You'll notice you start counting after one year, yeah? You weren't one when you popped out of your mother's hoo-ha.

Technically you're about to turn 27. You're FINISHING year 26.

I can't wait to see what those Maxis devs make for the game; while I'm sad to see people out of a job, it does mean they've got more free time for that sort of thing. Gets their skills out there and on display too, I guess! :D
Did any ex-Maxis devs actually announce an intention to do this? Or are you just speculating hopefully?

Because if they did that is VERY cool.

Pillars of Eternity comes out on March 26th, that's 9 days away!

GTA:V on PC comes out April 15th, that's less than one month away!

The Witcher 3 comes out May 19th, that's like 2 months away!

Bethesda is having some major expo panel at this year's E3 in June, that's like 3 months away!

Exciting stuff! Well at least for me, but you should all be excited too! :p

Oh fuck, Pillars comes out next week? I always ignore my Kickstarter emails, so I had no idea lol.

E3 better have a big-ass TES announcement!

So is that a sure thing then? PoE on the 26th? That's cool! I kickstarted that. Have they sent out emails with codes yet?

As for Witcher, it can go fuck a duck. My PC can run it, but the girlfriend has a 560 and it requires a 660. And if I play it while she can't I'll get shivved.

I honestly expect something more along the lines of Fallout 4, though I'd kinda like to see them decide to just grow bigger, get a second main development team and work on Fallout and TES concurrently.

According to the last PoE Newsletter, backers will get an e-mail update with how to redeem their codes closer to release date (like week of), so just look out for that. They are the ones spreading and as of the last newsletter I got a few days ago still sticking to the release date of Mar. 26th!

Oh and get shivved, Geralt will be worth it ;)

You got time to save up money for a 660... or y'know... bandages.

Cool beans. Lets hope Obsidian can beat the "meh" cycle of kickstarted games we've seen so far.

Well, we just dropped $2000 on vet bills, so it's hard to justify upgrading a video card that is still an excellent workhorse in all other respects.

I'm replaying the Mass Effect trilogy for like, literally the jillionth time. I just never get bored of the ME universe. I will probably be playing these games on my deathbed.

In fact, I've been itching to replay about 5 different of my favorite games. That's my positive note for the day. Even if the AAA game industry keeps on going on this quality nosedive they are in, I will never run out of games to play because the best ones never get old.

I've been putting more time into Cities: Skylines than I thought I would when I got it on sale (thanks for that Escapist), and holy shit is it more fun and relaxing than I expected. Still wish there were more buildings (large elementary school please) and more systems under-the-hood so there was more depth to the actual management of the city, but overall I'm fairly pleased. Can't wait to see what modders add later on; shit's gonna be so cash.
If it's just model sizes you are after, there are already "larger" footprints for most of the service buildings available as mods, usually with attached parking lots/service roads, etc. There's no functional difference to their operation, but they look a lot more "real".

Other must have mods...

1. The all 25 tile mod. You can control how many tiles you unlock to tailor it to your PC processing speed. Works beautifully, no visible performance or simulation issues, at least on my rig.

2. The tree brush mod. Lets you lay down a bunch of trees all at once. Saves your wrist.

3. The autosave mod.

There's also a mod out that alters your population growth rate so you don't need to cram the city with skyscrapers. Makes it feel more organic/real. And there's a super-hard-mode mod that actually requires people to "get to work" in order to not lose their job, rather than the semi-abstraction that exists now.
With the larger buildings I was actually more thinking about how Sim City 4 had, for example, elementary schools and large elementary schools so you wouldn't have to make a bunch of small schools and could just have a couple large ones. I'd just rather not have a school per block in my city. Mods or patches will add more buildings, I'm sure.

Imma look into thos emods though, especially the population growth one. As soon as the workshop stops acting up, that is...

The Mass Effect universe has always been my favorite in-game universe, mainly because of how large and believable it seems. Dare I say it, I think it's better than Star Wars. Despite that one ending to that one game with the 3rd in the title I still have a lot of love for the whole series.

My PC died so instead I'm looking at games that are coming out in the future. I'm really optimistic about Crowfall and another game called We Happy Few.

I hear ya. Do try and keep in mind that education is not always desirably in Skylines, though. I started out educating everyone vigorously, but it just creates an unfulfillable demand for high-education jobs. You want farmers and coal miners, you need some uneducated ghettos.

