Budweiser is pretty shit.

It tastes nice if you're already drunk, so I'll accept swapping beers for it but damn - I'll never pay money for that crap again. Shame they wasted such awesome packaging.

This, it must be my English blood that dictates my preference for larger over...well, piss.
Have you tried American beers that aren't the bullshit that we seem to be famous for?

Russian River? Dogfish Head? Stone?

We really are more than that piss that you've probably had from us.
Of course he hasn't. He is just practicing his pompous British personality.
I can't really blame him though. Budweiser has stylized itself as "King of the Beers" and your average shops really only carry piss. The rest of our beer doesn't get to shine through.

To be fair no, I've only really sampled/heard of international brands. In my defence, I don't see why I would of heard of these more obscure companies from across the Atlantic, but suppose it shows you can find something good anywhere if you look hard enough.

XXXX Summer Bright Lager, it was funny seeing it passed around at a party and everyone having the same grimace a second after drinking it.

Eventually we managed to get rid of it by convincing a friend who came late that everyone at the party had to drink a bottle of it.

Carlsberg special brew has to be pretty high up the list, that stuff not only tastes bad but destroys your body for days.

Carlton Cold. Aussie beer, tastes like mouldy vinegar.

And for the record, I love Corona.
If you love Corona, you don't like beer. Coronas are probably the worst beers out right next to low carb beers. Good beer is Haufbrau, Guinness, Carlton Draught. Strong and not watery.

Foster's. It's the most godawful swill ever to have been bottled. A very close second would be shit like Miller's, Coors, Budweiser (the American one, not real Budweiser from the Czech Republic).

Olympia. It honestly tastes like vomit. It's cheep but there are beers that are even less expensive that actually taste decent.
The Honey Red beer from Super Store is actually pretty good and it's really cheep.

True. Also hate this recent trend in making beer with lemon just to appeal to women.

The worst I've tasted yet is Tuborg, which I think is Danish. It is cheap though, so I know people who gladly drink it, because they drink it for the sole reason that it contains alcohol.

Am I the only person who thinks it's weird that the OP would berate his host over the beer they provided? I'd just politely ask for a glass of water or something if I didn't want the Coronas. Actually, I rather think this entire thread is on the negative side. I'm almost at a loss to try and suggest beers that are terrible.

A lot of this seems to come down to preference, especially in lagers versus ales. I would like to point out that most American beers that get exported aren't great, but a lot of great beer is made in the US, especially in Midwest microbreweries. Leinenkugel and Bell's come to mind pretty swiftly as examples of quality stuff.

Bud Light, it tastes wayyyy watered down, not sure if it's the fact that light beer in Australia still tastes like beer but there is something wrong with Bud

Warm beer. Even crappy beer can taste good at 4°C.

The worst brand of popular beer I've had is Corona. It tastes like it's been diluted and they charge $60 Australian per carton. Fuck that, I'll drink my $1 per can Export over that stuff any day.

"Corona is for people who want to look like they drink beer but are too pussy to drink beer" - One of my mates after a few.

I agree with this so much. I had problem getting rid of one bottle that I shared with 3 others. I don't remember the brand of that beer, but I haven't tasted any good American beer.
