The Touhou Thread

I'm not sure if a thread like this has been made before, but so far I've searched and haven't found a thread specifically for touhou discussion. So, anyways, like the title says, this is a place where you can discuss things relevant to touhou. For those of you who don't know what Touhou, or Touhou Project is, it's an manic vertical-scrolling shooter game, a.k.a. Danmaku. I'm pretty new to Touhou. currently I have T.H.6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and T.H.7: Perfect Cherry Blossom. So far I have yet to beat either game on normal due to my epic failure usually around stage 5 (Damn you Sakuya and Youmo). ReimuB is what I always use, but maybe that's the problem.

I have been meaning to try those, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Any idea which one I should start with, and what's the best place to buy?

Not a huge fan of the graphics or loli characters in Touhou games. I usually just stick to the Cave, Raizing, or Psikyo shmups.

I love Touhou, am playing it right now : D
I have all the games, most of the English patches, and can play most of them on normal mode... xD

Metric Monkey that video rocked. I can hardly beat stage 5, and if I ever do I'm usually left with only 1 or 2 lives for the last stage. Remilia is the hardest thing ever. >_<

I've played what I think are demo versions of 7 and 10 and found them to be fun shumps with good art. What really appeals to me about Touhou, however, is the artwork, music [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CrowningMusic/TouhouProject], and fanbase. If only the games weren't so hard and hard to get working.

The only game iv played is Shoot The Bullet and i LOVE it.
I really want to play the fighting game Scarlet Weather Rhapasody.
It just creeps me out how the entire cast is female.
(except for one guy, but he is not that important.)

Glad to see more westerners who've heard of Touhou. Though you really can't get the game legally without importing it (But that's only around $40).

The anime graphics and weird character designs would probably turn a lot of people off of it too.

I really respect ZUN for keeping the series independent this long. Touhou is probably the most popular independent game series ever and it would be extremely easy for ZUN to commercialize and become rich off of it (if he isn't already with just the independent sales).
