The doctor enthusiastically accepted the extended hand, shaking it warmly before guiding it to Kiel's side. "Don?t strain yourself," he said. "Wouldn't do to undo my good works. Now that the city healers have left I just don't have the tools to make any kind of major repairs, so you ought to just rest for now. I'll need to examine your wounds and make sure nothing has gone wrong during the night, but barring any unfortunate infections you should be fine. As for me," Jemal said, sweeping both hands across his chest, "I have made a one hundred percent physical recovery from last night. What may take a bit longer is the mental recovery, though according to my colleagues that has never been at a peak."

The Doctor turned to Marneus, standing in the doorway, and said, "For Kiel's privacy during the examination, I would appreciate it if you could step outside and ensure no visitors bother us. Thank you, Sir Calgar."

The water-skin gained weight on her hip as Ko'el babbled on about the rules forcing Rhee to make a mental note not to ask an ice elf to explain anything. It was out on the table by the time he was done and waiting for her guess. She lost the first two games relatively quickly testing out where the rules could bend and twist, the third was a win followed by a lucky guess from Ko'el. It went like this for a while until Rhee ended up drinking a little too much and started making some bizarre guesses. While others were completely out there, some were pin point accurate. Finally her stomach was mad with only having alcohol, and it let her know.
she gathered up the cards and replaced the deck back into its tin. "You eat?" she stumbled out of her chair, used a few steps to find her balance and charged off to harass the cooks.

Alexis sat bolt upright in his bed, cold beads of sweat running down his back. He rubbed his tired eyes trying to shake off the nightmare he had just experienced; the sinking ship, murderous elves and the undead hordes hungering for his corpse.

"I am not eating another apple again before bedtime" he grumbled to himself breathing heavily to steady his thoughts. Despite being in reality Alexis still wasn't sure if his insomnia stemmed from indigestion or the lack of peace in his mind. A doubt was growing in his mind, he wasn't sure if everything was back to normal as of yet.

"I need someone to talk to..someone I can trust..someone" he paused inadvertently hearing the irony in his own words. "I've even begun to talk to myself, this is brilliant!" he threw his hands in the air in mock despair.

With a gruff he got out of bed, slipped into his red and loud comfort gown and exited his cabin. He knew there was no one on board he could trust but there was one he could tolerate more than the others.

He walked down the hallway stopping only at a particular cabin door. He took a deep breath and knocked three times on the plain wooden paneling before calling out "Master mage Raven. Am I intruding at this time?"

San walked softly away from the ice elf - he was happy to do so - though this mean't that yet again San would have to find something to do or someone to talk to.

He glanced quickly around and saw no-one inparticular that he had any desire to talk to so he carried on walking trying to get a feel for the ship. As he looked to his right there was a smaller ship that was escorting, by the looks of things, the Cepolada. He recognised the flag, it was the provosts - did they never leave him alone?!

He ducked inside the door and finding no-one nearby he went for a little exploration below decks.

Feeling calmer and more serene about the Expedition, Rokya left his room and walked down the hall towards the knight and introduced himself. "Evening, Sir knight. My name is Rokya Nasheel, it's an honor to meet you. I've heard about your battle last night but not many details, did you really fight off five undead abominations on your own?"

Marneus looked at Rokya, and held out his hand.

"Marneus Calgar. And I had assistance from a fellow expidition member."

Shaking the armored gauntlet Rokya continued, "Another member? It wasn't Jonas Thrace, was it? I heard he had fought off many enemies as well, but I doubt his ability at occupying two fights at once."

Marneus shook his head.

"No. I'm not certain who it was, it was quite dark after all, but I believe it was an Orc."

"There are... Orcs? And they can fight...? Is the Captain a masochist? Why in the world would he continue on this journey with Orcs and Elves, and undead abominations?" Rokya's cool feeling of peace slowly restored itself as he took a deep breath.

Marneus smirked and crossed his arms.

"I believe the captain himself is an Orc, as such I would advise you lower your voice."

"Oh... I did not know that... I haven't actually met the Captain, you see, and I guess I never picked him out while on deck." Rokya blushed and changed the subject. "So, which part of North Merdallan do you hail from?" The young man leaned up against the wall as he spoke, "I'm from Lomar myself, I've never been anywhere in Merdallan but I've heard stories from the merchants I've done business with."

"My family comes from a line of-" Marneus coughed, interrupting himself.

"Excuse me, may we head down to the hold? I require a glass of water."

"Certainly, I wouldn't dare deprive an armored knight a drink, especially if we're traveling comrades for the weeks to come," Rokya said as the two started walking. Much more polite than I was expecting, and succinct. Seems to employ the 'Listen and Learn' practice of conversation, he thought to himself.

"Like every city in Merchant's Water, a den of vice and hardly legal lifestyles. Plenty of trade with the smaller cities, towns, and in-between villages, but we do get the occasional airship or caravan from far off. Occasionally we get a ship that's been attacked by the River Pirates that didn't go to Tyb, but aside from that, it's rather basic. Practical, but basic," Rokya said with a shrug.

Marneus nodded, and noticed they had arrived at the ladder to the hold. They climbed down, and Marneus quickly sought out a cup and a barrel of water with a pump in the side. He filled his cup, and leaned his helmet back enough to uncover his mouth and took a sip.

Lowering his helm back in to place, he turned back to Rokya.

"Ah, much better."

"You don't take your helmet off even for a drink?" Rokya asked, smirking. "Either you're the ugliest man alive, or intensely paranoid. I guess it doesn't matter, we're all peculiar in our own ways. Just make sure you find someway to clean yourself, the smell alone will announce your presence to all creatures of the deep," he said with a laugh.

Marneus chuckled politely.

"What with undead abominations and assassins having already attacked this ship, I would prefer to err on the side of caution."

"So have you seen much battle on the fields of Merdallan? I've heard there are always disputes and wars with the Illarym Empire, some spanning years," said Rokya, genuinely interested in any story from the mainland.

The knight's eyes lit up.

"I've fought many battles, on both the fields of combat and the fields of honor. While I have lost some duels against fellow knights, I have been fortunate to not face a loss while partaking in a war."
