"Oh my God. You're... you're not as mean as I was expecting," Ribbon stammered. She knew it was too early to judge whether Jantra was "all that bad" or not, but going by Grant's account she'd been expecting a complete monster, something that would kill a person for the crime of coming within a five-mile radius of it. This thing was eloquent, it was clearly intelligent, and it was somehow even more terrifying than the monster Ribbon had been imagining.
Ribbon took a step back and shied behind Tyler. Tyler wasn't going to need to be told to prepare for a fight if he had to, and there was no use saying anything to Cait as she was probably about as useful in situations like these as Ribbon was. Ribbon didn't know what Jack could do, and she was torn; the smart thing to do would be to tell him to prepare just in case things started kicking off, but at the same time, Ribbon was really interested in the story about Jack getting paid for sex and she didn't want to interrupt him if he was writing it out.
