I don't know who this lone wackjob was, but shouldn't Christians have needed the approval of their church to start freaking out? I mean, I refuse to believe any major institution supported this fruitcake. They know better than to commit to a specific date or they wouldn't still be around.

Well. I dreamt that my boss and I were friends and she gave me my old position back. We hate each other in real life.
Was this heaven?

I think the whole "the world is going to end predictions" fiasco is really the world's greatest on-going troll meant to make people look like fools. It's like April Fools day except funnier.

Well it's Sunday and I see no fire and brimstone raining down from the skies, so I think we're good. I never bought this whole thing but, amazingly, I heard stories of people who freaked out, quit their jobs, sold everything and bought tons of canned food. So what did you think of the rapture fiasco and the people who lost everything because they bought it?
What do I think? I think the whole thing was actually set to happen. Everything was in place, the gears were in motion and we were all about to be raptured. And then, at the last minute. The hand of judgment was stayed. Because Macho Man Randy Savage passed on, just to buy us some time:

I'M IN HEEEEEEEEEAVEN! BODY SLAMMIN' OUR LORRRD AND SAVIOR!!! OH YEEEEEEEAHHHHH!...

The world wasn't really ending yesterday. All the "good Christian people" would ascend, and the world would actually end on October 21st.

I don't see anyone missing... so I can safely assume that no one is truly a good Christian the rapture didn't actually happen.
I was told "good christans" would get a vision of heaven, while everyone else would get a vision of hell.

Either Heaven is like any other Saturday, or Hell isn't so bad, or the guy is just a crazy person.

Oh wait, I think I did get a vision of hell.

All this rapture nonsense... all the news and people talking about it, flooding it everywhere. Its just a taste. When 2012 rolls around, it'll be 10x worse...
That's what it was? Gah, I've heard so many different versions of it. It's getting less and less funny.

Ah, well, there's always 2012.
2012 won't happen unless a giant feathered snake appears and devours the world whole.

So says the Mayans. Funny how people leave that part out.
If I'd have known that, I'd have fucking taken it seriously!

*runs to make snake-effective defences*

I don't understand why people would sell their possessions because it's the end of the world. What are they going to do with the money?

Buy canned food, guns and fortified basements? But I'll agree that selling all your stuff because a guy in a robe says it's all gonna end is stupid.

I considered it to be a [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.285521-Anyone-hear-the-Trumpets-yet#11259852"]bunch of malarkey[/a], though it seemed Lady Luck wanted to mess with me that day in an incredibly mini-rapture.

Yesterday, while I was playing some 40k Tabletop games at my local hobby shop, the mini-rapture seemed to take away all the good dice roles to a better place, as I rolled a total of 99 ones in the span of 2 games. The funnier bit still was the fact that at the 50 ones mark I swore that if I rolled 100 ones, that I would throw out my dice and buy some new ones, so Lady Luck messed with me again and I rolled 1 one short of the limit.

Other than that though, yeah nothing happened.

it just makes me irritated how people will do these scams and how supposed Christians would believe it even though the other 99% of the Christian population has enough sense to read the part where it says that man can not predict when the rapture will come. so if some one predicts it, you DEFIANTLY know that its not true.

lets see let me take out my bible here...oh yes, here it is:

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angles in heaven, nor the Son."
Matthew 24:36

see that? not even angles and JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF will know when the end happens.
read a book you crazy people.

Well, seeing how apparently no one actually reads the Bible, it doesn't surprise me that people continue to believe whatever they hear. A Christian who doesn't read the Bible is a blind sheep, and normal sheep are notorious for needing rather extensive shepherding. Imagine trying to herd a blind sheep. They'd let anyone push them along, even over a cliff.

It doesn't surprise me, but it does sadden me. People just don't seem to learn. No one knows when the Lord will come. If even the angels don't know, why would someone think a man would? He shall come like a thief in the night; in the blink of an eye He will come and go. No one will see Him coming.

Also, the fire and brimstone comes later. One must build tension to make an event suitably dramatic.

Ok well it wasn't thousands of people it was a few, very stupid individuals who IMO deserve to be in the gutters for listening to this dumb fuck.

well I very much doubt that I'd be going to heaven (stupid Christians and their "the only unforgivable sin is stealing", I mean come on I was 8 and it was a book about snakes :)

so I must have had a vision of hell this morning. well if hell is waking up next to my girlfriend then I think I can live with it.

or of course it could just be that this whole thing is BS.

But tbh me and most of the people at my college only heard about this doomsday thing on friday and thought it wouldn't be too bad if it did happen (tomorrow is the start of finals *gulp* ^_^ )

well, another doomsday theory disproven, the sad part of it all is all the people who actually believed it, and lost everything because of it (sold their possessions/ quit their jobs etc). I heard the dude who made this prediction put up a bunch of billboards saying the world would end on that day. that being said i think there should be a law making it illegal to post doomsday predictions on billboards, or at the very least allow class action lawsuits to be filled against these guys for Fraud.
