For some reason people think that in portal the weighted companion cube was destroyed, this is false. To quote GLaDOS "all aperture technologys remain safely operational up to 4000 degrees kelvin". The WCC was thrown into fire safe, warm, not destructive fire. I feel very confident that we will see more of the WCC in portal 2.

Why would the incinerator be able to destroy glados's ai cores then?
Unless...it didnt and she was just pretending...

Glados lied all the time, plus you the player just go into a fire in a large room what you drop the WCC into is an "Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator." not a normal fire.

We've already seen it. Several times. Watch some Portal 2 vids, it's made about made several cameos.

My guess is it will be Portals G-man.

Failing that, they could, y'now, just build another in Portal 2.

Hey, this is top of the line technology we're talking about here. As if a metal cube wasn't hard enough to replicate, you have to paint a heart on EVERY face, ffs.

Wow, despite all of my playthroughs of Portal, I never combined that quote with the WCC. I feel stupid.

But, wait, didn't the personality cores get destroyed in a similar Aperture Science Artificial Life Incinerator?

The Weighted Companion cube will actually return in HL2: Episode 3.

Because it's actually the G-Man.

And I feel very confident that Valve knows when a part of their game has become stale and is no longer funny, and will not be included it as a result.

Of course Companion cube was still alive, he stole our cake at the end of the game.

If they actually were destroyed, she wouldn't be able to get back to life.

At least not without help.
You've got me thinking now...we could have predicted the end of Portal 2 accidentally already. Wheatly perhaps?

On Topic: I don't care for the companion cube. It was just a cube with a heart on it. I get what the developers were going for, but I just didn't find it funny.

Oh Christ... i'm sorry to say this to all the portal fans out there: Was it a good game? Yes. Are cake jokes still funny? No. Were they funny when it came out? NO! Really give it a rest. I understand that Portal was a cool game but honestly people act like it was the greatest game ever. It was a 2 hour long game with some dry science humor. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Portal and the whole experience of Aperture laboratories but I think the sheer amount of credit and adoration it gets is somewhat unwarranted. That's just my opinion.

OT: The companion cube was on screen for like 10 minutes, it's not that big of a deal.

It was a big deal because GLaDoS made it a big deal. That's why companion cube and cake jokes got so out of hand.

And anyway, OF COURSE it survived. It was sitting next to the cake in the last scene!

I really hope not. It was just a joke in the first game, it'd be distasteful to bring it back just to retread old ground.
