The first episode of the new Walking Dead series came out this week and I wanted to see if anyone else has seen it and/or reads the comics?

I saw the show. I thought it was really good actually. I haven't read the comics though.

I saw a pre-air. The series so far (ep 1) is stunning. I've not seen the graphic novels, but I know it's a classic.

I was lucky enough to see a private not-for-broadcast version of the episode on the Wednesday before it came out. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I also enjoy the comic series. Here's a decent article on it.

Yeah the first ep was brillant. Really set the tone up nicely.

I wish I could find a stream of it online cause I don't have AMC but I do read the comics and I have to say, THE BEST zombie comic ever!!! Every turn of the page I have no idea what's gonna happen next and I'm ALWAYS on the edge of my seat!!! You really fall in love with the characters.....and then they die!

The show (so far) is very well done and stayed authentic to the comics. I was very surprised that there was no deviation and look forward to the rest of the series.

The comic definitely doesn't have a problem with getting killing off characters. It'll be interesting to see if they TV series continues this trend.

yea some dude on 4chan streamed the 1st episode about a week ago. I thought the comic was ok, the tv series seams ok but I would have preferred if they made WWZ.
*edit*
Wow that was the worst post this year.
Ok let me expand. When i read the comic i was like "hey this is a little like 28 days" when i watched the tv series i was like "hey this is a lot like 28 days". The comic was actually good but im not sure it needs to be made into a TV series. If they allow them-self a few liberties with the story i think it might be interesting (I think they have to anyways because half of the stuff in the comic America would throw a hissy fit about if it was shown on tv)
28 Days Later wasn't completely original. The rest of the episodes won't be anything like it because he'll meet up with the rest of the survivors.

I haven't read the comics, but the show was really good. Something to hold me over on Sundays until True Blood comes back on.

Oh i know, the first time i saw 28 days i thought "hey day of the triffids but with zombies". But it can not be denied that even if 28 days was not 100% original content (like Star Wars or Indiana Jones) it still put some trends into modern cinema. Now when he meets up with the other survivors is where the series gets intresting....
SPOILER
... I want to see the little kid shot the deputy (but he didn't shoot the sheriff). That will be a defining moment for the series seeing how dark they are prepared to go. It can not be denied that the comic had some horrific scenes (prison) and i wonder how these will translate into film.
I can't wait to see those sorts of things in the TV series. It'll be interesting how far they go. The prison scenes will be amazingly horrific if they do them.

I'm having trouble figuring out what would stop that tank. I'm pretty sure an Abrams could drive straight through a maximum-density wall of zombies for any distance. So you do that til you're down to half your fuel plus an acceptable margin of error, then turn around and go back for more. I'm guessing the idea is that the fuel depot was overrun, but I still don't like it somehow.

The ineptitude of military and police response in zombie fiction always bothers me.

The second ep was great. Wasn't the brillant piece of work the first episode was but I knew that when more people arrived it would change the pace of the show. I loved most of the episode of the characters attempting to escape Atlanta. Though I didn't really enjoy Michael Rooker's character. And worst of all we know he'll be back. But all in all it was a fun episode and introduced the new characters well.
