Like any hobby, hell, any THING, gaming has good points and bad points, and this thread is about the worst points.

So, yeah, what are your worst parts of gaming?

Personally, I just came off of a session of Dragon's Dogma. God fucking dammit, this game. This game has just exhibited two of the worst in one.

1) That feel when you come off a gaming session more frustrated and stressed out than you came into it. I play games to escape that sort of thing, so when it does the opposite, well, that fucking sucks.

2) When a game is good, perhaps really good, and some things keep holding it back. See, when you play a really bad game, you just stop playing. End. When a game is good, but some parts really infuriate you, you end up still playing it, at best, it's disappointing, you just wish you could jump in a delorean and tell the devs to change those few things, at it's worst, it's like advanced torture. Dragon's Dogma is textbook for this. Brilliant combat, excellent RPG elements and class system, innovative "pawn" mechanic...

and monsters not scaling to your level with no warning other than your intestines being splattered all over the place, along with no fast travel, so you spend ages trying to get to the place where you will hopelessly get your ass kicked, along with a dogged insistence on never quite telling you what the fuck's going on.

I love this game, I FUCKING HATE THIS GAME, I LOVE IT, I HATE IT, I WANT TO TRADE IT IN FIRST THING TOMORROW, I WANT TO MAKE A SPECIAL GOLDEN CASE FOR IT, AAAAAAAARGH!

It's insanity inducing.

Oh. World of Warcraft. Almost anything can come back to World of Warcraft.

Tanking a raid boss, and the raid keeps wiping over and over and over again, but there isn't a single damn thing I can do about it because I'm doing my job just fine. That probably frustrates me more than anything else in any other game I've ever played.

I go out of my way to avoid games that are prone to creating these moments for me.
I don;t need the stress and frustration.

Last one that I experienced was Tokyo Jungle.
Very fun game, but flawed so badly that it's maddening. Every drip of fun is accompanied by buckets of hell.

Mass effe-- Nah, I won't go there I guess. ;)

In all seriousness I can agree with Dragon's Dogma. It does so many things so well. Pawn system, interesting boss fights, interesting class system, good working combat, no fast travel, say/night cycle actually influencing the world a bit apart from things just getting darker, etc. But then it also does some things just really...really bad. The character animation/lip syncing in cutscenes, no fast travel while often having to go to the same area over and over, pawns never shutting up, only one save game and sparse auto saves, which results in having to re-do the last 10 minutes quite often, etc.

Another 'worst point' in a game that ruins it for me is Skyrim, and how shallow the world really is. They traded depth for a huge open world. And that's both a good and a bad thing. I love the game, really. It's beautiful, relaxing and fun to play. But the shallow-ness shines through quite often, sadly. And it takes me out of the immersion immediately.

My lowest point was realizing that Half-Life 2 not only fell short of what it was hyped up to be, but is actually among the worst games I have ever experienced, easily worthy of a "bottom 10" list. Being unable to find even a single review- 'professional' or otherwise- that didn't praise it as a flawless masterpiece in all aspects, I felt a sense of betrayal and injustice. If I can't trust other people, what do I have to go on?

whenever someone decides to be a idiot in lol, hell I had a teemo go 1/8 and when i told him to stop he just said "annie please shut up otjek", he didn't even spell OK correctly.

whenever i play a game for a while and the game decides to just crash.

or when the community hypes a game to high heaven and it turns out to be shit, like with spec ops the line, the games awful and crashes all the god-damn time, and none of it is even shocking.

also this forum when someone makes an overdone thread, Jesus man why would you guys make so many threads about the same thing?

oh yeah and in castle crashers when they decided to throw in those Arabic heavy armour guys, they cant be juggled and they take forever to kill.

Skyrim had a lot of little things that just annoyed me to no end.

On the 360 version, I just had to deal with it, but as soon as I got my new PC, I got that version and modded the fuck out of it.

It's reinvigorated my love for the game and it makes me sad that consoles don't have the option to mod stuff.

How awesome would it be to be able to mod all your favoruite console titles?

