Can we all just agree that them putting the main protagonists son in a life or death situation was a complete joke. Although I am surprised I could've swore they where gunna do a huge drama around the kid getting shot followed by endless fetch quests to drag it out.

I like it. It's slow paced but I'm a patient guy and the setting keeps the tension high. Although the characters are poor, definately one of the shows weak points.
dont u think interesting characters is important to a good show? whats interesting about TWD, if the characters are in your words "poor"?
It's partly that even though their pretty boring they feel like real people, and the plot feels like something that could actually happen which increases my immersion quite a fucking lot.

And just because the characters are poor doesn't necessarily mean I'm not intrested in what happens to them.

Anybody else think so, and yet so many people say its so awesome. Theres even a show called talking dead about it right after it goes off. It had an okay first season but im already tired of it and zombies as a whole.
The show has a slow pace, but it's a character driven drama in a world with zombies, not a slasher flick, so you should know what to expect before you watch it.
I personally like it.

I am mostly just watching it because I read the graphic novel for awhile. I thought the first few episodes were quite good although it seems to be going downhill. I don't have high expectations though. TV sucks and has sucked for years. I haven't seen a decent tv show since like...2000. It is why I don't watch it anymore.
-EDIT-
I think I just need Andrea and Lori to shut the fuck up for awhile and I'll enjoy it a lot more.

Believe me or not, but i completely agree with you.... the character development is slow, rarely anything remotly interesting happens, and lots of the actions and scenes just look boring...

But i guess it's a matter of opinion... there could be hundreds more like me that also hate it and a million more that finds it interesting...

I watched the first two or three episodes, couldn't get into it.

I think it's got more to do with the over-saturation of zombie shit in all forms of media at the moment than the quality of the show, though.

I kind of like the slower pace to it.
Kind of tired how in the movies they do everything and kill off nearly all the cast who you end up not caring about becouse you know nothing about them in the hour and a half.
Atleast this time they can take their time.

Anyway were only two episodes into season 2 unless im missing some.

Everyone needs to ready the comics. I love the Walking Dead. I love the comics, I love the show and I love the actors in the show. I feel that the show is growing as a whole and in the end we will be impressed with it. Are some episodes slower than others and sometimes I just wish they would hurry the F**K up up? Yes. But hey. Pacing makes a show.

But with some of those really good episodes of Walking Dead when it's late at night and I'm watching it alone at night I say to myself, "There's no shame in taking a Xanax to be able to watch an episode of the Walking Dead."

as some people have already stated, i think that:

a) you being tired of the zombie theme as a whole is a reflection of yourself, not the show. to claim the show is bad because you personally don't enjoy it anymore is both arrogant and solipsistic.

b) you're missing the point of the show entirely. the show isn't about zombies, it's about people coming to terms with life in post-apolyptia. the zombies are incidental. you could easily replace them rabid badgers or sentient chainsaws and the show wouldn't be affected.

the human interactions, the daily threat of (un)death, the rarity of things we all take for granted and don't even appreciate anymore, the promise and futility of hope... that's all the things the show is about. not zombies. or badgers. or chainsaws.

(sorry for the double post, but this demanded a rebuttal)

two words: Breaking Bad

the show is brilliantly written and directed, the actors are amazing, the show makes you gradually feel and understand things, as opposed to just having it shoved down your throat, and even predictably things we all knew were going to happen (i'll just say Gus...) happen in such a way that makes it seem unexpected and fresh. Breaking Bad is easily the greatest show on television, of probably the last decade or more.

BUT, here's where i'm conflicted, i don't want the show to catch a case of Simpsonitis, where an awesome show hangs out longer than you wanted it to and becomes so watered down in its continuing presence and refusal to die that it ruins its great legacy. i has to end, and sadly, soon. another season or two maybe. i'll be sad to see it go, but sadder to see it stay.

I very much enjoy the comic series and doubt I could ever get tired of it. The first season of the walking dead bored me to death, whereas the second season is pretty awesome so far.

Where are the people complaining about the pace of Game of Thrones? I've heard no complaints about the lack of action scenes in that series, but it also likes to develop characters and place emphasis on drama rather than throw two hours of Hollywood chaos in all at once.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, I think that the drama approach is so refreshing and makes both shows unique and brilliant in their own ways, I like the way they only tantalise you with extreme violence here and there, preferring to use drama and sometimes tension/suspense instead.

That said though, why is it only The Walking Dead that receives negative views about this? Perhaps the pacing was just a little unbalanced compared to season one or something, not that I noticed personally.

Anyway, the series will undoubtably pick up the pace soon, so keep watching for now if you think there's a chance it might rekindle your love for the show. Series one was awesome on so many levels, for me series two has been as well, albeit slower, apparently.

I really enjoy the series, mainly because they are going through it canonically from the comic book which I've read recently.

Even though they change a bit the story and implement other characters, the whole package is very good.I haven't seen such a zombie tv series that actually pulls at your emotional strings.

Im not sayin the show needs action but better execution, its telling what should be a 30 minute story in what 2 hours. If you know what filler is then you get why I dislike this.
Plus as I said before I dont find any of the characters interesting, they all seem so generic but put in this bleak situation and the only drama I see is a whiny suicidal girl and a wife that cheated. Besides them the rest just seem there and planned to be killed off. The point is to make me care about these doomed fucks before they die but I literally dont like any of them. Just waiting till the hunter with the missing hand comes back for revenge.

I wouldn't have called it boring. It's alright. I just can't watch it for long because Andrew Lincoln with an American accent is just plain weird for someone who's been watching him on TV here for a decade or more.
