook wasted unless I couldn't tag my fiancee in a single Hitler/Nazi/Jew joke. Then I feel sad and watch TV or something instead. Then again... I get a LOT of my automotive related news from the different pages I subscribe to, including both Manufacturer Pages (Chevy, Camaro, SRT, BUT NEVER CARS LIKE HYUNDAI OR DAEWOO!), Team Pages (Chevy Racing, Falken Tires Racing, Ryan Tuerck, John Force Racing, etc.), Aftermarket Parts Manufacturers (SEMA, LSX TV, EVERYTHING DRIFT, Edelbrock, Holley, etc). Do I spend TOO MUCH time on facebook? Well, if I had any friends here in town, I would say yes, but since I only ever see my father on Monday's and Fridays, and all weekend is spent with my own family, and I still get enough reading and TV into my spare time, I believe I am fine. Now, if I needed to work on my car, and instead I spent all day on Facebook, yeah, I would have a problem.
