The "decision-making" segments of the last Splinter Cell game were superfluous and gimmicky and marred an otherwise solid Splinter Cell experience.

The constant health depreciation of the dark world segments, and the ridiculous beam ammo system, in Metroid Prime 2.

The fishing-for-Triforce debacle that comprised the greater bulk of the final fourth of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

The general sense of deja vu experienced when playing just about any FPS.

Bioshock is my favorite game of all time but the one thing that always nagged me every time I went back to replay it I always used the same exact plasmids. They say that there is a varity of plasmids but really there is the 4 you need and like another 8 useless ones that are just there.

See, IA with you, but only during my first playthrough. Once I understood how the place worked, I breeze through it, but oh god, I wanted to stab my eyes out during the first time because I was so confused, LOL. I STILL hate Orzammar's dungeon crawl though. It's not that it's hard, it's just pretty boring beyond the...interesting monster you find in there.

I think a lot of the N64 games I used to like suffer now from the realization of how terrible the cameras were. Someone mentioned Zelda: OOT, but I want to throw in Super Mario 64 as well. Enjoyed the game, wanted to strangle the camera.

My favourite game is Timesplitters 2.
(frankly, I can't think of anything wrong with that game)
I have to agree with you.
The only bit that i didnt like about that game was doing the mission where u follow that lady through chinatown or wherever it was. on hard that was a pain. Im actually scarred by the "Cross now" traffic light voice. apart from that it was my best game ever.

"Cross Now" "Cross Now" "Cross Now"

Mass effect:

"Choose-your-own-path" style where the decision-making amounts to "choose this option for good, choose this option for neutral, and choose this option for bad!"
Especially when the put them in the same place every time, and your individual decisions don't really effect story

Fallout 3. Hmmm, it might have just been my own stupidity, but one of the missions on the DLC broken steel. You had infiltrate a base. Instead of using the special weapon they gave me and blasting my way through everything, I used about 30 stealth boys to make it in and out and it was no fun.
And Timespliters 2, being the last one alive in Infection. That is a horible feeling.

Spock + Uhura. I know it was a movie, but that relationship ruined an otherwise perfect movie

Final Bosses/Battles can ruin many otherwise great games if they are too difficult compared to the rest of the game, like GOW or Killzone 2 (60+ tries for raddek(?)...) for example.

Collecting Skultulas in Oot(just off the top of my head) major pain in the ass.
No replayablity in AC2
Too short of a Campaign in MW2
Unlimited respawn on veteran in Modern Warfare.
Backtracking in Metroid Games.
Doing flood levels in Halo Games.
And for Rockband 2, the god-forsaken repetition of(in my opinion)the worst songs in the game; as well as these songs being the easiest. And noone wants to spend 3 hours playing living on a prayer every time you do a random setlist. Now that i have the Rockband 1 add-on its a little less frequent now, thank Christian Jesus

This thread almost makes me want to fire up my old N64 to play OoT again... I was in... 6th grade when I beat it? I wonder how it would be if I viewed it now through older eyes.

Good games are destroyed when they outstay their welcome - Assault on Dark Athena?
That's a good game?

I thought it was shite
Yeah, I thought it was solid - nothing overly special about it but a fun romp from the beginning through to the time you leave the ship.

The next 4 hours spent getting back on the fucking thing though...

Whoever had the idea for that should be sacked.

Pokemon Silver: (buying the new version)
- In the end these games are far too easy, there is no way you can lose unless you find a way.
- Dark caves are not fun! The move flash sucks and I always have to find a common pokemon to chuck it on so I can just use to make it through those caves.
- In places where pokemon pop up and your looking around it starts to get annoying, always have to stop every 3 seconds and you start noticing just how tedious the battle mode start is, especially when you run out of repellent.
- Some pokemon are just crap, they are so weak there is no point of using them in PVP at all. I reckon they should all be useful in their own special way in battle.

Ocarina of Time: (I have to nit-pick, OoT is generally good at everything)
- I hate that God damn owl thing that pops up at any moment, repeats what Navi or some other character just said and it's nothing interesting so you don't bother reading and end up just flicking through it fast but watch out, he says "want me to repeat everything I just said" at the end so you have to be careful speeding through it.
- It ended? Damn it! I can't think of many things that annoyed me in this game. I'll be back with more later, if I can think of any.

Super Smash Brothers Melee: (Still love playing this with friends)
- Mewtwo is either weaker than the other characters or is too difficult to use.
- Well I didn't care before but I wish there was more to do in it now since Brawl turned out to be a giant piece of crap. Melee is basically perfect for what it is.

Metroid Prime: (Just started playing this again recently)
- I hate scanning everything, they sometimes give some interesting explanations but you have to do it so often you just can't be bothered doing it every time.
- I didn't like it how it started to point out where to go next when you leave something for too long, I enjoyed discovering everything for myself like in Super Metroid.

Rock N Roll Racing 2: (I lost my copy *cry's*)
- The single player mode is too short, beat it in one day.
- It's possible to save for the best vehicle without buying any of the others for the first 2 stages, made it way too easy.
- It didn't play any Black Sabbath in this one which is a big flaw to me.

Donkey Kong Country: (Played it not that long ago and found it a lot harder than I remembered, the PAL version must of been a lot easier)
- I wish I could go back as soon as I entered a new area. Can't save or fly once in new zone.
- Last boss was kinda lame, did one thing and then the other, not really the most exciting way to end this great game.

Specter: (Very old game that only works on my ancient Mac)
- Enemy homing missile's made some parts of the game really hard to get through, the difficulty went all over the place on this game.

Lineage 2: (Chronicles 1 to 4 were the best before it started copying WOW)
- It's a big grinding MMO game if you can't be bothered to look for quests.
- the skill fake death hardly works and it consumes a lot of MP.
- Archers and Wizards are overpowered, just buy some BSPS and kill everything at huge distances, I don't think they thought this game through.
- Too many Chinese farmers and bots, they made the game annoying since people kept buying money of the farmers making the game way too easy for them and bots are just cheaters.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Crappy survivors, the sun, the new infected....Wow. Pretty much every "improvement" over the first, I disliked.

Well, Mass Effect is damn good, but the mako!

+1 on the Mass Effect love and Mako section suckage.

I think the terrain and level design annoyed me more than the vehicle itself though.

OT:

Bugs in Fallout 3.

Also loving Dragon Age right now but man those character models look like they crawled out of the uncanny valley's sewage system.

The worst downer in my opinion is the final battle in Uncharted 1. WOn't spoile the plot, but very good game with a good story only to end in a press X to not die quicktime event bullshit.

Hell any and all quicktime event in any game ever including God of War and Resident Evil (two games where people have said they were done well.)

I think you just summed it up perfectly. I hate finishing my fave games :'-(
I love to finish my favourite games at first, but then the next time I go on its never the same.
I dread the end of the first playthrough for just that reason....
Still, you have to finish them sometime, right?

Morrowind-

That they made a sequel. Which sucked.

Or

There was no diagonal running animation.