Spending hours doing something only to die and not have anything to show for your efforts and then have to do it all over again if you want to progress with the game. Its even worse if it was a close failure.

I also used to come off gaming sessions more stressed than before I went on and these days I tend to avoid that if I feel myself getting stressed I tend to just turn off the comp now its just not worth it.

Multiplayer matches where I AM THE ONLY ONE DOING ANYTHING BESIDES GETTING KILLS.

Seriously, I can handle myself on kills just fine. It's everyone else who completely forget that the objective is to capture bases, not fight outside the ones that are currently occupied!

Darksiders 2. When you play a game and half way through (30 or so hours into it) you encounter a game breaking glitch. Trying to find direction and solace on the forums, trying desperately to find someone else that experienced this as well, you are greeted with the realization that there is not just this glitch, but DOZENS of them. Some of which you have already dodged, others that will loom in your mind until you encounter them.

And if that weren't enough, there's no support. Make the excuse of the THQ bankruptcy all you want, but they stopped supporting that game long before the bankruptcy.

And I had such high hopes... Death, we hardly knew you.

No other words.

NO. OTHER. WORDS.

Not a one.

Only reason I'm putting words here is because NOT putting them is 'against the rules'.

Oh League definitely falls into this... I mean you could have a perfectly good game then the very next game you could have to lane against a Blitzcrank/Graves combo.

Excuse me while I go and cry in a corner somewhere.

Oh and Borderlands 2's insistance that we must fight these crappy Loader robots for a HUGE portion of the story. They are so very boring to fight against, it's stupid >.>

Oh and how annoyingly good the entire online community is at BlazBlue. I've resorted to picking Tsubaki and button mashing for any hope at winning. It works better than picking Makoto and trying to do anything serious let me tell you XD

I have an 8% win rate with Makoto with over 100 games... Not that I particularly care about winning especially but ONE would be nice every so often.

I blame Swagna. With his BULLSHIT Inferno Divider! You do anything mildly aggressive towards him and he just rejects your ass with it. It's like Hakumen but more annoying.

The UMVC3 online community has to be commended on how dickish they are, especially the Nooblords who have only got around 100 games. Congrats you beat my comeback character mid-comeback on my secondary team, oh look he thinks that's an achievement because he's post match taunting. You don't play much Marvel do you?

Well prepare to get counter taunted next game because the Ranked system is runback-tastic and i'll just instagib you with my actual team this time :3

And lo' it was so. Twice. Runbacks OP.

Hey, it's me during Dark Souls.

Love the lore and atmosphere, hate the time sinks.
Love the bestiary, hate the convoluted side-quest requirements.
Love the combat, hate the combat.

This....
I know exactly how you feel, as I experienced the same back then. I love tanking, I was the best one on my server, and I tank whenever I get the chance to in any game. The feeling that you get when you just are in total control over the situation is just sooooo great.

However, when other people mess up your experience it's no longer fun, and it only gets annoying.
If someone mess up, no big deal, but mess up the same way over, and over, and over, and over, and over again... GWAEAYEAEAYEAWWWWAAAAAAAA&#!"%!"¤%!%!!!

I think people is what I don't like in games, but then again I don't like people in general. =P

But what REALLY ticks me off are things like lag, crashes, bugs, glitches and so on, technical problems.
Try dying in Tibia at higher levels due to lag or dissconnect, and you will curse, swear, shout and maybe punch a wall or even quit the game for a while...
But man do I love that game, so I always come back eventually.

I agree about your second point. There are quite a few games that I love that have issues that I feel hold them back. It's quite agitating.

Dammit, Ni No Kuni, why is it that you have some attack animations interrupt any spells that I'm using?! That's quite annoying.

Fallout: New Vegas, why are you so buggy?!? You crashed again!? AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGG!!!

...

I'm actually thinking about doing another playthrough soon. Should I go Legion this time? Hmm...

OT: For me, one of the worst parts of gaming is the communities and fanbases for certain games. Now, there are quite a few good communities, but there are also a few bad ones as well. Such as the hardcore Sonic purists who talk about how they hate the newer Sonic games just because of how he has green eyes now. Among other things.
