I would. The Truman Show was a very eye-opening movie for me in terms of social existence and 3rd person.
Well, if you want to go down the Orwellian route, 1984 is about a man trapped in an oppressive regime where he and the rest of the general populace are monitored for any signs of disobedience. But you probably know that already. That's the most vaguely similar book I can think of anyway. Much, much, much darker though.zmbiejesus said:

Strafe Mcgee pretty much said everything else that I had planned to say, but IMHO, The Truman Show is a very underrated movie. One of my all-time faves.

I wuv that movie ^^, I got the same kind of vibe from reading Catch-22, even though there aren't really any similarities between the two.
Fantastic movie. I was surprised that Carrey was able to pull off such a straight character so well, particularly following films like Batman Forever and Ace Ventura.
But he made it look easy, and made the character of Truman so empathisable (is that a word?) that it turned The Truman Show from a good film to a pretty awesome film.
