The game id doubtless going to be better for it. What do you think they're going to do if they've got technical problems? Release it anyway?
Nope, never said that.

What we do know is that what they want done hasn't be achieved but beyond that we cannot say anything else. It will not be likly to better than originally planned.
I really don't understand your logic here mate.

Why would a game released SOONER with LESS TIME to work on BUGS, CONTENT, BALANCING ETC. be better than a game released LATER with MORE TIME to work on BUGS, CONTENT, BALANCING ETC.?

In what world is it going to happen that they're going to release a worse game with more time spent on it please understand your logic man I really don't understand where you're coming from?

It's not going to be a different game is it? They're not converting it from a story driven open world RPG into a turn based strategy game so why is it likely to be WORSE GAME? You said "it is not likely to be better originally planned" meaning you expect the quality of a game released in May 2014 to be better than one in Feb 2015?

Never made a correlation between the two. Neither did I make it a fact it would have been worse off. You're putting words in my mouth.
I'm struggling to see how a game would be made "worse" by investing more time in it, especially when a major criticism of games is that they're often "rushed out". Can you please go through your thought process for me?

Am I missing something or is it only being delayed by a few months rather than the 11 months claimed in the thread title?
Nope, you're absolutely correct. I believe it was originally coming out end of Q4 this year but they decided they wanted a couple more months to polish the game. OP is adding eight or nine months for dramatic effect.

but you did say that it wouldn't be better/more polished, rather more likely rushed/buggier game, obviously not a fact but it is what your initial post said. That makes zero sense, they aren't going to sit on it that entire time, they are either putting more content in or they are polishing bugs, therefore it will be better than it was had they released it with its original release date.

OT: a bit disappointed but not unexpected (double negative, I know, I don't care) so I'll just enjoy my huge backlog until then.

Very disappointing to read at first but then I realised... this game is going to be spectacular. Take all the time you need guys!

Wasn't the original release date sometime at the end of this year? So it'll be 3 months late, not 11?

In any case, stoked for W3 and frankly kinda sick of games being shat out 75% done. CDPRed have earned my admiration over the years, and whatever they need to do to improve their game is fine by me.

I can wait. There's no rush and this will be the final game of the series. They should make it awesome.

Also, I was born in February so I know what I'm getting for my birthday next year!

It seems the entire Developer community are all in on a conspiracy to make me finally play those impulse-purchases that are lurking in my Steam library! First Dark Souls II and now this!

Excellent. The more time they spend honing and mastering the game, the finer the end quality will be. It's a very respectable decision, and further proof that the company has a very fair head on its shoulders. 2015 is now shaping up to absolutely awesome with Kingdom Come: Deliverance and now Witcher 3 for it.

I'm fine with this. I trust CD Projeckt's track record enough to not be worried. And if they decide to improve the graphics further I'm going to cry, my computer sounds like it is going to explode when I play The Witcher 2. Plus, this also gives me more time to beat The Witcher 2.

Great! This is the second game that's gotten delayed! I hate this! I was really looking forward to it coming out this year but there is little to do about it now but find more games. They also could've said Nov 2015 so being earlier in the year helps cushion the bad news somewhat.
