Afternoon all.

So, I got to work this morning and commenced my usual trawling of various sites instead of working as no one else arrives until about a half hour after I do.

So, I went to Banished [http://theawesomer.com/], and have fallen in love. Screw FFXIV, I want this game and I want it now.

I felt the same back before Folk Tale [http://undeadlabs.com/about-state-of-decay/] (a bit disappointed in the slowness of updating as they were so keen before the alpha release, hopefully they patch the game soon) when I first heard about it.

Indie games take a long time, as we all know. So do AAA games. Sometimes they don't even get released and leave us heartbroken.

Another one I'm looking forward to (Anyone notice a trend in my gaming preferences?) is Medieval Mayor [http://tiltedmill.com/medieval-mayor/], but they haven't posted any news since January so I've kind of given up hope that it will be released - that's really disappointing.

I've got a few games I've watched on Greenlight (which is blocked here at work) that I was looking forward to almost a year ago and have given up any hope of seeing or heaing anything more about.

What are some of the games you're waiting for? What ones finally have come out, and did they live up to your hopes? How do you hear about these games, aside from things like Kickstarter and Greenlight? What have you given up on, and why?

I pretty much do the same thing. While yes there are a few games that I get somewhat hyped for, I'm usually able to kill that hype pretty fast.
Funny thing is last year the only game I actually purchased that had actually come out that year was Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, and even then I've still not beaten it.

Mainly I have a huge backlog of older games that I wanna play, and I do Let's Plays on two different sites so I don't have as much time to play other games in my free time, which I don't mind because usually the games I'm LPing are because I wanted to actually play them.

This year has actually seen me purchased quite a few new games though: Sly 4 Thieves in Time, BioShock Infinite, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix (I imported mine and got it 2 days after it came out in Japan back in March), Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and I'm gonna get Sonic Lost World, Wind Waker HD, Wonderful 101, and Pokemon X/Y later on. But I'm not exactly frothing at the mouth waiting for those games, well maybe a little but I can kill that hype easily.

Mirror's Edge 2. I've been waiting for it since it since I finished the first one when it came out.

Finally...

I've been waiting for Rune Factory 4 since July. Oh, July. The month RF4 was supposed to release in. Now it's been pushed to October and I'm starting to think it will be pushed again into next year.

Well, I've been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 for years.

Other than that, yeah, I don't usually look at games that aren't done yet because I hate the idea of devs putting out an alpha/beta build so we can pay for the privilege of becoming their test team (although I guess it's something that happens only on PC), but also because that way I don't get suckered into buying a game that I thought I'd like day one (Aliens Colonial Marines, for example). The fact that money is scarce these days helps immensely.

I also have a massive backlog of games waiting to be played.

Right now I'm hyped for just two games.
1)Transistor. Mainly because Bastion was god damn amazing and Transistor seems to be more of that.
2)Persona 5. Because it's goddamn Persona 5.
And to a little degree Pokemon X&Y. I haven't played proper Pokemon game since Red, so X&Y seems like a fresh start and a reason to pick up dirt cheap 2DS.

I'm gonna have to stick my hands up and say Dragon Age Inquisition. Loved the first one, actually liked the second one on the second playthrough (I think the writing, with some exceptions, is better than the first one), and given that Bioware actually have a relatively good track record for going over and fixing some of the less good elements from previous editions (compare the chore of most of Mass Effect 1 with the more streamlined Mass Effect 2), and the new information looks really good, I'm looking forward to it. Just a pity it's going to take a YEAR!

Also, Witcher 3 (if I get enough time to sit down with it and work through it), Watch Dogs, and Arkham Origins

Right now there are two games I have been waiting and waiting for but haven't gotten much info on when they will be released. The former was supposed to be out several months ago, but has been delayed and we haven't gotten much word on it, the latter is just being worked on and...eh, it'll be out in probably a month or two.

My iPod will be much happier once I've got these games in my library.

I'm pretty much waiting for Pokemon and the Rome 2 bug fixes. I want Rome 2, but not so much that I won't wait for bugfixes and maybe a $10 pricedrop. Pokemon is a day one purchase though.

Can I wait alongside you, then? I have been waiting to wait with more people in terms of waiting for KH3 since I realized I was still waiting for KH3 to come out...

Oh right... I, too, have games that are NOT KH that are in desperate need of a single playthrough... *looks at pile* Eh... They can wait, since I'm still replaying(?) KH 1.5 right now...

Other games I'm waiting for include:
Persona 5
The Crew
Tales of Symphonia Chronicle
Tales of Xillia 2
Any Tales of game
Any KH game
Any Rayman game... *looks at Rayman Legends* Nevermind... But, still...
...Half-Life 3...

Even though I'm not getting an Xbox One, I'm still looking forward to Dead Rising 3

Why? Because it looks so damn COOL

And because I'm a fan of the DR series, so unless the game beats my mother to death, I'll still get some sense of satisfaction with it

Wasteland 2, Massive Chalice and Wildstar are my top 3 "waiting for" games.

I'm currently slogging through Rome 2 and Europa Universalis 4 so I'm hardly bored.

I get that feeling as well, my friend. But then I try to console myself with the knowledge that extra development time means extra polish. Unless it gets palmed off to another developer or has to be retrofitted for another engine. Then we're in trouble.

OT: Another vote for Inquisition, and whatever the new Mass Effect game turns out to be. Also, Mirror's Edge 2, Watch_Dogs, and Darksiders III. I have no idea if they'll be any good, but I'm desperately hoping they will be. The first Mirror's Edge is so much fun once you get the rhythm of the running down, Watch_Dogs has a concept that looks like it'll be awesome if they can pull it off, and, well, I have a fanboy's love of the Darksiders series. Not entirely sure why.
