HA! You sir are awesome! My thoughts exactlyEspirituExterminatus said:I swear. At least half the female gamers on this site make a thread about female gamers within their first 50-100 posts.
Anyway, as for your question. Girl gamers are a plague on the gaming world. They whore it up for attention all the while claiming not to and then complain about how females are represented in games. The world would be far better off without them.
However. Gamers who just so happen to be girls are fine. Those who just game without feeling the need to draw attention to the fact. Even in a round about way such as this.
When I jump online, I do not want female gamers. I just want gamers. Whatever it is you are packing in your panties is best kept out of the conversation.
As for why guys make a fuss. Because A) They are sad pathetic losers and B) The girls force a fuss if one does not naturally occur.
In my eyes, there are two types of girl gamers, Serious gamers, and attention seeking ones.Nellios said:Snipped.

Okay, we don't all view girl gamers as this incredible holy grail that we seem unable to discover in the real world and we don't all wish we had a girlfriend, but i'd say a sizeable chunk of the male gamer demographic can safely lay claim to this. I don't think sexism is the main issue per se, more that the prospect of a female - attractive or not - is in to such a typicall 'nerdy' past-time is somewhat shocking. The sexism point is of course reinforced by the many games that focus on pandering to the male demographic. The action heavy games with the gritty male protagonist that the young adult male looks up to and always rescues the damsel in distress. The tough Marcus Fenix and charming Nathan Drakes of gaming, if you like, all look toward young men in their appeal. Some of the blame for this divide does also rest with the self-proclaimed girl gamers as well, though, as others have said. Sometimes they outright advertise their gender, when it really sin't necessary. I don't mean making a female avatar for example, but when you look on their profile and in big bold letters under bio it says 'YES I'M A GIRL'.Maxwell -EOD- said:Because most boys who devote their life to games or regularly post on an internet forum are friendless virginswho can't wrap their minds around the idea that there are women that are equal or greater than them on the world stagewho are for the most part probably fairly lonely and would give anything in the world for a 'girl gamer' friend, or even better a 'girl gamer' girlfriend, something not exactly likely to happen. Especially with the (still) fairly negative social stigma surrounding video games as a hobby.
