Right my bad, anyone want to work on interactions before the rp starts then maybe how we met or just set up a few friendships/ relationships.
Sounds good to me. As I said in my post, I built a few hooks into my character for people to work with so using them to build a relationship could be fun.

Example: My character pissed off a noble family at some point - perhaps it was one of the enemy families of one of the the "displaced noble" characters such as Damien Daresh, Nathan Ramirez, or Caedis Saevio.

Maybe Atticus Tinkerous and I met after he asked me to steal some weather control tech/magic or I tried to steal a purse.

Just ideas.

Not really sure what to make with your character avouleance2nd - i didn't really follow the character description very well. If you have any ideas however, I'm probably up for it.
I like your idea, hiei. I can see it working out kinda like this:

"I asked you to help me locate these people and bargain for some of their technology. NOT. ROB THEM. BLIND! Eh, I guess this is my fault though. Stupid farmboy brain... 'No, no Atticus, don't get your stuff back, turn the thief in, and get on with life, ask her to help you get a few valuable things and expect her not to do something illegal. That'll work out just dandy!"

Oh and avouleance, I kinda like your character because she seems like a character Atticus would immediately be interested in since she's a strange being from a technologically advanced level. He'll want to ask her everything possible, but will have to hold back because he doesn't want to tear open any wounds. Atticus can also feel sympathy and fear because he could easily be put in her place. If he can't find what he needs to save his level, the people of Agris will probably die out and Atticus will be left to simply roam the levels and tell their story.

@hiel: Ah... good times

@Naut: Nice to see you here as well.

@Asc: Thanks! To be honest I flipped a coin deciding my character's gender on this one. I kinda didn't want to have another female character but lady luck decided it was so.

I'm not going to have my character just be a blank slate with no arc. I am planning to have him be more fleshed out as the story progresses, I just don't want to be explicit with it from the start. I find it more interesting for there to be an enigma in the group, someone everyone is unsure of, at least to some extent. However, that said, I take your point that this is a tad cliche of a beginning.
You could always flesh the character out and then state what information you don't want the party to know. That way we can RP without knowing the information while the current GM will be able to plan for your character.

Also: trust me when I say that having a secret character sheet, while tempting, can become extremely hard to manage (for both staying in character and for information management) as time goes on.
Dr. Owen Laurence
just a suggestion

Edit: And I know that only 3 people in here will get the "cough cough" bit
Well, I changed that. Let me hear what you think.

Well, I for one like it. Back-stabbing the pointy hat is always fun! Especially evil pointy hats!

...

...

...

I promise not to back-stab the party's mage(s)...

That said, it's up to Asc for character approval. You may want to flesh out why you want the power of the Tower of Druaga - power to live forever like your master wanted? Power toward some unspeakable evil plan? Power as it's own end? - but its not my place to critique characters as it's not my job and Faunra is still far from perfect.

On that note:

Works for me. Unless you have an objection I will add some variant of this to my character's history:
We met on some lower level city (we need a city name. suggestion?)

You were unable to get some techno-magic MacGuffin from some aristocrat. Somehow you heard that I might be able to get it for you. I didn't like that particular nobleman. Payment ensued.

Several hours later, under the cover of darkness, I delivered the weather gadget.

Shortly thereafter, we are run out of town for thievery. We agree to team up - Faunra to get away from civilization and maybe get some revenge on evil noblemen, you for [insert your reason here].

Yes? / No?

Name: Gale Kenneth

Age/Gender: 17, Male

Height/Weight: 5"10, 185lbs

Appearance: Mostly muscular, an athletic build. Dark black hair that is kept reasonably short so that it doesn't obstruct his vision. Bright blue eyes, and a large scar running from his forehead down the right side of his face. Wears a black cloak over a set of dark black studded leather armor. Dark boots and black finger-less gloves complete his set of clothing.

History: Gale was brought up in a strong community, with a loving family. Gale could have done anything he wanted with his life, he could have gone on to do great things in many different fields, but that all changed the day his younger brother died. It had been a bright summer morning, Gale's family had been out and about in the town, spending their money on things the family would need to live out the winter. Gale had been left home to take care of his younger brother, and make sure that he wasn't getting into trouble since he was a known trouble-maker. Gale took his younger brother out for lessons on fishing near the falls. Everything was going well until later in the day when Gale and his younger brother were actually packing up their fishing equipment.

Gale and his brother were standing out in the water, putting their fish away in baskets when they heard a rustle from the nearby trees. They turned towards the sound only to see a group of bandits emerging from the tree line, bows drawn and swords out. The man in front seemed to be the leader, brandishing dual sabers in front of him with a grin that spread ear to ear. The bandit's threatened to kill both Gale and his brother if they didn't give up their valuables and whatever fish they had collected. Gale's younger brother, being a righteous man, refused and started to run back up river to tell the village of the bandit's arrival. The bandit's reaction was swift and bloody. Gale's younger brother fell into the river with three arrows sticking out of his back, one finding a spot directly into his heart, while the other two punctured either his shoulder or his lower back. Gale was devastated, running towards the bandits in a frenzy, not caring for his own safety just wishing to cause as much damage as possible. Gale was taken down in an instant, the bandit leader dealing a number of terrible wounds that halted Gale's attempts at revenge. Gale was left bloodied and dying the in river as the bandit's raided their rucksacks for anything the felt useful.

