Seriously though, why would you read a Halo book? the story (and games themselves, imo) are so mediocre I feel I might literally be bored to tears attempting it in book form, and this is from a guy who actually does spend a decent amount of time reading.
I have read one book, Halo: Fall of Reach and it didn't suck too much. It was a nice way of deepening the universe of Halo and giving depth to the games since you know more about the past of the characters.
Where is the problem in that? It's not like anyone thinks a book about Halo-universe is going to be the next Shakespearean literatury treasure.
Also, the universe in Halo is quite nice and has a real history which can be studied if the player decides to do so, so saying that it's mediocore compared to a "standard gameworld" just shows that you have propably just kept on shooting at things without even giving any real thought to your surroundings.
