Felt I should explain myself. I should also mention that I'm more of a, I guess you could call "Macro" player, and I love having nice, long missions where I can play at my own pace, spend hours if I want to creating a nice, big, metaphorical "Fuck you" kind of army, the one that absolutely wipes out everything in it's path. Perhaps get periodically attacked or something, but I despise time limits and I despise escort missions, as well as "Collect these pieces to build this" missions and stealth missions. Attack and Defend missions are simplistic, but that's what I want, and above all, I'm just worried that Blizz might've put in some broken missions to be innovative.

I also worry about hearing a rumor that you have to be connected to battlenet at all times just to play singleplayer, and that has me worried because not only do I travel alot, but when I'm home, my internet is more bipolar then your average teenager.
From the sounds of it, SC2 might not be fitting for you based on your single player preferences alone. There are a couple missions that involve building a huge army and breaking shit, but the vast majority revolve around variety of play style.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Which is unfortunate, as that was what I liked about the first SC. I guess I'll have to stick with SupCom and Command and Conquer. Thanks anyway guys.

Well, I really liked SC1, and I liked the beta of SC2. The question is, I'm more of a single player kinda guy, is there enough content to justify it's purchase?
Personally, I wholeheartedly believe the singleplayer campaign alone is worth the full price. It's just incredible and I love playing through it and hearing the story and messing with all the little things strewn about the Hyperion. It's massive. They did NOT skimp out on the campaign at all.

I'm going to go ahead and do a counter point to this.
The singleplayer felt unfinished, the story is horribly incomplete, and I mean just the Terran part that should have been done(since this is the only game you play as them in). Other then that it's a good game if you liked StarCraft 1.

Well, Starcraft 2 probably won't be your cup of tea. There are missions for pretty much everything you said you liked and disliked, so maybe try a trial?

Also, from what I understand you only need to be connected to Battle.net initially. After that it doesn't matter, only when logging-in. This isn't Ubisoft's DRM.

Well, when you buy Starcraft 2 there are 2 trial things in it that you can give away. If you have any friends that have already bought it you should try asking them. I just checked and they're called Guest Passes (they're also two 10-day WoW guest passes for whatever reason, trying to hook more people I guess).

Edit: It lasts for 7 hours of playing or 14 days (whichever makes it shorter).

got a question, have they released a patch for that graphics card bug or do you still need to patch the file yourself?

Afaik you still have to do it yourself. It's just a copy/paste though. Things are getting fixed at a really glacial pace so far, the single player is pretty buggy, missions often never finish loading for me and I have to reboot, stuff gets stuck (Zeratul got stuck permanently uncontrollable for example and not even loading would fix him, I had to restart the mission), achievements are sometimes not unlocked even though you complete them (I had to play Safe Haven 3 times before the game gave me the Hard achievement) and Battlenet is shaky at best (profiles take ages to load, sometimes there's lag in the games and sometimes Bnet completely freezes for a few minutes and noone can do anything other than chat). Really underwhelming.

There was a "beta" group http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/StarCraft-2-Beta but since it's not in beta anymore, I guess it's time for a new one. Once I figure out all this video capture stuff, I'm going to try to make a basic multiplayer tutorial.
Are you having trouble with a specific program or just the replay system? I'm trying to do the same thing but I have a mac so I'm probably using a different video capture program, but I can offer any help you want. I mostly play zerg so I may need some help from people who play Terran and Protoss.

I've been trying to use FRAPS and that's been getting nowhere since I can't currently afford to get the full version. So I've been trying to use livestream (and Justin.tv) and just cut it into VODS and post those on Youtube, but I can't get my capture settings right and it has crap quality and lags to hell.

I'm not having a single one of those problems...so...
Also I've noticed a lot of people thinking they should have gotten an achievement when they simply hadn't actually accomplished it.

I've only used FRAPS once back when I had an ancient PC and it was only the demo version, but even back then it was one of the best options. I would honestly suggest just saving up for FRAPS because most video capture programs are either going to be about on par or a bit worse, and $37 really isn't that much.

I was having some problems with certain achievements, but some of them turned out to be my own silliness rather than a legitimate bug. When I was trying to do the "Hold the Line" achievement for Zero Hour, I would never lose a structure, but it would always say I lost one at some point. It turns out that for some reason it would count losing one in the final cutscene as the battlecruiser comes in to save everyone. So I just needed to completely overkill the defense and I got it.

There is one that has been legitimately bugged for me and that is "The Hard/Brutal X" achievements. I've beaten a ton of missions on those difficulties, but the counter hasn't moved past 1 on either of them.

Anyone looking to play Zerg should watch this video. It's a great example of a zerg rush. Make sure you watch it ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

(Yes, it's a joke, but I laughed way too hard at this)

Zealot legs into storm for marauders, stalker/immortal for roaches. Another nice trick for zerg is to act like your going colossus, but only build one. Let the zerg fill his army up with corruptors, then come in with a force that's mainly blink stalkers.

-_-

Psi Storm for both of those will solve your problem right quick, at least until you start facing Zerg who are smart enough to get the speed increase for roaches.

Can't wait for that Zerg campaign. Here's hoping the Defiler, Devourer, Swarm Guardian, Swarm Host, Scourge, and Dracolisk are available units.