If it hadn't been for a maiden traveling along the river to see the beauty of the waterfall, Gale wouldn't have survived. The maiden brought Gale ashore, and treated his wounds, staunching the wounds and stopping the flow of blood. Gale was then taken back to the village and his wounds were treated by the village healers, who administered poultices and salves that were meant to fight off infection and seal the wounds. Gale was bed-ridden for nearly three months, during which his father went off on a search for Gale's younger brother. It was then that he found his way to the Tower of Druaga, and started his ascent. Gale's father hasn't been heard of since.

Another two months passed after Gale's full recovery, and he set out for the Tower himself. Gale crafted a sword since his families had been taken by his father, and traveled quickly to the Tower to begin his ascent.

Reason to be here/things to do: Gale has many reasons to climb the Tower of Druaga, first and foremost to find his father. Second is to reach the top and gain the powers of a god, to revive his younger brother. Third, is to overcome death itself, and to gain the powers to conquer all in his path.

Personality: Gale is more violent than calm. He prefers to solve his problems with anger and force rather than wait for a more calm solution. Gale seems to be a completely different person than he used to be. Before his brother's death, Gale could always be seen smiling and laughing, joking with the villagers. Now, Gale is subdued and rarely smiles. He tends to avoid contact with other people unless absolutely necessary. Gale will let nothing stand in his way to climb the Tower, not even if it means he must kill innocents. In his mind, it is justified.

Notable Skills: Gale is an exceptional swordsman, and an incredibly skilled fighter. Gale excels in most combat situations, and is hard pressed to be bested.

Equipment: A set of black leather armor, a newly crafted long-sword, a steel shield, a dark black cloak, three torches, flint and steel, a rope, a full water-skin, 20 gold pieces.

Let me know if anything needs changing.

It's alright. "Dark past avenging warrior" is played out, so I hope you'll be able to evolve the character from there. He still has to be able to work in a group.

Opening volley goes up tonight :D

I'm alright with it. I think Atticus would mainly agree to the team up for Faunra's set of skills. Whenever Atticus can't get a certain type of tech from certain people, he tends to start putting together elaborate lies. A few of his most useful are that he's ambassador for some kingdom or that he's getting ready to fight a war. These lies tend to work on simpler people, or people who can relate to his situation.

Not so much nobleman and aristocrats.

When things end up like that, he ends up finding a nice tall spot, far away from whatever building the tech is in, and simply snipes them from a far, usually with sleeping powder.. Then he tries to get in close.

This never really works out so well for him.

In simpler terms, he's ends up running down a few hallways frantically grabbing whatever he can, being chased by guards, laying traps behind himself, and then jumping through a window. Never been much of a great sneak, plus he never ends up getting whatever he needs.

Which is why he agrees to team up with Faunra. She's better at the whole thieving thing.

Despite her misgivings, she agreed. Under the cover of darkness, Faunra broke into the nobleman's home and took the device along with several emeralds as a "bonus". Hours later, in an old tavern, she delivered her ill-gotten gains. Unfortunately, the Marquis was both perceptive and unforgiving; not minutes into the trade, the Marquis personal guard had found them. Ducking behind the bar, the two escaped out the back. Several hours, and most of the "appropriated" gems later, the two were out of reach. In need of a change of location, Faunra decided to follow Atticus on his quest to the Tower of Druaga and a fellowship was born.

In all seriouness, I'm assuming that we are already in a group rather than us wandering alone in this city. Tell me if I need to edit.

General Statistics:

Name: Aleister Cole
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Height: 6'6''
Weight: 165lbs

Appearance: Thin body, semi-athletic build, some signs of muscular development. Shoulder length dark red hair, and his bangs fall slightly in front of his violet coloured eyes; a few strands on the side of his bangs help frame his face. Small, but visible scar across left eye. Slightly pale skin.

Character History:

Not much, if anything of Aleister's birth is known to recorded history, for he was found abandoned, and alone, wandering through the dark city streets. Whether it was by fate, fortune, or luck, he was found by a travelling swordsman, names Krios who took him in, and raised him like a son.

Over the years, the pair of them travelled the world, training almost day and night, so that Aleister could become a master swordsman, and hopefully discover who his parents were, and why they abandoned him.

Throughout his training, he began to show signs of magical talent, specifically in the fields of elemental control. During the few hours of peace with his master, Aleister practised his slowly growing powers. He managed to develop a technique, whereby he could imbue his sword with an element, this would increase the damage dealt, but also give off various effects associated with that element.

During his twenty year, he and his master came under attack by bandits along the Lacuna Archipelago. Despite their best efforts, Krios was killed. The bandits, seemingly happy with their work, left an unconscious Aleister behind. It was several hours after the attack when he woke up. Burning with rage at the death of Krios, who he considered his family, he quickly abandoned his original quest of finding his real parents, and set off to track down, and get revenge for Krios's death.