For me, last week's Call of Duty Friday at my friend's place ended with me sniping him with a grenade launcher while singing Bruno Mars' Grenade...

Other than that, I've been saving my money up for a PS4...

Let's see, what else? Oh yeah! After lots of input on my "Is Valkria Chronicles Good?" thread (thanks for all the input by the way), my wife and I have been really having fun playing it together. The anime plot isn't anywhere near as eye-piercingly bad as I thought it would be....except for that fucking pig.
I never understand those who yell about ripping their eyes out over the plot of Valkyria Chronicles. Its workable. Its not amazing, but its not as bad as many make it out to be. It does the job and has some decent enough characters.

Anyway chalk me up as another one playing Cities Skylines. Lots and lots of fun. I actually played SimCity on Origin Gametime and didn't find that to be all that bad either, surprisingly.

Also getting outrageously frustrated at DOTA2 today.

What a coincidence. I'm playing ME3 for the first time. I wanted to give my opinion about all the ME3 ending debacle, but I didn't have played any of the ME games. So I bought all the 3 games, and I recently finished ME2. The happy thought is that, no matter how bad I find the ending, I still have much to play and enjoy in the two first ones (and probably the ME3 multiplayer).
I mean yeah the ending is a bummer, but its not that bad. Its sad and open ended, but not what I would call bad. Its memorable, tugs at the feels, leaves you wanting more and people still talk about it. To me that doesn't say bad.

Having said that, the game itself is fantastic. All the DLCs are really good too, with the possible exception of Javik.

To me the ME trilogy is the best game trilogy of all time, and ME3 is the best in the series save the last five minutes.

And if the ending really gets you down, just find a fanfic of your favorite pairing and read it. Clear you right up.

Just a friendly heads up to everyone ignoring all their Kickstarter emails, you should probably CONFIRM YOUR PLEDGE. The PoE website says this:

"Step one, and this is very important, make sure you have gone through and confirmed your pledge if you haven't already. Almost all of you have already done this, but there are a few folks that still haven't confirmed their pledge. If you don't confirm your pledge (including adding a shipping address for physical goods) we may not be able to fulfill your rewards in a timely manner.

If you need more information about how to confirm your pledge check out Update 69. It goes into full detail about pledge management in the Backer Portal section.

If you have a survey that you never completed, please do so. If you have in-game rewards (like an NPC, an item, or even backer credits) we most likely will be unable to fulfill those rewards because the game is close to releasing, but we will do our best to get those rewards into patches or the expansion pack."

Basically it just involves setting up an Obsidian account and finalizing the order, as it were. Y'all probably knew this already, but possible not if you weren't keeping up.

Heists managed to bring me back into GTA V, I'm having fun with it, I'm looking forward to Bloodborne and my Rogue Trader sessions just keep getting better with me improving as a GM.

I'm excited about the next 6 months when it comes to Nintendo games, just waiting for a new Direct to get some more info, specifically on the new StarFox game which is supposed to be the first new big game.

I'm doing a lot of betting in the SmashBros game trying to acquire the challenge of getting 300 000 coins, all it takes is a bit of pen and paper since the games usually repeat themselves, so after a while I get some easy cash :p
This is s bit if fun while drinking a cup of coffee and watching snooker, and I have lost a bit of my apetite for gaming, and also learning some stuff when the occassional good player pops up and I get to watch him/her smash the others into oblivion :D

I have been replaying Saints Rows 4.
Great game. As errant signal puts it, it is "a love letter to everything that is kitsch". Not cynically or sarcastically, not so-bad-is-good, but an honest to god love letter to everything that is tacky and lowbrow, yet oddly endearing.
SR4 just knocked my socks off. After the disapointment and general overall "choreiness", not to mention downright not fun gameplay, of GTA 4 & 5 SR4 grabbed me by the nuts and ran as far and as fast as it could with me. Never finished it because of bugs, but I didn't care - the 20 odd hours I had playing it were just a total and utter blast. A classic.
I know, right?

I don't want to turn this into a "bash GTA" thread, which goes against the idea of the OP, but I can't say enough about the earnestness of Saints Rows over other open world games.

I mean, they made a Christmas special DLC, and they owned it. There was nothing of cynical commentaries about America's consumerism or trivialization of a holy day that one would expect from other writers; instead they make a Grinch reference and snow angels, with a smile on their faces.
