The VGA speculation thread!

So, who watches the VGA (Video Game Awards) for the actual awards? I'm guessing not many. We watch it for some of the juiciest announcements outside of E3. Most of the time there is only teaser trailers shown, whilst more gameplay and trailers come out around E3 time.

So, with some things already announced for the VGAs like The Last of Us (my most anticipated), Bioware's new game and Epic's new IP what do you guys think will be some of the surprise announcements?

Personally, I am hoping for some Half Life to be announced and with all the HL3 news that has been going around the past few weeks, my hopes are high but still not too high. I also hope to see a gameplay trailer for the new South Park game, so I can see what it is actually about and if I should be looking forward to it.

[EDIT] Also if you want then share what game you think will win the best game in the VGAs. You don't have to, and don't make a flame war since this thread is mainly about the first point.

Heh, I came here thinking the thread was about what would win in the VGAs, but it seems people are clever enough to know not to care about that.

Personally I think we're going to get a troll from Gabe Newell saying that Half Life 3 is coming out in like six days or something obscenely close, or at least that's what I would do. Either that or tell us that it is coming out in like a month and then delay it a day.

I'm also really looking forward to the Bioware game if to only assuage all this annoying "Bioware is making a FPS and it will be horrible OMG one picture shows us this" plague going around.

Yep, it's a newspaper about some plant virus that is spreading. A post apocolyptic game where the enemy isn't zombies or humans would be pretty cool, but I bet there gonna have to resort to shooting or killing other humans.

Right at the beginning, on the bar in the pub. But IGN made a video showing it, which is much easier than trying to find it.

I'm hoping to see some more about DOTA2, CS:GO, and Diablo 3. I failed to get into the beta for all of them (damn it!) so any juicy info or trailers are all I have to go on.

However, above all, I'm hoping against hope that Valve premieres Half-Life 3. I'm not beyond thinking Valve is just trolling us again, but who knows.

Oh, and I'll be watching the VGAs this year for the awards. I know, crazy. But this year Spike pulled their collective heads out of their collective asses and have pooled together a collection of industry experts and veterans to choose not only the nominees but the winners. (see: the GOTY category being dominated by single-player games with nary a COD or other such game in sight) So the winners may actually DESERVE the awards this year.

Cordyceps, which is a type of fungi that controls ants and turns them into "zombies," which then makes them a carrier as the fungi bursts from their heads and releases spores over the rest of the colony.

That has to be the fungus they're talking about, otherwise there'd be no reason in showing the ant. It is a fear that one day Cordyceps may mutate to infect and control human beings, so this is pretty neat and a nice change for the zombie/mutant game or whatever they're making.

Given its the last major games expo this year, and with what EA's RTS developer Victory stated, were likely to see the announcement of the next C&C game over the weekend.

Don't be so hard on them. I mean, they had THREE WHOLE SECONDS to judge it on as well

And I'm thinking there'll be a release date for HL3 (have been saying this since the T-Shirt, getting Deja Vu from last year's Skyrim announcement), checking out whatever StarCraft/D3 stuff Blizz come out with, and... I don't know. Might be an awesome new IP or whatever, maybe that BioWare thing. It'll be hard to surpass 2011 in gaming awesomeness, I've been abso-bloody-lutely LOVING this year

what i want to see is a new mega man game announce in VGA as last hope for capcom to prove me wrong they aren't just killing mega man to make a million version of SF4 and MVC3, half life 3 or HL2 EP3 and king of pirate in 3ds that being made by keji inafune (or whatever it spells) the same guy who made mega man series is getting localize to US.

I hope the new IPs isn't just another FPS games.

It's only a trailer and I did learn my lesson with dead island, but wow looking good!
NaughtyDog has the development too so good signs all round.