Before he left though, he buried his mentor, and took his prized sword, as a memento, and a reminder of his mission. Throughout his quest, he has served as a mercenary to help pay his for his travel.

Reasons To Ascend The Tower: To get revenge for the death of his master.

Personality:

Aleister is a relatively calm person, he rarely raises his temper, and only does so in dire circumstances. He can come off as a friendly person, with a rather intelligent mind. Many consider him to be quite the gentlemen, willing to help others, especially ladies, if they are in need of assistance.

Notable Skills:

Aleister is an expert swordsman, mastering the use of both single handed and two handed blades. He is also a powerful Red Mage, being able to apply various elemental properties to his attacks. Aleister is also literate, and very knowledgeable of the world, thanks in part to Krios teachings, but also of his own curiosity.

Equipment:

Aleister carries around with him three swords, two of them are his own, and the ones he has practised with throughout his time with his master, Krios. The other one is Krios's own sword, known as "The Edge of Soul".

He also carried with him some first aid equipment, a reasonably sized pouch of gold, and a glyph, a weird mystic circle that appeared on his shoulder when he first discovered his magical prowess. It allows him to use his magic, without the aid of a staff, or some other magical enchanted weapon.

Here It Is, Hope There Is Still Time For It To Be Accepted.

You wouldn't believe it took me most of the day to write it up. Call it a case of writers block.

I'm working on a character right now, so I was wondering, would it be late to join in?

EDIT: Right, here it is, hope it'll get approved (and fast >.<)

Name: Stonefuse Stormbender

Age: Unknown

Gender: Unknown

Height: 8 feet tall

Weight: Varies (depends on what he is made of at any given moment)

Appearance: The whole surfice of his body made out of human skin, obviously unnatural, his eyes of white marble. Wearing dirty white wool clothes.

History: An inhabitant of Hurricos, Marikos Stormbender was a man of science. Constantly designing new, better machines for the good of his fellow citizens, he was respected, but in no means special. A technologically advanced land, Hurricos had many inventors and innovators, knowledgeable people that could create things denizens of other levels could not even imagine or comprehend, and in such a place to ascend to a publicly known figure would mean to flabbergast others with an invention that seemed utill then out of reach.

In his midlife crisis, Marikos feared what many fear: the fear of being forgotten. To leave no trace behind, nothing meaningful or worth of notice. His fears gearing towards paranoia, and his paranoia towards insanity, he managed to do what many thought impossible - creating life where there was none. But as only mothers know, giving life requires a price; a price of blood and pain. And in his quest, Stormbender did what no man should ever do: he took the life of his wife and unborn child, fusing their energy with the power of the storms and into the stone and metal golem he had prepared. It had to be a pregnant woman, thought Stormbender, for one life was payment for another, and the other life was to grant the soul. And so Stonefuse Stormbender was born.

Marikos' crime didn't go unnoticed, nor did his accomplishment. Marikos was sentenced to death, but a different fate awaited his creation. The first few weeks were hard for the scholars that were teaching Stonefuse. Implementing basic logical patterns and understanding was simpler than teaching a child, for sure, but most of the time it was literally like speaking to a rock. After that first phase, however, the golem started garnering information with unnerving ease. Soon enough, after many an experiment, an innate ability of Stonefuse's was found - he could change his substance into any other he was in contact with, as long as it was solid. After more experiments and practice, Stonefuse was able to maintain a couple of different materials, each for a different body part or depth.

But this was not to last. Scholars were so into testing Marikos' creation, that they forgot to teach it morality. Obedience was taught, and when once joke made by a scholar got him killed, others suddenly realised that a hulking mass of stone and metal with the brain of a child might be dangerous. But they could not destroy it, for it would be a crime to destroy such advancement, so they sent it to the levels above to live out its life, however that may be.

Reason to be here/things to do: Exiled from Hurricos, sent to the higher levels, he doesn't know what else to do other than climb upwards.

Personality: Obedient. Absentminded when not being conversed with for a while (you'd have to repeat his name a couple of times for him to register you). Does as he is told, not spending a second's thought on the consequences. Cold and unsympathetic, doesn't understand humor.

Notable skills: Can change his supstance into other solid supstances he is in contact with. While doing so, he can absorb them, or be "enter" the object (imagine entering a rock) if it is bigger than him (he could basicly walk through a door), seamlessly blending with it.

Equipment: Only the clothes he is wearing.

This was exhausting.

Any criticisms or ideas are welcome.

Of course, you can play with the plot hooks as you see fit.

EDIT 2: Oh, right, almost forgot. The "Reason to be here/things to do" part is going to change as Stonefuse starts grasping that he is alive, that he has things he wants to do, to become, and eventually it will be about becoming human.

A few things-

pyroguy86, I've decided to hold off on your character until you scale the aggression down. We already have one person in the party like that, and the group needs to be cohesive.

I'm also getting more character sheets, but I want to leave it up to everyone- do you want more people to join you? I know these things take time to write, but it would be more people than I've ever had experience dealing with.
