Forged from Adamantium in the fires of Mount Doom and tempered in the blackest pits of Hell. The blade is imbued with the allmighty power of Lord Sauron and the blood of the Witch King of Angmar. It powers up to unleash a devastating hellfire storm by absorbing the life force of anything around me, and if anyone else tried to use it, contact with the sword would blacken their souls to the point of turning them into a wraith to do my bidding. (I am stealing heavily from Lord of the Rings and slightly from Onimusha). It would be a two hander and can block anything. On the blade would be "Lord Macgyvercas, Destroyer of Souls" in blood red runes that were carved by Valkyries in Valhalla. The blade is serrated and the hilt is made of Adamantium coated dragon bones. On the hilt are spirals of black onyx leading from the blade to the pommel. The onyx serves to project an aura that strikes fear into my enemies.

A blade crafted to separate into 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 tiny pieces, float and spin around the user cutting anything that comes into contact with them with a cutting aura. Of course not harming the user and being magically indestructible.

Hmm. Clearly a lightsaber is the perfect heroic sword. Simple minimalist design, Occam's Razor. Elegant and simple, and it glows, what more do you need? Oh,burning through anything and deflecting blaster fire is also a big pro aswell.

Why, Carrot's sword!

"Surprisingly, therefore, there is something very unexpected about this sword. It isn't magical. It hasn't got a name. When you wield it you don't get a feeling of power, you just get blisters; you could believe it was a sword that had been used so much that it had ceased to be anything other than a quintessential sword, a long piece of metal with very sharp edges. And it hasn't got destiny written all over it it.
It's practically unique, in fact."

I don't care how it looks, but it has to be useable in one hand, and must be able to defeat a Round 50 Nazi Zombie in one strike.

I liked the idea of a sword capable of killing 30 generation of your ancestors in one strike, and erasing every correspondance of you in parallel universe.
Made from demon very prized tears
or a sword the molecules just accept to separate even if the sword itself don't touch them yet

Arthas is a poor man's Stormbringer. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elric_of_Melnibon%C3%A9]

Though arguably the Lich King was inspired by, and could be thought of as a more straightforwardly villainous take on, Moorcock's antiheroic albino.
