My lowest point was realizing that Half-Life 2 not only fell short of what it was hyped up to be, but is actually among the worst games I have ever experienced, easily worthy of a "bottom 10" list. Being unable to find even a single review- 'professional' or otherwise- that didn't praise it as a flawless masterpiece in all aspects, I felt a sense of betrayal and injustice. If I can't trust other people, what do I have to go on?
not to sound like a valve drone like traun over there but could you explain why you don't like half life?
Why exactly is he required to explain himself? What is with the hero-worship of HL2 that leads people to take another person not liking it as some sort of attack?
I never said he had to, I was just asking him a question about why he thought it was "among the worst games I have ever experienced"

and no I don't have some hero worship of half-life 2, what part of my post implied that I was even a fan of the games? I even said that I wasn't a fan of valve in particular so where you got the idea that I was a fan I do not know.

besides that thank you for the response, nbrsdan wasn't going to respond anyway.

No other words.

NO. OTHER. WORDS.

Not a one.

Only reason I'm putting words here is because NOT putting them is 'against the rules'.
oh god I have no idea how I forgot these bastards, vindictus happens to be one of my favourite games and the fact that i cant give vindictus any money without giving nexon any saddens me, at least the European servers are slightly better (though heavily delayed) than the American ones.

Because whenever a popular game is mentioned as being disliked by somebody they almost always do the above where they say it's the "worst game ever" but never bother to explain why they think so.

Forums are meant for discussion. Saying you hate an almost universally loved title without bothering to say why just looks like trolling or flame baiting. You (the person doing so) aren't adding to a discussion, you are merely stating a controversial opinion for seemingly no reason.

It's the difference between saying you don't believe in God because of X, Y or Z and saying nothing more than "Religion is stupid."

Exclusives. I know their purpose, and the business sense behind them, but I still think it's one of the worst things about gaming. I mean, to be able to play all games this gen, you need a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii (U), and a PC. Same goes for handhelds, with the PSP, Vita, DS and so on. That means thousands of dollars or equivalent (in Norway at least), before you even have a single game. It might make sense, it might not. Hell, I really want to play the Uncharted series, and definitely The Last of Us. Am I going to spend many hundred dollars on a PS3 for the privilege? Hell no. Release it on PC, or 360, I'll buy it in a second, not before.

X-Blades. I wasn't having any fun in the first place then I beat the exactly-mid-game boss. At which point I commenced going back through the levels backwards.

That is honestly the second half of the game, literally playing the first half levels backwards and in reverse order.

I honestly do not know who paid for X-Blades to be made but they should be ashamed of themselves.

I love this game, I FUCKING HATE THIS GAME, I LOVE IT, I HATE IT, I WANT TO TRADE IT IN FIRST THING TOMORROW, I WANT TO MAKE A SPECIAL GOLDEN CASE FOR IT, AAAAAAAARGH!

It's insanity inducing.
Hey, it's me during Dark Souls.

Love the lore and atmosphere, hate the time sinks.
Love the bestiary, hate the convoluted side-quest requirements.
Love the combat, hate the combat.
Huh...I think you managed to encompass my complaints in there to.

OP: Whenever a sequel's "improvments" turn out to worse than the original game's system. Skyrim's spell system is an example of this.

Glitches that are detrimental to my enjoyment. I once got an enemy stuck under a bridge in Dark Souls and couldn't get him unstuck. Guy had an item to. Just...how did they miss that?

Games that have to be debugged before playing via internet connection...that I don't have on my consoles since I don't give a flying shite about DLC or multiplayer. So, I guess that should actually say, "Broken games."

I wouldn't say it's the worst game ever, though it deserves to be judged more harshly because of the hype.
It's certainly not the biggest disappointment either, nowhere close, it's just that any mention of not wanting to make HL2 human and suck on its penis seems to draw torrents of incoherent abuse.
To be honest I think that's just the ratio of Valve fans on this forum. It greatly increases the odds of coming across the more rabid variety. Just like other sites you will get ripped to shreds if you suggest that Halo (or another FPS) is even remotely as good as COD.

I agree that it does get an almost ridiculous amount of awe, even though I really like the game. I think the problem is that too many people who dislike things say it in a rather brusque and dismissive way, and those that like things don't stop acting like what they enjoy is the Holy Grail and those who don't feel the same have something wrong with them.
