Well my brother as confirmed that he is buying a Wii this Thursday for what ever reason. Me and my brother live in the same house and he spends most of his time either out or working so I guess I have a new console to play with. I was just wondering if any one has any suggestions on what games are good for this console. I haven't the faintest idea on what is or isn't good for it and most of the games seen so far seem like quick cash'ins on the Wii sport/party type games which I have no interest in what so ever. So if peeps could give some examples of what's good and why that would be useful and would be appreciated thank you. Also please no flaming and trolling over "The Wii is a pile of shit" and such I'm already aware of what the popular opinion is of this console and it's not really relevant to the question.

All help is appreciated but if you can would you give me a reason as to why the game is really good it would be extremely helpful.

Metroid Prime: Trilogy if you can still find it, is three great games in one and a real steal.

Super Mario Galaxy

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom

Resident Evil 4

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I'd say that those are the essentials, in spite of the fact that I don't have the lattermost title. I'd also suggest Super Smash Bros. Brawl if your brother has friends over often. If he doesn't, don't worry with it.

Metroid Prime Trilogy.

No More Heroes 1 & 2

NSMB Wii

SSBB Brawl.

Zelda Twilight Princess

Punch-Out and to end it all Tatsunoko vs Capcom and WarioWare Smooth Moves. I also recommend getting some Wii Points to spend on the Virtual Console for there are some great games there as well

They're the same thing. It's 100 Wii Points to a dollar, and you buy games from the Wii Shop Channel with them.

I see. So the Wii is online then... does it cost to go online with the Wii? or is it just a case of sticking in the ethernet cable and going through a few details (Email address and so forth).

It's built in wireless and it won't cost you a cent to go online. If you wish to be on a wired connection theres a USB adapter for it.

It's a matter of a wireless router and the access key, not sure how to do ethernet but i'm sure it's an option.

And if you want to play online you may need friend codes, though I think some games (SSBB) have the option of a random match.

EDIT: And the online play is free, no account or anything like Xbox Live.
Also, if you like any games from NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, and a bunch of other old consoles, you can download them on the Wii Shop Channel.

Ignore all the suggestions of Okami. That game is an unplayable mess on the Wii. The motion controls are unresponsive, and the paintbrush movements you have to make with the pointer feature of the controller aren't picked up properly by the game either, probably because nearly all of them are variations of drawing a circle. The game has major trouble differentiating one symbol from another, if it even bothers to recognize what you drew at all. And since nearly all of the game revolves around both of those, the game is a complete mess and not worth any amount of money you can spend on it.

Don't make the same mistake I did by buying Okami. Trust me, save your money. The Wii version isn't worth the change hidden under your couch cushions, unless you like horribly frustrating gameplay or want to have the game around to show your friends how bad things get when developers don't test their products.

Other than that, all the suggestions so far are pretty good, so check some of those out. But seriously, stay away from Okami.

So what are the more story based games the Wii has to offer?. You know games like Twilight Princess (Which I've heard is amazing). Games that aren't just there for the lulz and have genuine story to them?.
