The Walking Dead: Rick x Whatsername?

Since they dropped the column for the weekly series analysis I haven't had a chance to ask this question; does anyone else find it a bit awkward how Rick is jumping on this post-traumatic co-existence almost solely because of Blondy McPrettyface? In my fantasy he'd get more intimate with Michonne, you know, the strong female character he's been bonding with over several seasons, who's half-replaced Lori for Carl, and who actually has shared the same experiences as Rick.

Does anyone else have thoughts or opinions on this? (of course you do)

Have Season 5 on DVR (Sky+) because it's better to binge watch that show instead of week to week. If I week to week watch it, I will flipping lose my mind at how slow it gets and how they forget about several characters for about 3 episodes.

After watching the last episode I couldn't help but feel that Rick is almost turning into Shane, what with his intentions towards a certain character.
The group as a whole seem to be turning into 'bad guys' without them realising it in my opinion.

After what the group has been through I think it makes sense they and Rick would be quite traumatised

What do you guys think so far of this season?
I honestly thought the show had run its course in the first two episodes but it has started to pick up again.
I also read they are going to make a spinoff show based in L.A.

How many ad breaks per 1 hour episode do you get? I know it's 3 breaks for one hour and 1 for 30 shows. This is not counting the pre and post show ads. I know with American Football games there are ads after each play. THATS UNNEEDED.

Don't wanna be negative but I don't see the point in one unless the story is radically different, otherwise they will be just re-telling the same story right?

The Walking Dead's finally starting to pick back up again after all that monotonous bullshit of the last ten or so episodes (pre-stranger's arrival).

To be honest I find blonde girl's presence (and her whole family's, mind) half-hearted and crudely implemented. I just don't get what I'm supposed to be feeling towards this character other than she's a container for Rick's loveangst. And her child is the most selfish little shit I've ever seen in the show (Carl's awfulness is on a whole other plane of existence). So what if they ran out of cookies? What the fuck do you think people are doing to get the chocolate for those cookies?

Though that did lead to the best scene of the latest episode, so for that I am thankful.

What is it with this show and Horses? I wanted Buttons to make it goddamnit ;-(

The show is trying to show the culture clash between Rick's group and the people of Alexandria. Rick and his people went through hell multiple times, watched their friends and loved ones get killed and are pretty much walking reservoirs of PTSD. The people of Alexandria did not have to face the same horrors and had mostly a Cosy Catastrophe experience. They lost a few people but otherwise were able to maintain a very high standard of living for the setting. Rick's group has both jealousy and contempt toward the Alexandria group and that is a dangerous thing. The Alexandria people are committing the one sin that Rick's people have learned not to tolerate: they are careless and putting other people's lives in danger.

Maybe it is too soon to make such a statement but in contrast to these people that have been very sheltered they certainly are coming across that way, at least to me anyway.

I would say they became The Last of Us levels of overly violent and psychotic (the closest to "the bad guys" you'll get in a Zombie apocalypse outside the evil military) in the beginning of Season Five. They're still this way now, but at least we have a new enemy for which they must navigate and therefore adopt personalities other than brooding grimdark.

I mean, have you noticed that Rick's stopped using that awful grizzled macho whisper since he came to the camp?

I don't think Rick has a thing for her, or based his decision on getting a free haircut. He's basing it on how the people there don't seem that dangerous as opposed to what they went through with Woodbury. If they had to, they could take on the people there easily and probably even take over the whole place if they wanted to. Though it would be a challenge on their own due to the sheer size of the place.

The people in Alexandria are naive and reckless, especially the guys who do "Runs". They think they're completely safe and act like they're still civilized despite the world around them being almost the exact opposite. I'm not surprised people like Daryl don't like or trust them yet. They look at Ricks group like they're savages just because they stopped caring about their appearance and did what they had to in order to survive. >:V

I got a "I'm gonna kill you and take your wife" vibe from Rick toward the end of the episode, but I kind of saw it as a good man struggling with a bad world kinda thing. Got an abusive vibe from the husband too, so maybe Rick will have a justification for killing him. Definitely echoed Shane, but I don't think he'll go that far. (I don't read the comics, by the way, so don't tell me!)

Also, no, definitely don't care about Walking Dead.

I don't know what episode you're on, but the latest makes it pretty clear. Leaning in for a kiss and then later resting his hand on his revolver at the sight of her husband is pretty obvious to me.

As for the arc as a whole, they're trying to make the Alexandrians see how fucked up everything beyond the walls is, and safe for the Mayor and Dale(?) everyone else seems astonishingly oblivious to the outside world. If the previous seasons are anything to go by there will be a rampaging horde/cult of marauders/delusional traitor who will fuck up all the sheltered souls and so Rick's group will be able to chant:"We told you so".

Personally, I'd prefer if they didn't go that route, they've done it (more than) thrice before, and the change in the group's position wouldn't really shake things up enough for me.

Also, is it too late for me to have picked up TWD as a metaphor for life, this arc specifically dealing with social class; Rick's group being working class, while Alexandria is the sheltered middle class?
