Oblivion simply because with the combined man-hours that went into playing that great game, we gamers as a whole could have cured cancer.
You got farther than I did. Never before have I not finished a game. H.A.W.X 2 now has that dishonor. The story was boring, with no real explaining going on anywhere. The graphics were horrid. Combat was unexciting, and I found at times near impossible. I'm sorry, but if someone is overruning a position and their progress is shown by a bar, then when I kill that person, the bar should go back in my favor, not stay where it is. And who thought those UAV missions were a good idea? It sounds like, from what you said, that the ending was just as terrible as the game itself. Glad I never finished it.adam5396 said:Tom Clancy's HAWX 2. I'm not even gonna mention the problems coming from playing it on PC in the first place. The gameplay was just dull with occasional annoyances like 50 turrets all hitting you easily. But the story was the final nail in the coffin. "Congratulations, you've just saved several million people." Is not a way to make me feel accomplished at saving several million people....Neither is that doing so just requires you to shoot 2 very so moving trucks.
Oh, and there was some huge conspiracy which was the reason for the bad guy trying to pretty much destroy the world. And they never explained a thing. I think it was Yahtzee who put ending your game on a cliffhanger without any notion of a sequel at the top of game design deadly sins.
Hmmm...I think I'll have to agree with you, for all of your points. I just couldn't be bothered when it sunk straight into all of the RTS.Leemaster777 said:Worst game I've played? Honestly, probably Brutal Legend.
I was SOOO looking forward to that game. On the surface, I love the premise. You're Jack Black trapped in a heavy-metal world where you get to use the powers of rock to smite your enemies? That sounds several tasty varieties of epic.
The demo lead me on even further, leading me to believe it would be a hack-and-slash type game with an emphasis on team-ups and boss battles.
Then I actually played it. What a freaking bait and switch. After only a few short hours, the game basically turned into a straight-up RTS with limited options and even more limited control. I'm not a huge fan of RTS (except for Starcraft), so this was like drinking a glass of fine wine only to discover it's actually piss.
And before anyone gets on me that, "They said it was going to have RTS in it", that's still no excuse for leading me on with that demo. A demo is supposed to ACCURATELY reflect the gameplay, and Brutal Legend's demo failed so hard in that respect it hurts.
I'll admit that the comedy was good at first, but it quickly got tiresome.
Man, what a letdown.
Care to elaborate on that? i mean i'm not opposed to someone disliking the game, but hen you call a critically praised game the worst of a generation, you should at least give your reasons for why you think so.Legion IV said:Portal.
I didnt like it. I was bored. The gameplay was bleh in my oppinion. The story i found was just odd, i see why its liked but the whole "Cake" and "you just killed your only friend ever ect ect" things just came off as trying wayyy to hard. Its all my oppinion its my least favorite of thius generation but i can see why its so loved. Just am very selective with my games and hardley buy out of my comfort zone so am always happy with my purchases. My friend almost forced me to get portal so thats why. Its honestly a decent game but the worst of the games i've played this generation.Sutter Cane said:Care to elaborate on that? i mean i'm not opposed to someone disliking the game, but hen you call a critically praised game the worst of a generation, you should at least give your reasons for why you think so.Legion IV said:Portal.
Fair enough. I can understand how the game wouldn't be liked by everyone, it's just when you do a one word post in a thread like this and put down a critically praised game, you come off looking like a bit of a troll, and that clearly isn't the case here.Legion IV said:I didnt like it. Thanks for understanding. I guess i did it because it seems okay for people to say it about one of my favorites Final fantasySutter Cane said:Fair enough. Back on Topic: Red faction guerrilla. The destruction you could cause WAS really cool, but it almost seemed like the game was actively trying to prevent you from causing it for the amount of time that I played, and the shooter half was incredibly bland IMHO
Well, I got it on Steam. And if that autopatches to the latest, then you must have been lucky, because it made it even worse for me.Vicarious Vangaurd said:You are now my sworn enemy.
